Woodturning- You Won't Believe This Stunning Beech Spalting

Todays woodturning project on the lathe is a first for this channel! Its time I begin incorporating some resin into my work and this piece was the perfect candidate! This project started out life as a punky small chunk of Beech that was showing some signs of spalting. So I decided to go ahead and try casting the piece in some resin to not only harden up the wood iteslf but also squeeze a bit more overall height out of the finished workpiece. This project was cast using Alumilites Deep Pour resin and Black Diamond Pigments to add color and was finished using a food safe finish available from Holland Bowl Mill at the link below in the description box. The Finished Bowl is a stunning display of beauty from the spalting and just a hint of the deep blue almost purple resin perfect for any snack or table centerpiece. The bowl measures in at a finished size of 6.75 inches by 3.5 inches.

Super nice. The addition of the resin sure did give a nice smooth edge/rim, and very nice proportions. Still seems like a lot of resin to be turned away and thrown away. The resin does give a lovely counter point to the grain of the wood though. Well done Chase.
