- Now that they've launched their drug business, there's no turning back for Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and his young partner Jesse (Aaron Paul). Using Walt's knowledge of chemistry to cook up high-grade methamphetamine to pay for his cancer treatments, the pair are thrust into a netherworld of murder, mayhem and the twin threats of exposure and arrest. Amid suspicions about her husband's fidelity, Skyler (Anna Gunn) faces an unexpected pregnancy and a grim financial outlook that forces her back to work for a boss she once threatened to sue for sexual harassment. The prospect of leaving his family penniless catapults Walt headlong into the deal to end all deals, elevating his reputation in the eyes of criminals and cops alike, but bringing him and Jesse to the brink of disaster while potentially making them rich beyond anything they could have dreamt of.

One thing I’ll never understand, was why everyone was smiling and enjoying the “Happy Birthday” song as though it wasn’t the most painfully, cringeworthy thing they’d ever experienced in real life
It's a "grin and bear it" scenario.
I guess they were just smiling out of cringe or just to not hurt Skyler or they might've been like "aight fuck it just let it end" or something
I would guess in real life, that's the way it goes down. That is the difference between most peoples' reaction to "cringeworthy" as opposed to "offensive". Probably embarrassed for both of them.
Plus, he's the boss...
Are you aware that it's a satire on what Marilyn Monroe did to John Kennedy on his birthday? Just not sure you know that.
@@konroh2 😂 yeah no I got that, it’s like the most common cultural reference ever.. it’s still super cringey
High on drugs
Drugs all over the place
Sleeps with his daughter
Jessie: i got civil rights😂
Better Call Saul
Lol
Well the guy couldn't press charges on him without giving away the fact that his daughter was also in it.
Well tbf sleeping with his daughter ain't a crime
Jesse is right though. He pays his rent. He does have civil rights. Donald can’t literally remove jesse from his property. He has to go through proper legal proceedings
1:41 Skip Skyler scene
I'm not a good singer.
all of them
based
You're a hero
THANKS
Skyler singing "happy birthday" is probably the most uncomfortable scene in this whole season. And that tells you a lot because its literally the same season where a guy got his head smashed with an ATM and a girl choked to death on her own vomit.
@D D Day esq and blowing up
It’s also the same season where a brutal duel between a DEA agent and a drug cartel kingpin took place.
Thats the only scene i skip in the whole show
Skyler singing happy birthday is more disturbing than the tortoise scene
@@brendanpjz3100 she wanted to seduce him
"I killed her"
"Jesse, look at me. You didn't kill anybody. It was me. I liked it. I was good at it."
"I was alive."
@Robert Congleton He could have saved her from dying then and there. But saved her from being a junkie probably not.
Holy shit, that was hilarious man lol
Jaime Walter tried to wake up Jesse by shaking his body which resulted in Jane rolling over. So yeah Walter caused Jane to die.
i laughed too hard at this
0:50 Easily one of the most awkward scenes on the show.
ikr i always skip the scene
How bout the sex scene with her green beauty cream
Even more awkward than Jesse's girl choking on her own vomit
when this scene came up i literally said "NO" then i skipped it
Wiggu Pigeon
Jesus, what's up with you pussies? This show has scenes frim the first episode from w man getting a handjob and Jessie getting his drugs from his toilet and this is what makes
people skip this scene. Don't get me wrong, I consider it awkward but you people are pussies, if a woman singing to a man awkwardly because she has a thing for him is unbearable is too much for you.
The scene at 2:40 where Jesse floats up into the air while high was actually improvised. You see, Aaron Paul (Jesse's actor) was so invested in the scene that he actually began to levitate off the bed. Vince Gilligan liked it so much that he kept it in the final cut.
His name is Bravo, not "Gilligan".
@@Gnarfledarf I honestly can’t tell if this is a joke, or if it’s serious.
If it’s a joke, then it wasn’t really done well.
If it’s real, then idk why this guy didn’t double check Vince’s name before commenting…
Bravo vince
I swear to god, make me watch that scene once again and I’d become asexual for life.
His name is bravo not Gilligan.
idk why but i cringed so much at 0:50 with the way skyler sings..
Sameee I skipped that part immediately
You're all just too young.
candycane No no we all understand the Marilyn Monroe reference we just hate it
Because she's awful.
Yeah me too
Jane’s eyes opened right there at the end. I’ve always wondered if Walt watching her die was the last thing she saw as everything went dark.
Her eyes opened because she was already dead. That’s now how it works.
@@mvdude3 Well we can’t really tell at what moment she went. We can’t see when her heart stopped and respiration ceased. We don’t even hear her final exhalation. It’s entirely possible that her heart was in V-fib right as her eyes opened and then stopped and everything would go dark as she passed out leaving Walt standing over her as the last thing she saw.
I learnt Brian cried thinking it was his daughter. Crying was real.
Her eyes moved a bit towards Walt, so I'd say, yes.
No lmao. She had already died, her heart and brain functions stopped. Her eyelid muscles retracting were just a side effect of death. She didn’t see a damn thing. Her mind was shut down.
Everything in Jane's death scene is perfect... everyone talks about the acting from Brian Cranston, which is top notch, but can we also take a minute to appreciate the VERY realistic sounds and movement of her chocking and trying desperately to breathe? It's a big part of what makes the scene so sad... having to listen to that and just watch her die as the audience really gets to me man.
jesus christ you wouldnt believe how real: when i was drinking with my gf , she twitched literally the same way , although she was rolling to the end of the bed , nothing good woulda happened if i wasnt there
I skipped it. it was too realistic. too much to handle
It's such a visceral scene, makes me queasy every time
she wasnt acting, it was real. The crew poured cement mix down her throat and she actually choked to death and died. Vince liked it so much he left it in the final cut. Brapo Bince.
6:11 Walters instinct as a decent man kicks in, 6:17 Heisenburg takes over and realises Janes death is beneficial to his situation. Probably one of the biggest moments in all of breaking bad, seeing Walter White conflict with his two personalities is bloody awesome.
She was black mailing him big time so Heisenberg definitely took over
@@wattsnottaken1 how could Walter have saved Jane? She already OD'd
Jane was a bitch. Wouldn’t do anything to save people like her too

