Bro you became one of my favorite youtuber a few days ago. I was the hind at the end. I started getting attacked as soon as I took off from farp and was engaged in dodging fighters from the get go. After my fox2 I got hit by an a4 and he broke my missiles. I went behind the mountains to hide. I kept asking on srs for people to come assist. They came and ended up joining me for your kill montage 🤣 I thought blue was distracted enough to make my way to sayqual to repair. Might have made if that mirage didn't crash 2 meters away from me. I went defensive from the viggen, ate your missile, and after crash landing that f5 killed my pilot immediately. I went in petro's seat (gunner); and saw you landing in front of me, giving death stares to your pilot and mistrals. Cheers, Man-Yac

I was frustrated with the heli hunt so the flight after this one me and a friend took a mig 21 and 19, and on our way we found a gazelle and shot him down, then did PEGI 18 stuff to him on his farp out of frustration for the mistral. This might have actually been you 🤣 Cya around on enigmas, and I hope you keep those great videos up, they are super helpful and fun 😁

Great video man & good kills! The Frogfoot kill through the hangar was 😂. Im still on the fence about the mistral, seems very OP, like it hardly misses unlike the r60 that always fails to track anything! I normally fly for the blue but this round im having good time in the Mi-8 in Redfor. Maybe i should hop into the Gazelle later & experience it myself.
Thank you… my views on adding it is the fact that it can only be air to air combat. If you use those missiles where is the hind you can have air to air as well as air to ground all on the same flight.
I'm sure i will regreat this (i fly mainly hind and hip in the ECW), but let's keep the mistral. Even if it seems alot better than the r60 the hind has, it should be fair that the blue force helis have a IR missile.

It’s always bin on ECW… it was the Mistral missiles that they added and wanted to test. Sadly they have made the decision not to keep the missiles on the server
adding the mistral was something i advocated for since day one. i understand at the time the flight model wasnt great, but goddamn having r60s (a significantly better missile than the mistral) on the hind and none for the gazelle was so frustrating. enigma and his posse are not my favorite people, the server has essentially become "Enigma's Sidewinder Server". I miss the days of alpens wolfs cold war server 😭
I'm sorry to hear your not a fan of the team... Keeping it 1960's to 70's timeline and trying to balance both teams to make them happy can be a bit hard to accomplish. On the bright side they have a early cold war weekend event coming up soon. Check Enigmas channel for more info!
Precisely the kind of response I was hoping for from the server owner himself. I think the response sums up quite well why my boys and I have a negative opinion on him. Regardless, i'm optimistic for the future of the Cold War era in DCS. Hopefully with more servers on the rise as well.
To say the R60 is significantly better than the mistral is really full of bias and ignorance. I don’t really care if it stays or goes, but as pure heli player (blue and red) the mistral is so so sooo much better. Smaller warhead but more range, better fire angles, more speed and better turning capabilities. It often takes 2 to kill a target, but I’ve never been fired back at after the first hit. It knocks them out enough that they can’t fight back anymore. Also regarding the Enigma team, they have ‘power’ but I do think they try to do what is best for the general public and the server. This will always annoy and frustrate some people, but you can’t please everyone. I absolutely hate the new cauc for example, but I know they are trying and can’t just remove the map because I want to. And I know they will keep/remove the mistral based on a weeks worth of data rather than me crying about getting 1-shot pilot killed by mistrals in my Hind way out of my R60 range. The Gaz needs love, I prefer to see a special kind of troop drop, but if the mistral ends up being balanced, so be it.
I mean Red is pretty STACKED on the heli's with the time period ECW uses. There is no Blue equivalent to the Hind and the Huey (even though it's my favorite) doesn't standup to the Hip other than purely insert/extract troops. Unless we're getting a cold war AH-1 anytime soon then I think giving the Mistral to the Gazelle helps bring Blue heli's capabilities closer to Red's but still doesn't match it imo.
back when the 104th was the hit server to be on we used to go in pairs in between bulleyes and wait for eastern planes to fly through and just pick them or have friendlies drag them over certain areas and ambush aircraft. those were the days lol
It reminds me kind of first day on GS server with mistrals. Since the big update, it has been huge Nuf with bugs. used to be senses 9km but now less 6km also the missile hit rate is way lower. SUCKS. I have not try to use the new mistral in Enegma but still sick with FM. Not happy with new updates :(
I don't have really any experience with helis in DCS, but considering you don't get called out on EWR, this seems ludicrously powerful imo. The R-60s seem a lot easier to visually track, as well as the Hind being a much easier target to spot visually with a lot less usable mobility against jets, that does strike me as more balanced than this. Maybe as a caveat to a full AA loadout it could be spotted on EWR? I imagine jets would have an extremely hard time shooting this down even if they did know where to look, it can't have much of a heat signature being as small as it is, and it's basically built out of twigs so getting a bead on it with guns sounds like a pain in the arse - plus you can jink very effectively.
All good points to note... I think helos being spotted EWR would be way too easy. just thinking about Magic(real player EWR) tell me where helos are make it 100% easier. Last thing is that the Hind has a/a(Syria map only) and a/g capability already on the server during its flight and is a tank that flies. where the gazelle can only hold a/a missiles or a/g weapons (cant have both at the same time). Its also very easy to shoot down.

