Frida's operatic vocals in the 'instrumental' break of The Day Before You Came are amazing and such a contrast to the more mundane and down to earth lead vocals of Agnetha. Overall, this song is a masterpiece.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention the operatic vocals. I love how mixes with the kind of vox synth too!
@@popcornphilosopher The sound of the sirens ❤️
It's a fantastic song but somehow it's so underrated. It's the lowest peak of their career. Charting failure which made them decided to go their separate ways.
Said of someone one the tube about this one: "People don't realise it but this is truly one of the greatest masterpieces in modern pop music. No chorus, a double-beat that comes at intervals that feel right but you cannot put your finger on, an extremely mundane story that actually is so powerful from what it doesn't say. The feeling of sadness in the song, a contradiction given the implication it is about finding a new lover. There is so much it leaves you thinking about - just wonderful!"
We’ll put! And I agree!
A great story I feel of how mundane life was until that special person came into her life.
It's a real compliment to the person that came into her life. In that way it is very positive. ❣
Only ABBA could make a beautiful song out of just keyboards and drums.
After all these years (I was around when this came out) this is my favorite ABBA song. It has magic.
The day before you came or Cassandra?
I love them both of course, but Day before you came is the first ABBA single I heard and thought: Oh, this is something more than a pop band. So sad they split so soon after this.
According to their sound enginner.M.Tretow Agnetha recorded her part alone with lights dimmed in the studio.Atmosphere was so dark and devastatingly sad that as he said they all felt that this was the end.And it was....up to then.TDBYC was the very last song they ever recorded.
btw JThe Guardian's journalist Stephen Emms took the story a little further by stating
"finishing her vocals, our heroine was to remove her headphones and walk solemnly out into the daylight, never to return".
I’m getting a good image! Perfect atmosphere for the song. And, at least, in the end, there was a happy ending and another album.
I remember when heard this in October 1982, the effect was immediate: the melancholy and sadness mixed with hope.. foreboding of things to come. The song has always lived on with me until this day. The sound of the sirens too hard to resist..
Very beautifully put! I love that!
The most beautiful and haunting song ever made
And fascinating to… maybe one of their most fascinating
Also, there was a part two to this if you didn’t see it it’s in my ABBA Album PARTY!

The day before you came is a hauntingly beautiful masterpiece ❤
Definitely!
I'm very happy to see you again,
with more reactions to ABBA songs.
And congratulations for doing the reactions to both sides of each single from 1982
"The day before you arrived"
It was the last ABBA song recorded.
(until the new album "Voyage")
although it was not the last single
(was next, "Under Attack")
It was one of the last three to barely crack the UK Top 30, a low expectation for what ABBA were used to.
It is said that it was recorded in a dark and humid room, to make it more gloomy and to help Agnetha perform.
It's a fictional story, cryptic lyrics by guitarist Björn and dark music by Benny synths.
I will be honest
Of all their singles, this is the one I like the least (for me it's okay, but not much more, 6/7pts)
Agnetha's vocal performance is the best, but she feels very alone without a classic ABBA chorus and instrumentation.
The official video is also strange, but it is well done,
in relation to the story the lyrics tell
Once again Agnetha looks alone, now as an actress,
the rest of the members of ABBA appear only at the end and disaggregated
I understand that many fans like it, it is even well positioned in the votes for the best ABBA song.
(it's number 3 for British fans, only behind
# 1 "The Winner Takes All" and #2 "Dancing Queen")
I also know that it is part of the musical research and experimentation of ABBA's recent years.
But this song is not the style of music I like
and Agnetha iseems as a solo artist.
That's why I prefer her other songs from before her, where the four members are more involved, in addition to other musical genres.
For example, I prefer ABBA singles.
Ring Ring, I do , I do I do I do I do
Head over heels, Under attack
their other singles that were not in the Top 10 in the UK in their time between 1973/1982
it’s kind of hard for me to say because I haven’t heard a great deal of ABBA’s catalog. But I did really enjoy TDBYC.It’s more spare than I was expecting but that kind of added to the charm after I listen to it a few times. That’s interesting that it was recorded in a humid room lol. I would hate that but I guess anything for a good song haha! And Cassandra grew on me maybe even more so!
