I'm fully convinced the "ending" song was purposely meant to give Disney original vibes purely to lure us into thinking it was the end, only for Chasity to snap at the true ending

The main problem The Summoning has is the same one the beginning of Feast or Famine had, that speeding up a song that's already fast and chaotic increases the chaos to the point where it's a detriment. This is why the very beginning and the middle aren't terrible, but the ending and especially the Lord's introduction is overwhelming to the senses.
To be fair; for ‘The Summoning’ this sped up version is honestly probably closer to what it would actually feel like if real people summoned a bunch of eldritch-style gods.

The summoning is 99% chaos but the intro (which low-key has a swing-tempo?) and "the lords in black, the lords in black call us" rock even when they're sped up imo

Totally understand putting The Summoning last as it’s a song that’s pacing is very important for the vibe of the song. The first part is supposed to be slow to communicate the characters’ hesitance and fear, while the second part is supposed to be fast and chaotic but not THAT fast.
Also, Dirty Girl is probably my least favorite song in the show but when the chorus hit in this video I actually liked it better?? Idk it has a dance pop vibe when it’s sped up and I’m a dancer so ig my brain just went “oh yeah I could dance to this!”
You're so right, sped up Summoning sounds like a panic attack. It's just such sharp enunciating words that speeding it up sounds like that sort of sound you hear when you're panicking and people are talking to you, everything sounds menacing and stressful.

@@goshdangit4503 I watch most things on x2 because otherwise it feels too slow (I think it might be related to my adhd, or habit I picked up in high school) and while I usually notice that it’s still on if it’s for something with music for some reason I just didn’t process that it was fast even for the speaking scenes. I think I realized it around either at the song Nerdy Prudes Must Die or Hatchet Town lol
The bully the bully sped up choreography looks like an animation missing frames and I love it
i knew going in that hsikm had to be the top song, it’s just so clean and the harmonies are so good, plus the steady pace definitely helps keep down the chaos of x2

As someone who consistently watches RUclips at 3x speed, The Summoning being at 15 for being too chaotic was real funny to me (but fair, I think I lost braincells watching it at 6x in this vid)

Newer starkid fan here, and I actually agree with this! With the exception of Angela’s performance of Black Friday and the final number What If Tomorrow Comes. And I also felt like the timing was off in If I Fail You. I don’t exactly know since I’m not very musically inclined. Too afraid to criticise because so many people agreed that Black Friday was their fav of the hatchetfield trilogy heh 😅
