This is by far the best demo of a video I've seen. The 'tour' of the controls was so clear and concise, I wish more demos were like this. Based on this demo I bought it!
Agreed. I got the collider a few months back, and still watch the YT vids about it. Definitely the most helpful for the stacking bit. Have a balloon. 🎈
More videos please. By far the most engaging and informative "how to use" vid on the Collider. I got the Collider after watching Andy's great sounding and entertaining vid but your video would have also convinced me to purchase, had I watched this first. Did I mention more videos? Spectrum is likely the next SA acquirement.
Great tutorial - thank you. I’ll be dropping the Collider onto a grab n go board and was hoping that I could set up and save a dual delay preset or two for those U2/Floyd moments. Well done on this pedal 👍🏼
I am astounded by this pedal. The sound quality is like being at a movie in surround sound. I have a 90s thinline tele which can be a little twangy sounding at low volumes as well as spanky sounding.. I was wondering if it would sound solid or not and because of the single coils... No issue at all except now I want a guitar with humbuckers to play through this thing. It sounds absolutely beautiful. The unit is so sensitive to your playing.. Which gives it even more nuance to work with. The shimmer setting alone is worth the price imo.. It literally dropped my jaw the first time I hooked it up. It took me a long time to take the dive and splurge on a higher end unit. I am glad I bought this. I don't care if there are some user shortcomings that people mention. There may be but the sound is frikin mind blowing. You'd swear there is an ethereal exotic and heavenly orchestra hidden in the room.. And you almost wonder how it knows what you're thinking. I made a beautiful shimmer and reverse delay setting that you would hear in any big budget project. It's very inspiring. I'm using it stereo of course.. With a Boss 100 watt katana artist.. but the satellite amp is an ancient Zoom amp from the 80s and it sounds unbelievable anyways. This unit is a work of art.
Thanks so much for the positivity! We put years of our life into developing the algorithms (we don't use off-the-shelf, 3rd party reverb processors), the hardware, and the software for this pedal. It's always nice to hear that somebody appreciates our work. Cheers!
I have had my Ventris for about a year now, and it's my go-to reverb for all things synth. I just got my Collider last night and can't wait to hook it up today. This is the pedal I've been waiting for. Like most people, delay and reverb are my favorite effects, and having them together in such and intuitive and powerful configuration is a dream come true. You guys are killing it. Thanks for a great video. I'll definitely be putting this knowledge to good use today!
Unbelievable....sounds beautiful and so flexible!.....love the editing options! I was disappointed when I bought the ocean machine to realize that it had two inputs(trick me once) but they were not separate channels, which does not come in handy with a dual rig. This is gonna be my next delay/reverb purchase, four presets plus what’s already dialed in, so basically five configured sounds and a compact size. Love it!
Glad you like the sounds. Actually there are eight presets available if you put the pedal into "Preset Extension" mode. Each preset includes both the effect saved to the Delay footswitch and the effect saved to the Reverb footswitch. If you have a MIDI controller, you can actually save up to 128 presets on the Collider.
@@sourceaudioeffects Yep. Love my Nemesis and C4. Want the Ventris too, but, I think this will be my next SA pedal, to replace the Avalanche Run V2 on my dry channel!
Great Pedal! Great walkthrough of stacking the effects. How do you deal with the noise generated by the pedal when cascading delay into reverb when recording?
Just got my Collider, and thanks for such a great demo. Is the series/parallel and stereo switching only available through the Neuro app? Not having any luck with that one so far on my Windows 7 computer.
Awesome video. I'm not much of a tweaker...I like keeping it simple, but must admit that it looks doable to program a couple of presets to blow some minds at the next jam session. Thanks for the pro tips.
Hi there, amazing video. Are you able to advise on a constant whining high pitch noise i get when connecting my reverb pedal stereo to my 2 amps? As soon as i take one of the output cables out, the noise stops. How are you avoiding this ground loop issue please? Thanks
Great video! A question: in looking at Nemesis and also Collider videos, sometimes it seems that the effect is very ping-pongy (pure L-R-L-R... on the repeats), and other times it seems like it's more of a continuously panning effect (which I prefer, stereo-ness is more subtle). But I don't see any control that allows you to set that, one way or the other. Is there such a control? Or is it always just hard-panned ping-pong, and I'm imagining the panning? Thanks!!
