This is a vast improvement on the 1st generation Meriva. Although I'd opt for the turbo-charged 1.4 litre engine, and I'd avoid the 1.6 litre. I say this because a friend of mine has one of these in 1.6 litre form which she's had from new. After only a few thousand miles, the engine failed and had to be replaced. However, I wouldn't buy a Meriva, because I hate electronic handbrakes with a passion. The original Meriva had a VERY serious flaw - and a very *dangerous* one. The power steering coud suddenly stop working whilst driving. Imagine THAT happening when going round a roundabout, or trying to pull over to the inside lane on the motorway. Needless to say, a large number of serious accidents happened as a result.
Now I’m worried too as I’m supposed to be looking to purchase one soon and I’ve always got my children in the car! It’s a used 2015 1.4 I’m looking to buy. I had my heart set on an Astra but I’m being guided by the garage in particular to his meriva
I’m considering buying a used 2015 meriva. I’ve never owned one, or a Vauxhall vehicle before. I’d actually had my heart set on an Astra, but the seller is guiding me to the meriva. Especially as I’m a Mum. Do you think he’s sending me in the right direction? It’s a 1.4 petrol engine with 72,000 miles on the clock. I’m hoping it will last me years as I’m done with having to re buy old cars every 2-3 years (2015 would be the newest model I’d had ever owned to date). I’m hoping to find some really compelling reviews to guide me before I commit.
Wow, this was really a car review as it should be done, thank you very much.
Glad it was helpful!
