Interestingly, in Zyuranger, it *was* another planet (passing close to Earth at the time) that the astronauts found the bad guys sealed on, which is why it doesn't look at all like the Moon we see later on. Did the comic accidentally remember the first episode of Zyuranger instead of Power Rangers?