Hold down control button on the top of the pedal and turn the “delay” knob all the way to the right and then right will equal left for a full stereo and no panning effect. This can also be selected in the software. Ping pong is described as 1/2 in this pull down tab.
When in Parallel mode are the delays panned hard left and hard right in the stereo field, or can they both share the same stereo field? This would be REALLY cool with Ping Pong delays and a filtering option to the repeats.
By default the in parallel mode you will hear a stereo ping-pong effect with the delay as well as stereo reverb effects. You can also run the pedal so that you hear the effect assigned to the left footswitch coming out of OUTPUT 1 and the the effect assigned the right footswitch coming out of OUTPUT 2. To do this, you need to go into the Neuro Desktop Editor, in the Routing Option module, and select the "Split Stereo (Left=A, Right=B)" option.
Good to know. Can the same be done to the inputs to have two totally separate signal paths? ie run two different signals in and out with different delays at the same time.
You can hold the right (reverb) switch to cycle down the four presets and the left (delay) switch to cycle up. If you want to do that for presets 5 to 8 you need to use the button on the back so that will involve some bending down.
Yes, just hold down the CONTROL INPUT button on the topside of the pedal while you turn the DELAY knob all the way to the right. Release the CONTOL INPUT button and the delays will no longer ping-pong and you can use the DELAY know to set the Time of the delays (or the tap tempo switch).
is it possible to route 100% dry signal just to right chanel and just one delay signal around 15 ms 100% just to left chanel to generate a kind of pseudo stereo effect and if so, can i run a stereo reverb engine simultaneously?
If you set the Routing Option to Parallel Mode and select the "Split Stereo (Left=A, Right=B), you can set one side to dry only and the other side to dry with delay. You will not, however, be able to add reverb to both OUTPUT 1 & 2. You can keep the delay going to OUTPUT 1 and the reverb going to OUTPUT 2.
Yes. You need to download the Neuro App through the App Store. Use an Apple headphone adapter and plug the Neuro Cable (1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS) from the headphone adapter to INPUT 2 on the Collider. Turn the volume all the way up on your iPad.
If the pedal is in Series (cascade) mode and you want to put it in parallel mode, just hold down the CONTROL INPUT button on the top side of the pedal and move the KNOBS toggle switch to the LOCK (center) position. This will put the pedal into parallel mode. Warning, if you move the KNOBS toggle again away from the center position, then move it back to the center without holding down the CONTROL INPUT button, the pedal will go back to Series Mode. However, if you save the the preset (hold down the (HOLD) SAVE button for about 3 seconds), that preset will remain in Parallel mode. I hope this makes sense. :-)
@@sourceaudioeffects thanks for reply, so prob best to save a few presets in parallel then can move knobs and adjust without it going back into cascade. Thats great. Cheers again. Superb pedal now I've tamed it a bit ! Gotta say I'm loving that plate reverb subtly on for 70s riffs and leads. Very nice.
Hi, I reckon it isn't possible to 'swap' out one of the algorhytms with one you like better? Lets say I really want to have the pitch-shifted delay from the nemesis ? Wouldn't that be a cool feature to add at some point?
Yeah but then why keep the Nemesis as a separate product? Same for the Ventris. That's more of a Tc Electronic toneprint thing. I have a Nemesis and 3 other One Series pedals, and a TC Triple Delay & Sub 'n Up and i think Source Audio has far better algorithms. Pedal in front of two Supro Titan amps.
This is freaking awesome
Can the presets be change using the foot switch's, or just the button? He didn't mention in the video.
Yes!
Will the editor work with an iPad ?
Yes. You need to download the Neuro App through the App Store. Use an Apple headphone adapter and plug the Neuro Cable (1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS) from the headphone adapter to INPUT 2 on the Collider. Turn the volume all the way up on your iPad.
Very cool
so can you have 2 delays AND a reverb?
Also, can you change the timing for the delays separately when using two together?
No it’s only one of each or two of the same. Using two delays, for example, sacrifices the reverb function.
How do you put the Collider into parallel mode manually ? Anyone any ideas on how to do this without apps or computers ? Cheers.
If the pedal is in Series (cascade) mode and you want to put it in parallel mode, just hold down the CONTROL INPUT button on the top side of the pedal and move the KNOBS toggle switch to the LOCK (center) position.
