This movie is pretty underrated, I especially love Belt. Fun Fact: This was originally going to be a stop-motion Aardman film called _Crood Awakening_ before Aardman left, and DreamWorks retained the rights.
Wow! I didn’t know it was gonna be a stop-motion film.
Aardman later made Early Man in 2018.

One of the best animated movies without an antagonist in its story.

Would be better to say that the movie is without a villain, because a wild animal counts as antagonistic in the way that its interests are against the ones of the protagonists.
Because the conflict was not caused by a living creature. It was the Earth itself
Antagonists and Villains are not the same.
Villains are characters with malicious intent.
Antagonists are characters or things set to OPPOSE the protagonists, whether they're evil or not.
Planet Earth and Mother Nature are the Antagonists.
The Croods was nominated for Best Animated Film at the Oscars.
Director Chris Sanders also directed Lilo & Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, which is why the creature designs are so similar across all three movies. ❤

There are many things I adore about this movie, but above all are the textures in this movie. How dry and dusty the desert looks, how coarse their clothes seem, how moist the jungle appears. I can’t get over it.
Also in love with the quotes «Please come back tomorrow» and «That wasn’t living, that was not dying»
Seeing it in theatres, my grandmother and I were in awe of how textured it all was. Made seeing it at home a bit sad for how much of that detail you dont really pick up on with a smaller screen.

Fun trivia: This caveman family concept was originally meant to be a film that was part of their short lived contract with the stop motion animation company Aardman (the people behind Wallace and Gromit)
But after their stop motion/cgi project Flushed Away flopped upon release, their contract was ended and Dreamworks took that cancelled caveman project to make it The Croods
Whilst Aardman years later finally got to do their caveman film with Early Man
It was so funny watching you not realize that the "apocalypse" as you called it was just the techtonic plates breaking pangaea apart to form continents 😭

There is a story of a woman who got lost on the Appalachia trail and decided to stay put and camp until someone came for her. She camped for over 20 days until she ran out of food and starved to death. They found her body right next to the trail. She just never dared to leave her camp and check her surroundings.
One of DreamWorks' most underrated movies, in my opinion. Other DreamWorks film you should check out are The Road to El Dorado, Over the Hedge, and Flushed Away, all great and underrated movies that I feel gets over-shadowed by the bigger films.
I love Flushed Away. It’s a shame that Dreamworks and Aardman split up.

This movie just so underrated. It's funny and sad and beautiful. I don't get why people just ignore it. I was really disappointed with the sequel cause like most it seemed to forget the importance of the first film. It was still funny, but the emotional beats were just rushed and insignificant
Obviously the Croods took some creative liberties with the creature designs, but this has got to be the most Caveman movie ever.
Thing identified at the start - Grug is strong and that’s why they survived . 30 mins later , Sophie “Man you’re built different”
While not my favorite Dreamworks movies, I still think this movie doesn't get enough love compared to other Dreamworks movies (a sentiment that could be applied to several of their movies honestly). Glad to see more reactions to it.

This movie makes me cry every time. Mostly because I’m a grumpy father who loves his daughter.
"They've never seen anything like this fairy-tale land."
That is the joke. They only walked in one direction for food because changing the route would be new.
So, that first scene with the egg fight is just because they never walked in the opposite direction.
The Croods is one of the most nostalgic movies to me
The Croods survived their neighbors the same way we did 2020 - via lockdown measures, social distancing, and a whole lot of caution, when going outside to get their exercising and grocery shopping done. 😂
I love the Croods movie, it was one of my favourites to watch when I need some distraction tactics employed haha. I really love the references to vestigial limbs in whales, makes me smile everytime ha
This movie is so underrated but it’s still fun and enjoyable 😊 I love the story and the animation and the different creature’s. I also love Epp and her family I think there all one big happy family by the end of it and they all learned a lot through there journey together especially Grug who learned how to be a better Father thanks to Guy in which I also love because he is a great character as well 😁 Thanks for the reaction Sophie and I hope you enjoyed it and can’t wait for the next reaction 😃😃😃👍👍👍

