Very nice. Makes me wish I still had my 650. Mine had about the same amount of hours on it as yours. Mine saw very heavy use and was routinely pushed to do chores better reserved for a larger tractor. The 50 series tractors were rock-solid. Should last forever.
Wow very nice 650! I have been using my 650 for clearing a heavily overgrown feild and it has a surprizing amount of power for its size i will adimit its doing better than i thought it would.
Used to own one just like that.. Could kick my butt for selling it. Mine had 1200 plus hours on it when i bought it. Amazing little 2 cylinder engine. Like this tractor a lot.
What a restoration! I am trying to source a complete front driveshaft for one of these machines. does anyone know where i might find one or even parts of one?
Anthony B; well the factory rear tire size was tough to find. The rear wheels and tires that I used were designed for the skid-steer. I had custom spacers with new boat patterns made. It was hard to keep the same overall diameters the same. I’m sorry but I don’t recall the exact size. Unfortunately there aren’t many options with the factory rim sizes
Great restoration, where were you able to source all of the parts? I have one that the rod went through the block. Planning on doing a similar restoration with it.
If the rod went through the block…. Yikes. If you already have a spare block, everything else available from JD. If the crank bent too…. Your best bet is a donor tractor perhaps, pending on condition, might be better and cheaper just to replace whole tractor. Ouch! Sorry for your luck sir.
@@BobWilson84 i found a block, the rest of the engine is still in good condition. It looks like the rod cap came loose and fell. I migjt need a crank tho. I was wondering where you bought your parts because i couldn't find a rebuild/overhaul kit for the engine thats in it.
Absolutely beautiful. I know this is almost 8 years old, but I can't help but keeping looking at this and wanting to do the same to my 650. Question, is how did you put the oil pressure gauge on there?
Did you ever start the ROPS project? I just bought my first tractor/project. It was my uncles 83 650 and I'm about to tear into it. Saw your post on the forum page and it was amazing! Thanks for sharing the project.
@@woky444 Crap, this was long ago. You should look for the service manual, it spelled it all out. Come to think of it.... i may have needed a metric to NPT adapter. Like I said, years ago.
Hey Todd! Yea this tractor is long done, sold to fund various other projects. I know your comment was made in a lighthearted manner, but it brings up a good point. Unless you already have attachments for a tractor this old, or have a very specific use for this size of a tractor, you can't beat what new tractors offer in terms of functionality, flexibility, and ergonomics. I purchased a new BX1880 and it's light years ahead of this 650. Funny how 40 years of design and engineering does that!! Have a good one.

wow! I love these tractors and I must say that is one of the nicest restorations I have ever seen

Can you provide details on tire make, model, and size as well as rim size? The R4s look good on a 650

what size tires do you have on it??
Truly a work of art !!!! It's perfect. ..
I have the same tractor, where did you buy the wheels and tires from
Your tractor looks and sounds just like my Yanmar 165D. Wonder if I could use John Deere parts to rebuild my tractor.
John Deer uses Yanmar engines in their smaller tractors. Good engines.

Where did you go for parts? And do you have before and after shots of this project? Very, very nicely done sir!
I have one, I'm working on it now, runs but needs love. Where did you source parts?
Most everything from the Deere dealership or searching for Yanmar parts on eBay sir
wow looks better than new kudos

Hi, I think there was a oil port somewhere on the engine with 1/4 NPT threads. I ran a simple mechanical gauge, nothing fancy.
Wow that thing looks Sweet

You bet, good luck with your 650! Never did get around to the ROPS. I actually talked to the guy who owns it now and he said it’s been trouble free.
What did this restoration cost? I'd love for mine to look that good again.
Amazing. It's better than new.
bad ass dude! now...paint that alternator. ;)
what was the tires and brand of them,I own a 650 I thin its a 88 or 89 I use to own a yanmar D165
A genuine question, are these 650’s low in HP 3 point hitch wise?
Yep, they can’t do much with the PTO. Maybe A 48” brush hog, nothing more
@@BobWilson84 How is this tractor doing today? If you still have it; know?
How long and how much did it cost to fully restore? My grandpa just handed his 650 down to me and I would like to get it restored.
Hi, took about 4 months, and probably around 4000 in parts.
BobWilson84 thanks, I’m excited to get her back to original! Your looks amazing by the way!!
Beautiful!
Where did you buy your parts?
very nice what year is it?
How you added the oil pressure gauge?
Hey Max. There’s an oil port on the block, just used that
BobWilson84 can you help me to locate it? I found 2 holes that are on left side on same horizontal line with oil pressure sensor, are those the ones?

Almost too beautiful to use. Almost...
For sale
I'll pay you $10000 for it. I know it was 7 years ago.