I look forward to a Under Attack . Oddly enough, I’ll be listening to the other earlier songs later like I do, I do I do and a ring ring. I wonder if I’ll prefer them?
2 of my all time favourite later ABBA songs, and so underrated.
so true!
l never understood that the day before you came didn't become a number one in the uk/ europe anymore. for me its one of the best and timeless abba songs ever.
❤
Incredible reaction, visuals, understanding and spot on with fridas vocals, this song all though not pop shows the silky smooth and strength of fridas range Look up her early stuff you’ll be amazed.. Thanks for sharing this really enjoyed I will follow ❤
Oh yeah, I talked a little bit about Frida’s early days as a jazz vocalist on my the visitors mini doc. But her later vocal seem developed a whole different texture. It seems she was always trying to improve. Thank you. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Cassandra is one of my favourites. Frida's voice was described by Michael B Tretow (engineer) as truly Hi-Fidelity. Benny described it as an instrument. She practiced for a long time to get the robotic sounds for The Visitors (song). You hear remnants of it on Should I Laugh Or Cry (B-side of One Of Us). Learning to use her voice is probably why she evolved more through the ABBA years.
Loving your channel ❤❤❤ ❤
I’m really glad I picked up on that. It really is truly unique. But I don’t really hear many people talking about it. She had/developed truly unique textures to her voice. Thank you!
Very Well Said!
Frida really nails it on Casandra, It's one of her finest performances.
Whether The Day Before You Came is a sad song or happy song is one of the most debated topics in all of AꓭBAdom Lol ✌️
Reallly!?!?!? To me there’s no doubt that this song is tragic now, but I did say initially that the lyrics didn’t sound particularly sad.
I find it sad and boring. It just doesn't have the usual ABBA feel.
A lot of people think the song is describing the day before she meets the love of her life and how drab things were prior to the happy day.
I remember when the DJ just started to play the song for the first time (he didn't mention anything, just started to play the song), and I was like what! she sounds so like Agnetha, I wish this is ABBA.. throughout the song I just kept hoping it was a new song by ABBA and when it ended and DJ announced it was the new single by ABBA, I was like over the moon. To this day I still consider it as ABBA's best song. I still love this song.
Interesting!
Love The day before you came. Cassandra is a waltz and Fridas voice is amazing. ❤❤
I just love Frida’s voice in Cassandra. Initially I liked TDBYC better but Cassandra really grew on me!
Fridas voice in The King has lost his crown is also nice 😉
The Day Before You Came is a very sad song as ABBA was coming to an end by the time they recorded it. And as usual Agnetha Faltskogs vocal are pure magic.
I LOVE your fun, articulate reviews and passion!!! "The DAY Before You Came" is one of my favorite and an absolute ABBA masterpiece. I wish you had shown the video. "Cassandra" is a beautiful song as well and tells another story. (You should look up what it is about.) There actually is a LIVE TV PERFORMANCE of both songs, from German TV in 1982. I highly recommend that you present them on the second part here! Both are excellent performances, that bring ABBA out into the 80's technology and are pretty dramatic - especially TDBYC performance with Agnetha out front of a huge ABBA logo, as the stage turns to reveal the other three on the other side of the logo, with a fog-swept stage floor and Frida relaxing on a grand piano. SPECTACULAR images! Thank you for giving ABBA the respect and attention they deserve. There is no other band like ABBA. They are amazing and legendary, finally getting the respect they deserve!
Thank you I greatly appreciate that. I do put a lot of effort into them and I’m glad to see it shows! There’s a bit of that Cassandra performance in part two. You might not have seen it, but there was a part 2 where I go into the story of both songs
ruclips.net/video/i0rje39diCk/видео.html
I love how you analyze these songs, and your perceptive comments! Agree about Frida's rich vocals in later records especially The Visitors album. She had quite an emotional range in her delivery, velvety, smooth, warm, like a rich red wine with depth and layers of undertones, and the songs she sang lead on during this period brought this out. They knew how to pick them for both Frida and Agnetha's vocal talents.
Thank you so much! Yeah, they really picked great songs for them back then. I’m working on a video about their solo albums. There’s some great songs there too.