"Welcome to-" *BOOM*
the scene where jesse cried over Walt's shoulder is heart melting 😢
Fucking onions
Never get emotional about a junkie. They're worthless scum.
I have zero sympathy for Jesse. Jane's death is largely on him.
@@atticus5106 It's on herself.
Even though Walt had the chance to save her, he knew the road Jesse would end up down if it continued. He wouldnt have been Walt's main tool, so much of Breaking Bad is about Jesse. He is the key to it all
Through it all, I believe Walt loved Jessie like a son, in his own demented way.
Stanko Burrito 7:23
In a manipulative way
he is heisenberg's son (alter ego)
@@gabyr.883 Walt stuck his neck out for Jesse so many times. I count four times he acted to prevent Gus and/or his henchmen from killing Jesse.
You're the man now Dog Jesse is a dumb Fuk
I didn’t realize until now Walter actually kills her, I know he could’ve saved her and let her die, but he shook Jesse making her fall onto her back.
I didn't even know that Walt could save her when I watched the series ... that's even more fucked up
that's pretty far-fetched, but if he did that on purpose, then acted as if he didn't realize she was faced up when he initially went over to save her, that's some insanely sociopathic and psychotic mindset but would also make his character that much more interesting
@@jwizdum2103 I doubt it was his intention honestly, it seemed more like an accident but he still technically was the cause of her death. Also, just by standing there and not doing anything so yeah.
But since that was what they wanted to happen when they shot it, it goes to show anyone he gets into contact with, dies, leading to the plane crash scene. So TECHNICALLY, that one touch caused 2 planes to crash into each other.
@@DaMilkManMan nah the plane crash was on her father, he shouldn't be working if he's in that state of mind. you can't pin unrelated things on walt like that. might as well say Gus killed Gale by bringing him into the drug scene, then trying to kill the only other guys who can pure meth as high %, he sealed his fate? lol
@@hasan_z finally someone says it
Walt watching Jane die was the official death of his conscience, and he knew it
Watch at 5:42. He did not only watched her... er actually caused it. Without him Jane would not have laid on her back.
@@haraldheller4359 holy shit.. i mean before u mentioned this i used to think yes he could have saved her but also use to think if he wasnt there she would have died anyways. But yes he actually moves jessie which moves her and puts her straight on her back hence causing the choking

