      None. A predator would most likely attack because you surprised them and if a prey was with their offspring, they would also likely attack you. The only way, is to catch them when they don't know you are there.

      @ The Marmots in Banff National Park see hikers as a SOURCE of food. I wound up sharing my supper sandwich with one - just a way of buying it off so it wouldn't eat my new boots. I regretted it later when the low blood sugar hit. 😸

    • @alexshtyn6336
      @alexshtyn6336 10 months ago

      Yeah, nature is not inocente like that at all. Actually, people feeding wild animals is a cause for many attacks because now we're associated with food. Thinking of wild animals as cute is generally a bad thought to act upon.

      It's common wisdom that if you're fishing in bear country and a grizzly walks up, just give them your catch. A couple of trout and salmon aren't worth losing your life over, and the bear is likely to be more interested in the free meal than the human backing away.

    • @gamester512
      @gamester512 Year ago +23

      @palimpalim5291 Yep. Gorillas are herbivores, so they only eat plants, so the only reason they would ever attack is when they feel they or another member of their family is being threatened/attacked. Otherwise they have no interest in harming anyone/thing else. As long as they don't perceive you as a threat, they'll likely leave you alone or may even become curious about you. Plus, in terms of genetics, Gorillas are actually very close relatives of humans. Just a few changes to their genetics and they could pretty much be human. They're also extremely intelligent, to the point that they can learn and understand sign language.
      There was even a Gorilla named Koko who befriended both Robin Williams and a small kitten. Poor Koko was visibly heartbroken when she learned that both Robin and that kitten had died.

      Lions tends to not recognize humans as prey, that is why there were so many encounters that didn't turn ugly.
      On the other hand, a Lion that for some reason can't get catch it's normal prey and in desperation eats a human quickly learn how much easier humans are to catch and have to be killed to stop their killing spree.

They never came close, so I gave up and as I turned around, there were five deer not ten feet behind me. They did not run. They just looked at me like they were wondering what I was doing. They did run when I turned the camera their way though. I never got a shot of a deer that day.

I talk to them from the pool and they will stay until I stop talking. Beautiful, inquisitive creatures.

      @tabby_playz597 It also matters if you're the one approaching them or the other way around. If the pups of a cheetah approach you while you're just sitting down and they check you out, the cheetah will generally not make a move because her pups are just exploring. As long as you don't do something unexpected she won't mind. If you approach them or do something she does not like though..

    Reason why Rhinos are so aggressive is because they're legally blind, and they are on predators hitlist. So they're not seeing a camera man in a vehicle, they're seeing something big, moving on their turf.
    When they don't have to worry about predators, such as in captivity, they're basically just massive golden retrievers

      It was an eurasian brown bear!!! They tend to not kill people unless they feel threatened, (particularlly if mama bear with cubs). They also are smaller than grizzlies and tend to avoid conforntation. Even though some idiot a couple of hundred years ago classified all bears as carnivores (including the giant panda!), the only carnivourous bear is the polar bear, all the rest of them are omnivores (like us), and pandas live in all practicallity like herbivores because they are dependant on bamboo for survival.

      @AnneAslaug well I’m not gonna argue with you bro but if you look at that bears gut, it is freaking packed so maybe that had something to deal with it too, but I’m not an expert. Although I still think that’s Hella lucky

    • @AnneAslaug
      @AnneAslaug Year ago +2

      @johnsmind Honestly, I found it mostly strange. Normal behavior would not be to sit down right next to a human for any wild animal not used to people. Wondering if it is an escapee from a park, or even something mentally wrong with it. Or just like you said, so full it isn't totally aware of it's surroundings. Also we know that cats can develop dementia, so I find it quite likely that the same goes for other mammals as well, and could be a possibility.
      Have u seen "Grizzly Man"? Highly recommended! Wathcing young bears graze like cattle is prizeless!! And the one that ended them was a 27 year old male from a different area that wandered there at a time when the "local" grizzlies had gone onto hibernation, so something was definitely wrong with it.

    There is no such thing a 'silver back' type of gorilla - a 'silver back' is merely an older male gorilla. The wolves shown at 3 minutes in knew the woman with the camera crew.

      The bit about the wolves is some important context. I wouldn't think they would last very long if they were that trusting of all humans.

    • @Thor-Orion
      @Thor-Orion Year ago +11

      @zerotodona1495 no, a silverback is any mature male that has gotten his adult markings. Literally a silver back. Usually they get the markings between the ages of 12-15 years. Every single adult male who has the adult markings is called a silver back. Group structure of gorillas varies but there’s usually only one mature adult male within his troop, once the young males begin to mature they go out on their own and often form bachelor troops until they find females to mate with and then they begin building their own troop.

    • @rtay2691
      @rtay2691 Year ago

      @Thor-Orion More to the point other mature males are generally chased off by the dominate silver back because they will compete for the opportunity to breed. Younger males will still get a chance to breed because there's only so much energy the old guy has ;). Once they challenge for dominance or seen as a threat they are chased off or the leader is sent packing. There is no such thing as a pack of silver backs. I'm not saying you're I'm just adding to your comment.

    My late husband, while at Yellowstone National Park, wanted to get a particular picture at Sunset. He got there several hours early and found the ideal location. He made himself comfortable and sat down. It was apparently a beautiful late afternoon, and fell asleep. He woke up, hearing grunting, chomping, and a little dust blowing in his face. He said he looked around and he realized he was gonna be there for a long time. When he came to the spot, the clearing was empty. At the moment I heard a bison had decided it was time to graze. He was totally surrounded. he realize he was close to the front of the bison so it’ll be a while from the move all the way through. He had no idea the size of the herd because he couldn’t see. He was not going to stand up. They had no real interest in him, only casually. A few will stop and sniff. One of them bump with its head, he said it was gentle for such a big animal with such potential. The herd at one point was so thick he couldn’t see anything around him. he sat quietly, wondering if he could somehow slowly get his camera and take some pictures. Then it was afraid that the sound of the shutter, my startle the heard. He didn’t wanna do any of those things, for fear of being trampled.. ……
    There was still sunlight, even though that heavens were full of color as a sun was slowly sinking into the mountains. When he heard a jeep wandering across the Prairie, blowing its horn, an idiot on a megaphone yelling something. The herd panicked. At that point, they broke into a run. By some miracle, they went around him. He didn’t get hurt in anyway or even bumped. The same cannot be said for his camera, which had been still intact and undisturbed, until the stampede. My late husband said his life passed before his eyes.
    The Jeep pulled up next to him and a park ranger got out … he was furious. Announcing that it was against the rules of the park for him to be so close to the animals. It was dangerous to sit in the middle of a herd of buffalo. Blah blah, blah blah blah…….. I know my late husband, he was burning inside, and when he gets that angry, his voice gets quiet. He told the Ranger what he thought. He walked back to his vehicle carrying the remains of his camera, and drove directly to the headquarters at Yellowstone. Which is where the Ranger was going. My late husband was gonna get charged for something. The Rangers first….. then my late husband. As it happened, my husband had relatives working at the park. None of them were on duty at that hour. The head of the department that was on duty that whole hour was a toothless tiger. But, my late husband got the point across. I didn’t take much for the head of the department on duty, to realize who was at fault….
    If you’re sitting in the middle of a clearing, sound asleep, and I heard of bison surround you, my late husband did exactly what he supposed to do. Don’t move, don’t make any sudden noises, and wait for them to pass. The next day late was up bright or early and in the Rangers office again to talk to someone that had power….. My late husband got his camera replaced or fixed. I’m not sure which. The Ranger, I don’t think lost his job, but there was a reeducation in order.
