So, let me get this straight... instead of pulling a "Clone Saga" by having Linkara be a clone all along... he is pulling an "Identity Crisis" by having a teammate pull a mindwipe in secret.
Except now we know three things: 1) Linkara whichever was the original was effected by a memory virus. Not a wipe, a pathogenic virus. Likely keyed to his genetic structure. 2) The "other" Linkara would have been programed with memories up to the point of replacement for the sake of infiltration. 3) The "other" Linkara has no long term memory at all. Given Linksano's track record; and knowing what we know now; its entirely possible that the "clone" is in fact the original who's memory has been damaged by the virus over a prolonged period. Additionally the only true way of knowing would be if Linksano's control over the clone was still in effect. Either one could still be the clone.
It's leave, you idiot. "Make like trees and leave". You sounds like a dang fool when you say it wrong. I meant no offense, but I couldn't resist typing this.

Funniest thing I ever heard in reference to Star Trek. Two kids would get together and watch the show on a regular basis. They had started a new episode after seeing a few and one of the kids turned to the other and said "I wonder when they will get to Boldlygo?" The other kid turned to him and asked rather confounded "What?" His friend replied "They say at the beginning of each episode that they are going to the planet Boldlygo, but they never get there." The other kid just shook his head in bewilderment and muttered "Why are we friends?"
It'll be interesting to see how the Clone Saga arc will fit in with Halloween. After all, there does tend to be a theme of the comics matching with the storyline. Silent Hill dealt with psychological breakdowns in the face of the supernatural, The Things dealt with paranoia over what/who is and what/who isn't, and Nightmare on Elm Street dealt with fear of abstract entities. Gonna be something to see how going back to each of these franchises and the Clone saga come together for whatever's going down in October.
The fear that comes from revisiting the past and its mistakes would be my guess. Especially as looking at Linksano's explanation, it makes less and less sense for current Linkara to be the original.
Thing was is that the clone matured naturally, like Cell from Dragonball Z. At this point it's an artificial life form that can call it's own shots. Currently, it's mindset is that of a confused baby, as it wasn't fully programmed like a kaminoian clone trooper, bred to fight.
... Batman, thy name is Linkara. But geez, this is a lot of stuff. And I love every bit of it! The weird comic was alright, I'm not really into old, pulpy science fiction comics so it was just weird to see Star Trek like that… but it was sufficiently fun and entertaining to watch! And oof. …I just hope this leads to a nice conclusion to my favorite clone plot so far
How can we all forget the part where they got to go to Io to see that Monolith? Or the part when they got to find a lost robot for American Robot? Those were my favourite bits.
"This is a living nightmare!" Ya need to watch Space Ghost eventually. This was the perfect time for the "Living with you is like living in a living nightmare!" clip.
Fun fact: Mom is a major trekker so some of her coworkers got a book of old Star Trek Comics as a gift. Sure enough I checked and the book called "Star Trek- The Key Collection" is a collection of the gold key comics including this one. So for once I can follow around with Linkara while he reviews the comic.
Planetary Genocide! Truly the best solution. With the way the last episode ended I was expecting something bigger. But the prospect of Linksano being able to tweak people's memories like that... It's still a pretty big deal. I've got to wonder why Linksano didn't bring up this bit when the clone first showed up. There's also the question of where the clone got the coat and hat, and why part of his outfit is burnt. Overall I feel this explanation seems legit, but it raises further questions. I'm betting that those questions are intentional.
I do think the clone might be tied to Mechakara. But not like most varients of this theory. Anyway you think of it, it just doesn't make sense to me. If the plot hole energy regenerated anything from Mechakara it would be his skin. Which wasn't really his skin at all. He took it from the Linkara of his world. And wouldn't that Linkara have a motive to attack Pollo? After all Mechakara WAS his world's Pollo. He seemed harmless to him at first before he was stabbed in the back. He also might know enough about the transferring device to attack that first. If I'm onto something I'd expect more of Linkara's robots and AI allies will be attacked.