I have been looking for the right words to express my feelings about this scene. And I must see: You found them.
5:42 anyone else notice how if walter didn’t shake jesse to wake him up jane wouldn’t have tipped over on her back which means she probably wouldn’t have choked on her back if she was kept how she was. These small details are truly amazing
I didn't notice that when I watched the series, only now that people are pointing it out
That truly pissed me off. I noticed immediately than it made me think if that was his daughter wouldnt he hope someone else would save her. Oh the irony.
Yes fr
Combos death was terrible after knowing why it happens
Fuck combo
CazzSDMF fuck you
and after knowing what happens next, one after another and so on
Yep. He was killed for product placement. Combos aren't even that good. The pizza ones are alright, but they got expensive.
Why did it happen in dont remember
6:17 that frame of hesitation.
When i saw it for the first time my heart cracked literally in pieces.
0o0Lo no it literally didn’t
Brilliant performance.
Trust me when I saw that I literally shouted "nooo please no"
IMO this is when everyone hit their lowest
literally for some of them as they were 6 feet under
5:42 Jane was on her side hugging Jesse, when Walt started shaking Jesse she rolled over on her back leading to her choking in her own puke. He didn't only just watch, he also "caused" the death. If she remained on her side she would've just puked all over jesse
I know it is hard to admit, but the fact Skyler evokes so many (mostly negative) emotions in you means that the character is well written and well played (like e.g. Joffrey in GoT). So essentially, I would say it is a good character. That being said.....yeah I skip her scenes as well, I just wanted to say Anna Gunn did a good job.
Igor exactly brotha
Agreed about the character, but the Happy Birthday scene was just creepy, awkward, and didn't add to the story at all. It's like Huell lying on the money pile, except that was at least funny.
Not necessarily.. Sometimes that just means that the person themselves are extremely unlikable and it came through in their acting. Idk anything about Anna Gunn though.
I don't like Pee Wee Herman either, does that mean he's "well-written" just because you want to feel clever?
@Purple Strike shes hated because she refused to see that walt become a meth cook to provide for his family after he died. She only seen a criminal and not a provider. Thats why i hated her. She had every right to get pissed off at the lies and shit but i could not get over the fact that she couldn't see walt was making meth for the family
7:20 probably one of the most real scenes I’ve seen
I still feel my heart break. Such a good performance
0:34 Combo has the fat zombie logic... Takes twice more damage than a skinny zombie before it dies.
This is the season where all the action starts. The first season introduced us to the crazy new world of Walter White, and the second season introduced us to the real action in the drug business.
“I’ll meet you there...” Such incredible acting. I literally felt like I was high on heroine.... and I’ve never even touched the stuff.
Wtf did you take a shot of h before watching or something
Precisely the romanticized phrasing that makes it seem so alluring..

