All sentences should be doubled when the crimes are committed by law enforcement. They took a vow to uphold the law.
Doesn't work that way but they got 17 and 40 years on their federal sentences, so they will be old men before they get out.
No police encounter is to the benefit of the taxpayer!

I see the problem..I assumed everyone knew what happened to these two men who were tortured before being shot.
Both cases someone was killed but in only one case were 2 men tortured for 90 minutes.

Some cops? How many have you known that aren't on a power trip? They want power but they're not smart enough to start their own business and get some power that way. They're not patient enough to work their way up in the corporate world and get some power that way either. So they go through a dreadfully brief training program, get a gun and a badge and believe you me they got power! And relatively overnight. :( Truth be known, PDs don't want cops that are smart. They want good little hired killers that follow orders and don't ask too many questions. :(

Where is the attempted murder and hate crime charges? Had the shoe been on the other foot, the two men would’ve gotten life in prison. Officers should get the harshest penalty because they’re supposed to uphold the law.

I grew up in Mississippi, and now I live in Minnesota. If this had happened here, the charges would've been enhanced because they would be considered a gang.

I know first hand of what the two victom's feel after what they went through. There are no words that can explain the emotional pain coming at you from every direction 24/7 . One of the reasons their lawyer delivered their victim impact statements? The victim who was shot through the mouth was a musician--he will never be able to speak normally again, he will never be able to sing again. Those thugs took away his musicianship forever.
