My Outsiders filming locations video • The Outsiders Filming ...
The Outsiders is a 1983 American coming-of-age drama film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The film is an adaptation of the 1967 novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton and was released on March 25, 1983, in the United States. Jo Ellen Misakian, a librarian at Lone Star Elementary School in Fresno, California, and her students were responsible for inspiring Coppola to make the film. The film is noted for its cast of up-and-coming stars, including C. Thomas Howell (who garnered a Young Artist Award), Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Matt Dillon, Tom Cruise, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio, and Diane Lane. The film helped spark the Brat Pack genre of the 1980s. Both Lane and Dillon went on to appear in Coppola's related film Rumble Fish; Dillon and Estevez also starred in Tex (1982). Estevez went on to write and star in That Was Then... This Is Now (1985), the only Hinton film adaptation not to star Dillon.
The film received mostly positive reviews from critics, most notably for the performances, with Macchio being singled out for praise. The film performed well at the box office, grossing $33.7 million on a $10 million budget. Over the years, the film has earned a cult following.
The film was shot on location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Filming took place from March 29 to May 15, 1982. The Outsiders House Museum is a museum in Tulsa, Oklahoma. It aims to preserve the primary film set for the Curtis Brothers' house in the 1983 coming-of-age movie The Outsiders for fans to enjoy in the future. The museum was bought by Danny Boy O'Connor, a founding member of the hip hop group House of Pain. A long-time fan of The Outsiders, O'Connor bought the house for $15,000 before ever setting foot inside. The inaugural ribbon-cutting and opening of the museum was set for August 9, 2019.
Built in 1920, the house was largely unremarkable until it was used as the set for the Curtis Brothers' house during the filming of The Outsiders, a 1983 movie starring Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze, C Thomas Howell, Diane Lane and Tom Cruise. The movie was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and based on the 1967 novel of the same name by S. E. Hinton.
The Outsiders house was purchased in 2015 by musician Danny O'Connor. O'Connor was a long-time fan and collector of the movie's memorabilia and, after playing at Tulsa's Cain's Ballroom in 2009, he asked a cab driver to take him on a tour of the neighbourhood. O'Connor saw the house and fell in love with it and, after the house's tenants grew eight months behind in rent, the former owner agreed to sell the property.
O'Connor bought the house sight unseen for $15,000 and had to sneak in through a window to get inside. It had to be emptied of detritus before restoration could begin. O'Connor teamed up with Oklahoma residents to carry out the restoration, which involved extensive renovations including removing walls and ceilings. A crew of volunteers shoveled trash for three days while ripping out broken home appliances and using bug bombs to fumigate the property.
As part of the restoration efforts, the renovation team worked to make sure that the house looked as it did in the film, such as by retaining fence damageand missing wood panels in windows.
The project was supported by the TYPros Foundation, the Oklahoma Film and Music Office, Visit Tulsa and the Oklahoma City Council, and items and exhibits were donated from fans from across the world. Fundraisers for the project were held in August 2016 and May 2017.
The Outsiders House Museum is designed to be a museum that's created by the fans and for the fans. It spans the entire house and features the front porch, living room, dining room, bathroom, and kitchen as they appeared in the film. The back rooms are used to exhibit paraphernalia including posters, magazines, a switchblade collection, Francis Ford Coppola's director chair, and Matt Dillon's jacket, as well as items that match those on the original film set that were sourced from local antique shops.
The Museum was scheduled to open in late 2017. However, the house was still undergoing renovations in March, 2018. A new date for the public opening has not been announced.

Wow! As a kid who grew up in the 80s I am so happy to see this and I can't wait till it's open to the public and all things are set 7 days a week. There is definitely something very special and iconic about this 80s film. There are so many films made in the 80s that have made a footprint not just in the Hollywood vernacular but also within the vernacular of the American people. This is very awesome Scott thank you so much. Can't wait to make it out there someday and I hope you are well.
Be safe out there and we will see you later!
    Thank you.

I recall when the 'Outsiders' movie first came out. It was not the best received film in March 1983 in Canada. There was Monty Python's Meaning of Life, Spring Break and Flashdance in April of that year to anticipate. Yet, the 'Outsiders' has held a righteous cult following since the early 00s. A dude like Danny embodies modern Americana in earnest. When you love something which defines your youth then the original idea becomes iconic in time. Danny is a brutally honest human, and you Scott have hit the jackpot in your video. The Outsiders was obviously a low-budget movie for its time, but yet a showcase of superstars yet to come. Who would have known??? Perhaps the final and 'absolute' proving ground of lasting Hollywood talent.

In the poster for the film, the Greasers are shown laughing as Johnny is smirking. This was a candid shot, taken during the photo session in which the actors were supposed to look tough at the camera. What happened was that a crew member was approaching the food table off-camera, and a stagehand said, "Hey, that's for the talent." When Leif Garret went to the table Ralph Macchio says, "Hey, Leif, that's for the talent." This comment cracked up the cast, and the photo was used.

Back in the 80s some Americans from Oklahoma brought me a T-shirt and ball cap of the "Bixby Spartans", the basketball team featured in "Tex". Glad that Danny Boy did this as it's a part of pop culture history. Having that said, my stomach tells me someone with money to burn is going to have to come along and bail him out as I can't see enough people coming to visit for the house to make any money.

This was amazing to watch!!! The Outsiders is one of my all time favourite books, as I'm sure it is for so many people. I can't even remember how many times I have watched the movie on VHS back in the day, never mind DVD. Recently my 15 year old son was introduced to the book and film and he embraced them both as much as I did at his age. We watched this together and we were both amazed to see how much love and detail has gone into the museum. Simply incredible and so good to see! If I ever get to travel over to America....that is on my list of places to visit for sure!

Outstanding. Always loved House Of Pain and The Outsiders. Danny Boy saving the house is dope. I’d love to visit, one of my all time favorite movies 🎥 🍿 movies! So much passion, well done.
LETS DO IT FOR JOHNNY! 👊🏻

Oh that cast! Get the mop! Drooling like a newfoundland watching the family eat dinner. All of the girls in the 80's drooling. Ralph Macchio lives on Long Island down the road from where I lived and is such a great guy! Islander fan. I love Rob Lowe He was my favorite. Matt Dillon My favorite hood! RIP Patrick Swayze. Everyone loved that guy! That was my favorite 80's book S.E. Hinton. I had no idea there was a museum. Wow so nicely done. I am there!