I GOT CIVIL RIGHTS!!
The Constitution says you do!
...bitch!
0:50 why is this a key moment?
Skyler falling in love with Ted
What?! She never fell in love with him. He clearly had a thing for her, she flirted a bit, that's it. When he had sex eventually with him, it was as a way of getting back at Walt.
Well there was definitely some love involved otherwise she wouldn’t flirt with him when she’s with Walt. Maybe not love but some feelings.
She had a thing for him, but it was not love. And of course it's a key moment, cause remember how skyler give all walt's money to Ted?
Birthdays were always kind of creepy on the show. Remember Elliot opening presents in front of everyone like he was 4?
I was actually sad about Janes death at 6:05 | I've only just noticed all these years later that she opens her eyes and looks at Walt
Jesse would've been more traumatised by Skyler's singing then Victor's throat getting slit
5:42 if walter hadn't shaken Jesse so roughly, Jane wouldn't have died at that moment, because she was in the right position 😕
When Jesse was floating above the bed he started scratching his shoulder and I immediately felt those old pins and needles. Only something those who have been down a long dark road will know what I'm talking about. Thankfully I been off that road for 10 years now
Less pins and needles and more big warm fuzzy blanket for me. Unfortunately I'm still on that path, working on it
@@minerock16 you're gonna do it man 🔥🔥 you can do this
Walt spent half of season 2 trying to wake Jesse up.
Breaking Bad is brilliant. Best TV show/drama EVER. You begin loving the key character and sympathysing with him, then detest Jesse then love him and begin to hate Walter but also you're with him for the ride so rooting for him. And EVERY character is so dramatically fleshed out too. Only certain lines could be spoken by certain characters. El Camino has brought me back to this and I sooo miss this brilliant example of TV Cinema.
just realized that Walt didnt just watch Jane die, he killed her when he tried to shake Jesse awake. She was asleep on her side before Walter knocked her over.

I can't believe I got manipulated by a fictional character without the intention.
7:37 , my heart😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
06:17 ... At that moment Walt became 100% Heisenberg.
By letting Jane die his last bit of humanity was gone.
The acting of Brian Cranston in that scene (and the entire series for that matter) was legendary!
I think you have to look at it through the lens of what is Walt's most important mission. His mission is to protect his family, by any means necessary. He is the consummate provider, and his cancer created a situation where that mission required extreme decisions. Jane had demonstrated that she wanted to have Jesse leave Walt, and join her, and threatened to destroy everything that they had built. She showed her hand, that she was willing to destroy Walt, he just had the opportunity before Jane had a chance to destroy him.
I think he wasnt supposed to be that emotional in this scene at first. When I saw this scene for the first time I was confused that insteas of having a cold blooded facial expression he suddenly cried. In an Interview he also stated that he saw his daughter dying in front of her ans this situation actually made him cry.
You could say the same about Jesse. He was the one who pulled her back into addiction. Without him, who knows if she stays clean
She told Walt that she would "I will burn you to the ground" and that she might turn him in to the cops anyway despite his delivering the money. She probably didn't mean those things, and was just trying to get him to cough up the money, but Walt didn't know that.
Reminded me SO MUCH of James Gandolfini in Sopranos about to dial 911 when Christopher wrecked them...
Same reason, different characters.

The first time heroin scene was spot on pitch perfect. Everything about it, the nerves, the anticipation, the tourniquet, the squirt-back of blood into the syringe as the needle 💉 strikes that sweet spot of the vein... The intrigued look on Jane's face as she curiously observes and marvels at Jesse's first time reaction, no doubt perfectly mimicking her own experience.
*And his reaction my God!! Couldn't be more realistic.*
The immediate hard hitting "rush" as the diacetylmorphine instantly floods the brain... Before giving way to the protracted "high." The sensation of analgesia, euphoria, sedation, relaxation/exhilaration, disconnection and floating feeling as the heroin slowly absorbs through the blood brain barrier, as _"God wraps you in his warmest blanket,"_ giving way to eventual alternation between bursts of energy and extreme somnolence as the "nods" kick in- a solid 12 hours of swinging between tranquil sedation and restless energy.
*It was all just executed astoundingly and uncannily well.*

Wow I just realized that Walt really did kill Jane, he accidentally rolled her onto her back.
I would be a happy person if in this fictional universe Jane didn’t die. Being a sober junkie I can see how happy she made Jesse/Aaron’s portrayal. Honestly seeing her death and his reaction is one of the huge factors that made me become sober. But fuck man, he was so happy with her :(
