All right linkara fans, next time he's makes an appearance at a comic con or the alike someone needs to make a pizza for him and cut its prices to resemble pyramid heads...well head
Konami is going to become a full fledged Casino running company soon. They are planning to open new casinos in time for Tokyo Olympics.. so Silent Hill Slot machines anyone?
Whatley, a letter off from Whateley, from HP lovecraft's the Dunwich Horror. Lavinia Whateley, the mother of the Horror, was an Albino. wonder what else the guy filed the serial numbers off of?
Linkara, my friend, I don't watch all of you videos, but your consistency and dedication to your work always fascinated me. So, here's to you. And here's to another 10 years.
wow i had no idea scott was deceased until you pointed it out in this video, the guy seemed like he could have been a great Lovecraft scribe (and why he didn't just flat out make lovecraft comics idk lovecraft's work is public domain) all he really needed was better focus when it came to his writing and especially a batter artist. the closest he came to passable in terms of art and narritive was silent hill dying inside's first two issues, where the art was done by ben templesmith of 30 days of night fame.
Also, while in horror stories sometimes it makes sense that a mysterious being would disappear behind a truck or train, sometimes they do it in non fantastical stories and you just end up wondering where could Sean Connery and Catherine Zeta Jones could have gone except maybe jump into the train tracks.
Congrats on hitting 10 years and really interesting to see Silent Hill make a return on this show. Fun Fact, I'm actually an indie game developer who is working on his next horror game, and one of the games that I'm looking into to get some inspirations from games like Silent Hill 4: The Room. I have already played the entire series before and seen many videos about the game, but I'm re-looking into the series and some other Horror games for reference and inspiration uses. P.S. if anyone is interested, my first horror game is an RE7 style game with a Story/Setting bases on The Thing and it's called FROSTBITE: Deadly Climate and it's completely Free on Steam.
All these forced remarks about hunger... Then he passes by the one movie theater in town with its single screen playing Transformers: The Movie, and what can be heard from inside? Kup and Hot Rod fighting for their lives to Spectre General's 'Hunger'.
Since you ask, it is possible for a reporter to write a single piece and suddenly have job opportunities open up if it's a really good piece and gets lots of media attention. But it's very rare for that to happen. It's basically the same odds as someone writing a single book and suddenly having a career like Stephen King. That doesn't stop a lot of people from trying to plan their whole life around it, though.
Again... The fire was accidental and has no correlation with Alessa's pregnancy. She freaked out during the process and exploded the boiler with her powers, accidentally. Origins don't get at all the process, even showing multiple "rituals" and saying that none of them were the one who impregnates her.
The fire being accidental is a THEORY - one I do not ascribe to. I say it was a cover story. The fire article says it was BELIEVED to have been caused by the boiler and the game director has said (in albeit broken English) that he believes it was on purpose by the cult. The Silent Hill Wikia has a link to the tweet in question where he says so. In addition, the Book of Lost Memories (which predates Origins) apparently confirms that it was deliberately started by the cult.
Actually I thought she was set on fire because her soul somehow split and either became or entered Cheryl. She was set on fire and kept in a state of near death so the other half of her soul would rejoin with her body and she would give birth to either Incubator or Incubus depending on Harry's actions in the story (Incubator if Koffman isn't there to throw the Eglophatus on Alessa, Incubus if he is) Then again I don't pay attention to Origin's retcons so :/
Wrong. That was only ever a fan theory, crafted by someone trying to connect dots that didn't necessarily join up. And it's wrong. Later games debunk that idea. The thing Alessa is doing unconsciously with her powers is causing the Fog World and Otherworld shifts, and causing the monsters to appear. THAT is the only significance of "The Monster Lurks". Silent Hill 1 itself points out the police report claiming "boiler explosion" seems to have been tampered with, so the "Alessa unconsciously exploded it" theory was on shaky ground to start with. And two pieces of lore in Silent Hill THREE - so, no trying to whine "BUT 0WIGINS NAWT TEAM SILENT, IT NO COUNT" - confirm that Dahlia deliberately burned her. One is a book found in Otherworld Brookhaven talking about ritual sacrifices that mentions a more dignified sacrifice where the victim is burned (and how "only the clergy could be sacrificed"). The other is one of Harry Mason's journals that explicitly said Dahlia burned her. So every big name fan whining "0wigins got it wong" is a dumbass who's ignoring Team Silent-created lore, either because they're toddlers who can't deal with not winning the argument or because they somehow can't wrap their hands around the idea that Dahlia - who SH1 shows to be pretty abusive to Alessa - burned her daughter on purpose. TLDR, "Alessa unconsciously exploded the boiler" has been debunked since SILENT HILL THREE. Get the fuck over it.
This feels like the whole comic is just going to end up as a Snickers commercial or something. Monster shows up, eats a snickers and is just normal again. You're not you when you're hungry indeed.
I’ve seen all of your AT4W videos except a couple of the Silent Hill videos. I decided to watch it this time around. I was a little creeped out until the donuts showed up. Hahaha.
"they bite they bite" Am I the only one who thought the hobo was gonna start singing the Street Shark's Theme. "...they bite, they fight, they say almost everything right...."
Holy crap... I don't know why I never made this connection before, but Scott Ciencin was an author of children's books as well. He wrote several Dinotopia and Godzilla books that I loved as a kid. I couldn't tell you if they were any good from an adult's perspective, but still... going from Dinotopia to Silent Hill: Dead/Alive is quite a change. I'm surprised he didn't use a pseudonym for one or the other. Also makes it even sadder that the Silent Hill comics were so bad.