It's been a long time since we've had a new AT4W episode being posted on the traditional Monday. Guess Lewis is all caught up on things. 0:38- Either way, we all got to see Mirrorkara (Mirror Universe Linkara) for the first time. Some time ago at Barnes & Noble, I saw some hard cover copies of the complete Gold Key Star Trek comics collection. Just FYI. 3:58- (As Judge Dredd) I knew you'd say that. 5:09- I was thinking more of Star Trek vs. the Little Shop of Horrors. 8:22 & 8:30- "Star Trek vs. the Thing" and "Star Trek vs. Evil Dead." ...SOMEONE NEEDS TO FREAKIN' DO THOSE. 14:39- I still think that the writers and artists of this thing were smoking SOME plants when they were making this thing. 15:13- With dialogue like this, I feeling like this is a Star Trek TOS episode that would later be rifted on MST3K. 18:14- I don't think Alfred Pennyworth thought that either. As always, looking forward to seeing what's gonna happen in October.

So thus ends the journey of star trek comics for the time being. As always good content, live long and prosper Linkara, best captain. Even if the linkara, we've been following for years, MAYBE a clone?!? #StarTrekSeptember #STARTREKTEMBER
Suddenly realized that October is only a week away--where has this year gone?! I need to raid the dollar section at the store to decorate my work desk... But super excited to see what Linkara pulls out for the tenth anniversary, and of course to see Moarte again!
Yes, it's accurate that the command shirts were actually green. Note the dress uniforms and Kirk's alternate tunic. Those were made of different materials and the colors showed up more accurately.
12:37 I had no plans of doing this whatsoever! However, I was planning on coming up with some wordplay about the line before. Sen-trees, there's gotta be a play on words there...
When the tumbleweeds showed up, I was half surprised you didn’t make a Bramblin/Brambleghiest joke. But then I remembered when this episode came out and I guess it would have been unfair of me to expect a joke about a Pokémon that hadn’t been made yet
LINKARA: (To Linksano) Sooooooooo you're saying you're first plan to try and conquer the world when Mechakara was still a threat was actually this long intriicate and well thought out plan of working with me to make a clone of Spoony so you could make clones of everyone else to take over likely everyone at [TGWTG] and then the planet, even thinking as far as to use mind wiping technology so I would completely forget I even asked you that or that we had ever previously worked together or even known one another. DR. LINKSANO: Correct. LINKARA: But when that plan backfired due to taking too long you're next plans were in succession, taking out the continuity alarm; teleporting a copy of Sultry Teenage Super Foxes into my hand; Taking away my gun and lighter for all of five seconds; getting Film Brain to lock me in a room and review the spirit and then manipulating hyper time to gather a copy of Insano copies that were easily beaten down... also within like five seconds. DR. LINKSANO: *Sighs* Yes that... all also happened. LINKARA: Soooooooo you only had that one plan didn't you and just winged a bunch of random elements together? *Crosses arms* See this is why you shouldn't of tried taking over the world. DR. LINKSANO: Look the fact I couldn't even take over the room of that blasted creature Moarte for more then a month was more then proof of that. Felt something like that could of been a good added joke except with uh better dialogue but still good stuff with this though I'm sure since this is the clone saga we'll have to have more of a twist then just this explanation. I mean Linksano hasn't even whipsered into either Linkara or the clone's ears like five time that the other one's the copy and they're the original or gotten like 6 minutes of clone angst so what sort of clone saga is this anyway?
Surprised there wasn't a clip of 'The Great Vegetable Rebellion' from Lost in Space. Seemed rather fitting in some amazing feat of impossible hpapenings.
Imagine a Western set on this planet. The face-off between the outlaw and the ranger begins, the sun begins to set... and then the _tumbleweed_ eats them both.
