I'm happy that somehow I figured out some of those licks by myself even never hearing Duane Allman before. Those patterns are the soul of the slide guitar. Probably I was inspired by Dylan's improvisations, so those sounds stuck in my mind.
The "blue note" is in between a major and minor 3rd. Old knowledge. There's another between a 5 and flat five. Good video, good playing, good tone.
Excellent video lesson Dylan, so happy there's a teacher like you with a Duane theme running through the site. He seems to be forgotten to often
Excellent tutorial! The Dickey Betts vid was also outstanding.
This is it right here! Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring! And I saw on IG your perfect engagement photos! I wish y'all all of the happiness!
What a great lesson! Thank you Dylan.
Once you learn open tuning in major or minor, you don't memorize the note names, but the intervals. It's like a major scale is the same intervals for every key. You can start with any note and tune your guitar as a chord.
Great video as always ! Standard tuning slide is awesome ! You're a monster player, keep em coming 🙌
Sweet lesson Dylan!! thanks.
Nice video Dylan. I love working on this!
I love the idea that a specific scale pattern enables you to start to sound like Duane . I wonder if other artists have their scale patterns too? George Harrison maybe? Great vid, thanks Dylan. There's very little standard tuning slide tutorials about so well done!
Great lesson
Thank you very much for your video
😎🎸🎶☮️
This and the last Dickey lesson were really good, man.
I needed this video🤙🏼🤙🏼
Derek Trucks licks in standard next??
Excellent content much appreciated!
Really fantastic video !!!! Thank you so much Dylan !!!! So stunning, sounds so great and everything’s about musicality.
Great lesson Dylan...Thanks!
Thank you!
Thanks for the tips as always, Dylan.
Do you have any tips for playing the slide classics on standard tuning. Songs with big slide chords in open g for example.
great video bro. before seeing your videos I played mainly with the "Haynes" positon, but I like the versatility of your minor pattern. A video on some Trucks single string stuff would be great too.
Love it! F all that tuning, takes me long enough to get my guitar in pristine tune as it is. Thank you.
Lazy
Why?
It shouldn’t take more than half a minute to tune. There are so many tuners that can do whatever key you want.
You don’t even have to spend much.
@@CorbCorbin If you change to alternate tunings, you should also ideally adjust your truss rod. And if you play a guitar with a floating trem, you may also have to adjust the bridge springs, or your bridge isn't gonna be level (which could also lower or raise your action). Definitely helps to have a hardtail, but I still prefer not switching tunings.
What a fantastic video have a wonderful day also i have subscribed to the channel ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Is this you using the Lion? Sounds awesome!!!!Thanks for the lesson
Awesome Dylan! Do you only use your thumb and index finger for picking?
Where did u get the shirt dude? Great video.
Some online store, sorry man I honestly can’t remember it’s been so long! Thanks for watching 🤘🏻
Thanks Dylan. Is it on Patreon?

How about to set your guitar up for slide like Duane Allman.
dmn, all clear until I get to my slide 😂. Just doesn't sound right. Yet...
What made you commit to standard vs. open tuning? I’ve heard you mention it briefly in older videos but is it simply a matter of flexibility, comfort, or something else?
It was mainly that I was starting to feel limited by Open E and unable to break out of sounding like a Duane/Derek clone. Standard felt like uncharted territory and the best place to try to find my own voice, plus I liked the idea of not having to switch guitars to play slide. That said, I still wanted to be able to play that Duane/Derek style stuff in standard if I so desired (they’re still my biggest influences after all), hence relearning it all in standard like I demonstrate in this video!
@@dylanadamsguitar it’s a killer video man I appreciate you making it! I’m having the opposite problem, I feel like I’m going back to old habits and licks when I’m in standard but open D seems to be giving me some fresh ideas. We will see what wins out ultimately!
It would be great to show tabs...But great stuff...Very hard to tell where youre at..Who doesnt love ol Duane's tunes.
6:49!
Dylan. Why is your therockslide slide password protected? what's the password?

Without excellent string dampening, this standard tuning slide is going to sound sour.
