Great video. I was really baffled by what powers those pins in such a confined area. So the whole housing is pressurized to drive the pins out it appears. Thanks for filming this in such painful cold.

You are right, I ran Service for 27yrs,
That's unfortunate that they still have this issue. I had this issue with my '06 435. I had that coupler repaired several times by several shops (Bobcat, Cat, a local hydro shop) and it never lasted more than half a day before it would leak again. Very early on Bobcat notified their dealers that they would no longer repair those X-Changes under warranty (or so my local dealer told me). The dealer told me that it was a "ground engaging tool" and so I should expect that it would need frequent repair🤥🤨. I think that one of the big issues was that the pins would bleed out before one could engage the bucket. Since it was behind the bucket, the operator wouldn't see it, and thus try to engage the bucket with the pins out. The one that I had did not have those spanner holes (that you need the special tool for) and I'm not even sure if the bushings were threaded. I finally gave up on it and re-installed the manual X-Change. That hydraulic X-Change has been sitting in my scrap pile for over 10 years now. Can my old style unit be upgraded to accept the newer bushings? I might give it another try if I could simply re-tighten those bushings. Even if it were a daily maintenance item.
Been working in the cold for 40 plus years can’t use them in the cold anymore take good care of them

excellent video.We had a e35 with hydraulic exchange and had to reseal it 3 times in 4 years.Finally had enough pulled the hydraulic exchange off and put a manual exchange on .No more problems.

@@T18skyguy ya worked out perfect pin size same diameter. We ended up selling the hydraulic exchange for almost what I paid for the manual exchange.
Your videos are incredibly helpful! I find myself struggling to break loose the cylinder ends on my tractor. Maybe I should look into bobcat equipment lol.
So does that spring push the pins out that switch in the cab release the oil from the inside if that makes sense. I’m no hydraulic guy lol.

I’m curious as to why you went from Deere ag to bobcat, I’m also making the same change from Deere ag to bobcat as a field tech, any advice to make the change go smooth?
@Andrey Merwin the troubleshooting process isn’t much considered to Deere. The information is there but you have to dig a lot more. The business system seems to be a bit more complex/complicated than Deere. I got away from Deere really to broaden my knowledge and the benefits are better. There’s not a huge amount of differences, it’s all nuts and bolts, it just takes patience to get acquainted with the manufacturer diagnostics and service manuals. We are a new branch of only 2 years, so there’s not a lot of bobcat experience at our location. That hinders us a bit too, as we all have to weed through the challenges.
@@coledial8806 awesome, the place I’m going to is fairly new as well and they are adding a full time field guy (me) I have some experience on bobcats from a previous job which will help, are there any tool recommendations you have that are out of the ordinary you’d suggest getting?
@Andrey Merwin nothing too special really. I ended up buying the Deere load tester before I left the dealer there. I always use it when a wiring issue occurs. I also bought the electronic specialities 149 probe set off Amazon along with a cheap oscilloscope. A set of track bars would be handy to have on the truck. Get a creeper and take the wheels off to lay under the cab. I think that’s probably all I’ve ran into so far that I’ve bought.

Another BIG issue is that the seals can come apart then run up the hydraulic lines and stick in the valve! Then you have no hydraulic pressure. This has happened twice to my 35 in the last 3 months! Bobcat is still looking for a solution. I’ll be checking my bushing’s and snap rings regularly.
You are correct, it can cause all kinds of issues.
as an owner of an s175 I appreciate all these instructional videos. Great tool. I was wondering if you could cover skidsteer creep and the procedure to resolve this issue? Also is it possible to add on quick attach to a machine that does not have it?
They are not in our shoes outside in freezing cold or any other weather their in the office warm staying cool or staying dry

Where can you buy the socket tool to remove the x-change head? Trying to find a kit for my "newer" version pistons and seals. Can not see any mention of the specialty tool to remove the head.
My E50 Bobcat the pins are out on the quick exchange they will not move in or out with the machine. I noticed the pin on the left side the lock ring is off and the bushing is screwed out past the lock ring. Nothing is leaking g can I crack the line to relieve the pressure then screw the bushing back in. Or should I replace the bushing and pins. Machine has 1600 hrs on it.
Great video and I love the info, but i still don't know why anyone would run a system that is not a pin grab. It's slightly taller yes, but it's always tight and so much simpler, not to mention opens up rental opportunities. I keep hoping some brand will be the market leader here in the US at making the Scandinavian system standard.

You need a burn barrel on the back of your truck to just deploy it with the crane and keep yourself warm. Maybe some sort of tray to keep your tools on to keep them warmed up too. Great Tips and Techniques! This will help me with my E55. So the Hydraulic Spanner wouldn't have helped rotate that piston 4-plug ring? Is that some sort of home made blade bucket --- did they weld a blade to the teeth on that bucket?
Its common to see a blade welded to the teeth for smooth grading. The spanner might have helped, I will have to try next time.
Quick question is there a way to erase codes from a bobcat 770 manually without a scanner ? Thank you in advance ☺️
Codes are self clearing when issue is resolved, only exception is DCU codes which can not be cleared without scanner

If you pull out the pistons and the spring and just leave in the bushings could this coupler be used a s a standard pin on exchange?
I've got an E20 that loses down pressure in the blade very quickly. Figure its just a relief pressure setting, any advice???

Unrelated to the video, but I have a bobcat question on a weird hydraulic fitting type on an older 863 drive motor hoses.

@tetradgroup except there was no taper for the jic to seal on and the o ring that came up in the diagram wasn't big enough for the male portion to come in contact with. I ended up replacing all 4 drive motor hoses with jic because nobody had ever seen it. It was almost like a reverse DIN

Why didn't they drill a hole through the housing and half way through the bushing so they could put a set screw on it and prevent it from turning?
Possibly in the near future!
Case backhoe cylinders have used set screws drilled into the gland/tube threads to lock the gland into place for decades. They also used a two pin adjustable spanner to turn the end gland onto the cyl barrel. Something like that might allow turning in the loose gland to free snap ring. Also doesn't damage holes in the gland.

I put the part number in the description. It would have to be ordered from the dealer. I'm not aware of any after market options.

Hi, bought a used E32 and one of the ears on the X-change swivel assembly is broken off. Can you let me know the part number for the special socket you used? I imagine you can use the punch method you used to remove the bushing? Thanks for all your videos, very instructive for a new Bobcat owner.