You know, Linkara, I've watched some time ago second season of "Toys That Made Us" and the first episode was about Sta Trek toys. Apparently when Star Trek: TOS was popular, toy companies tried to cash in on it... but the toys they were making were basically old toys recolored and with Star Trek label slapped on it. Most of early toys for ST had to do with the show. It was only in when TNG started that companies put an effort into making Sta Trek toys. In a way this comic is in the same vein - nobody on the team watched the show but they still wanted to cash in on Star Trek.
I love how in old Star Trek, the ship's speed and scope was so much grander. They could go to the edge and center of the galaxy no problem. Then in this comic, they just casually travel to a completely different galaxy.
You given that you said that Clone are still Human. I think that no matter who was the original, that the other one would life a happy life, I mean Linkara still taking part of CoC, I don't think they would care if Linkara is artificial born or natural born. The only think that I can think that would work, if the other Linkara show off his inhumane trait like Holo-linkara did before, not because of being a Clone, but do to the fact that this Linkara never realised that he was an asshold thank to Miss Gun Girl. To show the before and after Linkara. The Past and Today, The Alpha and the Omega.
So this leads to one question on my mind, if this is true, then did linksano lie that the second linkara isn't a clone, or is there actually a third linkara. Sense linksano said the other linkara didn't have the markers of a typical clone.
How long before Linkara's clone combines with the vegetation from K-G, tries to kill Linkara because of an identity crisis, joins forces with Lavidian Scarn (that has become a bubblegum humanoid) and then becomes a tree and a sword as part of his redemption?
You know, there *is* an episode of The Animated Series where a sentient species of plants is the antagonist. The episode, though, is better known to the fandom for giving us Spock 2, AKA Giant Spock.
1:55 You could have gone to the comments section for Star Trek: Phase II's "Blood and Fire" episodes for that, until they tellingly turned the comments off.
Checklist for the next episode: Portable fan (handheld is acceptable) Pokeball minigun headphones for sirens as much random stuff (the more esoteric the better) as possible for infuriating puzzles
Huh, not what I was expecting from this storyline. What I mean is that most of the recent storylines have had some cosmic or mystical twist to them but here it's a straight sci-fi clone scenario. That's not a bad thing, this show did start out with a primarily sci-fi flavor so it's nice to see the show getting back back to its roots.
Frankly there should be guards on hand at the science lab, given how many horrible things end up happening in there. Might as well have them get killed right away instead of having to race over to the episode's threat and THEN get butchered.
12:30 In the words of the great Geddy Lee "There is unrest in the forest. There is trouble with The Trees. For the Maples want more sunlight and the Enterprise cannot defy the Prime Directive to assist them"
Interesting how much Dr. Linksano has grown to trust Linkara in that he's opening up to him about this old evil plan of his that never came to fruition. Talk about character development.
Sorry I am from Germany, so please excuse my langue. I now this comic as one of my frist Star Trek Experiences. Here in Germany we had Reruns of the Original Series in the 70TV. But in my Memories, the frist look was this Star Trek Comic.
Maybe I missed something (and I'm not just saying that, I am prone to missing important bits of information in stories) but I swear they never determined the age of that planet; the reason this is important is because their excuse for destroying all the life on that planet was that the spores from that planet could potentially destroy all life in the galaxy, but if the planet had been around for many millions or even billions of years, and all the plant life had reached it's current evolutionary state by at least the last few millions of years, wouldn't it be safe to assume that the spores don't have a very long lifespan outside of their own planet?
A good explanation for major discrepancies this comic and the TV-Show is that this comic is actually set in a parallel universe - not dissimilar to elements from your first review of the Gold Key Star Trek comics. Coincidence - or all part of your ten year long masterplan, Linkara? lol
Well mystery mostly solved! Now we just need to find out who shot at him, why antique girl betrayed them, who she's working for, and why the clone knows her.
Silent hill next huh....so basically Linkara is reviewing a comic book that he has created more scary storylines than it has? ....this is going to be fun :D I look forward to it.