Linkara, you missed the man in the trench coat in the background who loved burgers. Or the guy with puppy dog eyes who's mouth was covered in blood. Silent Hill vs. the Winchester Brothers. Let's green light this bastard.
Okay, for funsies, let's try and piece out the parts of this story so far that would make for a (good?) Silent Hill game: - The protagonist is a reporter completely unsatisfied with his place in life. He obsessively seeks out leads to make the money needed to move somewhere better, to the negligence of everything and everyone else in his life, including and his lover. - He comes across some magic mumbo-jumbo and begins to notice the strange things happening around him, because he is actively aware of them now. - The townspeople are living idyllically, and are possibly under the subtle effects of a drug (or magic) beginning to purvey the town. Signs of affliction could include a pleasant attitude and mind, but eventually develops into partial delirium and hunger - which may or may not accelerate the process. - Given enough time, the affected begin to hallucinate people around them turning into monsters - given how Perkkins still talked normally as a monster, it was clearly a hallucination. - Potentially, the advanced delirium could drive people into frantic, aggressive behaviors, which work in tandem with the hallucinations to give the impressions of a monster attack. - Whately is this story's resident cultist trying to do something. In a well-written plot, we could credit him and his cult pals as the sect that set off the madness that made the town what it is in the present. - He is aware of the effects of the magic/drug and is antagonizing people to expedite the process. Seeing as he seems to do his work in isolation, he clearly has the opportunity to kill someone who is uncooperative. - The fact that Douglass caught onto this process makes him a target of interest - possibly as a cult propagandist - given his ability to spread information to so many people so quickly. More to come in the proceeding parts...
Yeah, there's a lot of good ideas here that this story just doesn't know how to handle. Which is more than most of the Silent Hill comics have managed. At least I can say there's SOMETHING good in it.
I really like the idea of hunger that Ciencin was trying to run with here. Hunger can be a state of mind just as much as it is a physical need. EG, Doug’s ‘hunger’ for the truth, Rosie’s desire to live a quiet life (and the brief sexual appetite she displays), etc. If Scott had been a bit more deliberate with his word choice, I feel like we’d have the skeleton of a decent Silent Hill game.
+ Shou Alias I can get that. His biggest problem is definitely a lack of subtle world building. Frankly if you reduce the number of times he used the word "hunger" in this book, you could definitely take it more seriously.
For a silent hill GAME, this story and idea fucking sucks in general and misses the point of SH completely, no offence, but i guess itd make for a mediocre enough book or comic
Now I want Pizza Hut, Linkara! Do I have to fight psychology themed monsters to get a pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese and the bread corners stuffed with cheese?
I don’t know anything about these comics, but in the case of Ms. “Small hands, big head” McGee, it just looks like a cut and paste of photos and a filter or two through Photoshop to make it look like a drawing.... maybe not, but it’s just a feeling.
Linkara-AtopTheFourthWall Ah, NOW I understand why you said it was cancelled. Either way, still flower puns (Pink Heather, Black Dahlia, White Claudia).
So the photographer's name is Doug, and he lives in Silent Hill, a place that punishes people for their sins, where they either find redemption or die... Nah, too easy. Now if his name was Mike, that would be different.
I just couldn't figure out what the theme of the comic was. If only it wasn't so subtle and Machiavellian and more direct and pounded it into my head repeatedly
An old lady, come on! The key to Pyramid Head's true identity is in the pyamid itself, a calling card from the true source of evil in Silent Hill, and which to this day threatens all of our daily lives... Ancient Egypt!
I´ll flip my table if this comic turns out to be a giant ad for Hostess Fruit Pies.
Or clickbait
That... would have honestly made it SO MUCH BETTER.
John O ́neil if only
Even better- A Snickers ad.
Whately defeated by his own hunger for hostess furit pies!
See, my first thought with the shadow was “Oh my God-Pyramid Head is Granny Goodness!”
Worse, Pyramid Head is linked to the incredible evil that is ANCIENT EGYPT!
(cue Imperial march soundbite)
All bad comics connect to Countdown somehow
That "grape jelly and mustard" bit never gets old. I've started using it in real life.
All right linkara fans, next time he's makes an appearance at a comic con or the alike someone needs to make a pizza for him and cut its prices to resemble pyramid heads...well head
Why not use chicken fingers instead?
Zero Ryoko, because barbecue chicken finger pizza instead....
Zero Ryoko why not combine them?! Chicken finger pizza!
alaster boneman Love the idea, but pyramids are a 3D shape, so I think a calzone or something would work better.
HanaBakemono what about pizza rolls
I loved you already Linkara, but your dedication to Silent Hill inside jokes and references really seals the deal.
This may sound kinda silly, but I don't think I've ever laughed harder at this show than during The "Silent Hill Pizza Hut" joke.
"Not the Silent Hill PIzza hut!" and "Alan Moore, what are you doing here?!" made me IRL crack up
Konami is going to become a full fledged Casino running company soon. They are planning to open new casinos in time for Tokyo Olympics.. so Silent Hill Slot machines anyone?

wouldn't be surprised if they already made those- I've seen The View slots
Well they already have a pachinko machine for it.... alongside Castlvania.... and Metal Gear.... and, ok now I'm just making myself sad...

I don't care what the fans like?

There TECHNICALLY are, but none of them were ever translated into English.
@@AT4W ... Are you gonna review them?
multilad816 there are novels that have been translated online you can read, but be careful looking for manga. The internet is a strange place.
There's also that odd Gameboy novel, if you can consider it a book.
20:35 I was really hoping for a shawn of the dead reference.
The sheer amount of Zingers in this episode is amazing.
Whately can’t die yet, Linkara. He needs to form the cult of the Entity and begin the ritual to create the Magic Gun.

I get the feeling I've missed so many references since I'm a complete wimp who can't play horror games.
The only one I got was James and Mary