You can only have fun in a 10m radius and if you have a heli that can shoot down planes (which they could at that time) they'll take it out cause the fighter pilots on the server will whine about it. I get the BVR missiles. But no IR? That's lame tbh.
They still don't have the ability to have an asymmetrical setup say 2 hellfires n two AA missile right? I just don't like dedicating both sides to AA when the majority of the time I'm engaging ground targets.
My thoughts on the mistral are that it’s too soon to judge. Everyone compares it to Hind and R60, but the server is all about asymmetry so why compare? I’m not saying the F5 needs to lose his aim9P cause my mig19 has missiles that are much worse. The Gaz and mistral need to be judged on their own performance and if they are fun on the server. I would initially say that the Mig15 hit, was a bit much. And that entire flight you had 4 shots, 4 hits, 3.5 kills (hind needed help to go down). That is a way above average performance for shots that you didn’t actually have to work for. You could have gotten closer or better angles on some of these shots, but just shot and hit.. that’s a bit too easy maybe?
I see your point and believe it is a good one. However I feel I need to compare aircraft with other aircraft… that what they do in the real world to get the better edge/even the playing field. So Hips and Huey are basically troop transport even though it’s clear the Hip has better fire power Hind and Gazelle are attack helicopters. But the hind can carry a/a and a/g weapons at the same time during flight. Gazelle can only fly with the Mistral or have a different load out with no Mistral. So they are still limited to what they can do but at least this give them a helping hand.

Enigma Cold War server is a big disappointment, nothing like the excitement provided by the original Cold War server by Alpenwolf. It was probably the best server for many years imho
IVe mostly stayed out of ENigma server because of the weird things with restrictions. Effectiveness should never be why its restricted. If it matches timeline then its on. Taking a Mistral's missiles away is the same thing as removing manpads because they are effective. Believe it or not the missiles are very similar as well with a few improved adjustments. THe fact that this is on I will probably swing in. I have always liked the server and its one of the best servers. I just lost my ability to be a great mistral pilot there so interest plummeted. There is nothing more satisfying that dropping an F-16 or F-18 while tucked away in a valley. Like a sniper, you would not remove them from the battlefield ? I could understand if it had huge range but it doesnt. The Mistral is also very limited in what you can do with it , so it tells me the right people complained about being shot down unexpectadly and pushed hard enough to cause it to appear unfair. War is unfair ;)
With no restrictions, you just get F15,16,18 launching AMRAAMs all day, it's boring. There is definitely a place for servers that prioritize gameplay and some notion of balance.

Good video. My Mig21 and F1s have been splashed so many times this weekend by Mistrals. The gazelle is like a flying sam site with those things.

Kept watching the video and R60 would never had gotten tone at 10:00 and if it miraculously did, it would never have tracked and hit.

If you’re referring to the Sam sites. I think that sector had two air fields in it and the one I was at did not have air defenses.