17:25 "He says that eventually the spores will strike other planets. Except, of course, like you said, it's going to take an absurdly long time to reach. I know there are some organisms with an insane lifespan, but come on. These things can survive the vacuum of space for thousands of years and eventually hit other planets?" You're never played Chrono Trigger, I take it. This, I suspect, could be Lavos's origin.
Spock and Kirk would later be awarded the Johnathan Archer Humanitarian Award for their actions here.
And it would take until Jean Luc Picard (Insurrection) or Kathryn Janeway (depending on which comes first) to be given such a Prestigeous award again!

True, but unless the clone was programmed with any actual commands, I'm not sure if he's an actual threat.
so the clone aged naturally ? Linksano mentioned that clones have indications of being cloned
Well if it was a clone he created he wouldn't have told the truth.

I love how in old Star Trek, the ship's speed and scope was so much grander. They could go to the edge and center of the galaxy no problem. Then in this comic, they just casually travel to a completely different galaxy.
These plants remind me of the plants creatures from the Doctor Who classic Tom Baker story Seeds of Doom.
So Spock, if you think the spores could survive in space for lightyears, could they also complete the Kessel run in less than twelve parsecs?
12:51 I am very disappointed to find that "sentries" was not spelt "sentrees"
How long before Linkara's clone combines with the vegetation from K-G, tries to kill Linkara because of an identity crisis, joins forces with Lavidian Scarn (that has become a bubblegum humanoid) and then becomes a tree and a sword as part of his redemption?
9:29 I feel like this was a missed opportunity. I feel like it would have been funnier for "...and then..."
Well there always another "missed opportunity joke list"
True that; finger's crossed.
Good ol' Gold Key.
Good ol' screw around with Carl Barks's work Gold Key.
You know, there *is* an episode of The Animated Series where a sentient species of plants is the antagonist. The episode, though, is better known to the fandom for giving us Spock 2, AKA Giant Spock.
1:55
You could have gone to the comments section for Star Trek: Phase II's "Blood and Fire" episodes for that, until they tellingly turned the comments off.
Checklist for the next episode:
Portable fan (handheld is acceptable)
Pokeball
minigun
headphones for sirens
as much random stuff (the more esoteric the better) as possible for infuriating puzzles
This reminds me of browsheldhigh’s classic episode “twilight of the ice nymphs”
“Trees!”
Only the greatest of galaxies gallop gracefully,
Frankly there should be guards on hand at the science lab, given how many horrible things end up happening in there. Might as well have them get killed right away instead of having to race over to the episode's threat and THEN get butchered.
12:30 In the words of the great Geddy Lee "There is unrest in the forest. There is trouble with The Trees. For the Maples want more sunlight and the Enterprise cannot defy the Prime Directive to assist them"
12:15 mark "Some kind of living vegetation"??!! ALL VEGETATION IS LIVING!!!
12:29
The trees... they're moving... closing in on us!
Probably sen-trees!
15:33 - ""I assume that you worked out that whole longitude-latitude thing. I know you get confused sometimes."
When are you going to make another storyline number video
A good explanation for major discrepancies this comic and the TV-Show is that this comic is actually set in a parallel universe - not dissimilar to elements from your first review of the Gold Key Star Trek comics. Coincidence - or all part of your ten year long masterplan, Linkara? lol
Love the content, Link. Keep it up!
“Feed me, Captain Kirk”
I have and had no intention of making a "triggered" joke. I will however point out that those sentries were "sen-trees".
Oh great, now we know where STD got the stupid spore drive from.
Well mystery mostly solved! Now we just need to find out who shot at him, why antique girl betrayed them, who she's working for, and why the clone knows her.
I think I have a reprint of this. The story is familiar, but the cover was based on the comic.
Most useful red shirt death ever. Also "We come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill"
Nice ending!
These things can survive the vacuum of space for thousands of years and eventually hit other planets?"
You're never played Chrono Trigger, I take it. This, I suspect, could be Lavos's origin.