This movie is really underrated and one of Dreamworks’ best imo.
Fun fact: the Croods are Neanderthals (H. neanderthalensis) and Guy is an Homo sapiens.
Around 100,000 years ago H. sapiens started leaving Africa, and some H. sapiens and Neanderthals mated. Both species coexisted in Europe for between 2,600 and 5,400 years.
Something I find really interesting is that approximately 20 percent of Neanderthal DNA survives in modern humans; however, a single human has an average of around 2% Neanderthal.
This is my favorite movie ever, I saw it every day over a month, I love it and it always makes me so emotional.
Guy story about tomorrow, the sky with a billion suns, when they are close to ride the sun to tomorrow, when Grugs saves everyone and when he paints he’s story, there’s so many beautiful and emotional scenes, and that’s why I adore this movie with my life, it’s not just a comedy, is a story about hope and love and god it always makes me cry
Another underrated dramworks movie is Abominable. It's really sweet and also has BEAUTIFUL animation :D
If you like Ryan Reynolds playing " Guy " in this movie .... He also plays " Guy " in " Free Guy " :)
I think everyone is pleasantly surprised by this movie. Can't remember why it didn't do as well...bad advertising or maybe a blockbuster movie over shadowing it...?
The main thing people don't seem to get, according the many reactions I saw:
is that 3D animation got really good really fast.
It's always weird to hear "The animation is so good, even though this movie is old" when the movie came out in 2010's
High budget 3D animation always looked good even in mid 2000's, and in 2010's it simply reached a point of being so realistic that it needed to go for more styalized approach, because the industry realized they can't always go for realism.
But yeah - Cars, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar, even mid projects like Chicken Little had pretty solid quality at the time.
10 years old animation is Old!? Talking about stabbing the heart. If you want to see an older animation that, while rough, sill holds up okay I recommend Disney’s Dinosaur movie that came out in 2000. Older animations- Black Cauldron, Ferngully, and Cat’s don’t Dance are beautifully done and still hold up today.
This movie has a special little spot in my heart, idk what it is about it to be entirely honest. I just remember loving it the first time and loving it ever since 🤷🏻♀️ plus, any movie that can make me cry for not only sad moments but happy ones? Winner
The sequel is one ofmy comfort movies it’s amazing and I think better and funnier than the first I can’t wait to see your reaction to Croods 2

Dreamworks used to have really realistic animation especially in puss in boots 2011 until they changed their animation style in Peabody and sherman I wish they still kept their old realistic animation

For the longest time I always wondered why I loevt his movie so much. I guess it was nostalgia as I watched it with my dad when it came out. Definetly one of my most favorite animated movies. Even remember getting the McDonald's toy after that

I’ve always tried to figure out what disaster is being portrayed in this movie I think I’m not 100% sure but I think it’s a super volcano possibly Yellowstone, the earthquakes, the lava and the later eruption‘s they all fit a super volcano 😮

Yup, I loved this movie! No doubt about it. I also like the second one.
Interesting little nugget: The Croods are Neanderthals, while Guy is a Homo Sapien, which is why the cultural differences make so much sense. Also, it lines up with the theory that Neanderthals didn't disappear, they cross-bred with Homo Sapiens until the two lineages were one.
I love this movie with my heart, I remember I would soak my hand in water and mark the wood around my house because I liked mimicking the hand prints. BUT I just wish they had made the women more hairy, I mean, come on, they had no way to shave back then, right?

Why do all reactors think that digital animation was invented like 2 years ago?
Because 10 years is already a big time bracket for technological stuff to advance, that includes CG animations. The level of details are becoming more and more refined and meticulous. Also more noticeable in videogames, 2010's quality are quite different to 2020's (just talking about graphics tho).

I love this movie. The sequel was a letdown for me, though. It was missing the sense of wonder as well as heart. It didn't make me feel like this movie did.

Ummm... as someone that uses 3d modeling software and has done animation myself... yes there are cameras in computer animation, and they are also animated and move.
@@NZBigfoot good one ,obviously i meant the animation is drawn to depict camera movement and cameras are not used to film any scenes and any camera movement would be them moving a camera within the animation . obviously . so what camera movement did you love ?????????????