Btw there’s an Abba playlist if you haven’t seen ruclips.net/p/PLVaDWMlhe6SFje2D8LnNORUEyB2p0-VZ_&si=SoIiNo8zHKXnNSLm
There is a video for this song which is brilliant. One of my favourites from them.
I've always found The Day Before You Came to be one of the most tragic songs ever written. In my mind the character singing leads a life of desperate loneliness and mind numbing tedium where every day is forever the same. The only way she can cope is by imagining that the next day somebody will walk in to her life and everything will change for her...but they never do ! So the next day it is back to the monotony and hoping again that it will change the day after. She is still stuck in this cycle 40 years later. I know I am probably reading too much into it and projecting my own life into the song. Lol
I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. With the song " El perdón " She is a very versatile singer singing different musical styles with a very particular voice and incredible melismas. She always transmits when she sings. Best regards and I hope you enjoy
I think it’s one of those moments where you didn’t realize you were missing some thing. And that something is love. But then when it’s gone again, then you really notice. I’m definitely on the side that this song is tragic even though at first the lyrics don’t sound particularly sad
Everything that ABBA has done was always beautiful. They were very talented artists
They still are ….
Wonderful reviewing going on here. Gives me a warm glow. Magic stuff.
Loving your work! There’s so much effort that’s gone in to your analysis, and I especially enjoy your inclusion of animation and various visual representations of sonic motifs. Brava!
Thank you I was trying to show visually what I’m feeling when I hear it!
@@popcornphilosopher That certainly comes across! Your efforts are appreciated.
well said
Check out their box that they have out it’s called thank you for the music. There was all kinds of songs on there that were never released for the public to hear before.
Love ABBA. Please do ABBA Arival Album too.
That’s definitely on the list!
I can recommend listening to Benny's piano version of this (which he released some years ago). Hauntingly beautiful.
There’s a little bit of it in part 2 if you didn’t already see it. So beautiful!
I know if this song is used in a Netflix series someday it will be number one for weeks worldwide.
I don’t know what was wrong with the audience 1982 , for me this song is a masterpiece.
That’s probably true!
I really recommend this collaboration with Josefin , spectacular ruclips.net/video/EM1s9GO8--s/видео.htmlsi=2V0A9oWYYTnQEeJo

I think Frida took delight in varying her voice - sometimes with near comic effect. Her operatic style - and sense of fun - can be seen in the "jam session" part of the Olivia Newton John TV show. Frida always seemed to me to be the one who REALLY enjoyed performing on stage - or anywhere with an audience!
Yes, frida seems like a delightful person. And I just love the texture of her voice and how flexible and versatile it is. I had no idea Olivia Newton-John had a TV show!
@@popcornphilosopherThe ONJ special is on RUclips (+ jam session). She had ABBA and Andy GIBB (youngest brother to Bee-Gees) as guests. All sang some of their own songs and ALL JOINED IN! A must see!
Cassandra was brilliantly performed along with the Day Before You Came on German TV and sadly it became their last TV appearance.
Worth checking it out.
I think I put a little bit of that performance in part two to this video
I also love that German TV performance. The sound is incredible.
As I remember well the very last single they released? It,s the first one by ABBA I bought anyway 😉. I still have it. Beautiful song. I always seen it as how life was "the day before you came"and after it.s the same, that.s why it,s so sad. That,s how I always seen it.
There was one more song that they released before their decades. Long hiatus. But I haven’t heard it yet. It’ll be the next song I react to from them!
@@popcornphilosopher There are still two bonus tracks at The Visitors. 'Should I Laugh Or Cry' and 'Under Attack'. Hope you will do both.
@@Lisa-M yes they’re coming up!
Excellent and informative reaction with fun visuals.
You always have a shimmering quality to your videos.
And you’re so right about Frida’s incredible talent as a chanteuse !
Thank you that is so kind! Did you see the part two to this video? It has even more info in that video. This release sent me down at rabbit hole.!
After all these years have passed,TDBYC is one of ABBA's masterpieces. Musically /production it was way ahead of its time.Agnetha always had the gift of interpreting vocals and putting such beautiful emotions into her singing. She used her voice like an actress uses her acting skills..
Love your reactions, thankyou
Thank you I greatly appreciate that!
TDBYC - my personal favourite track! And I went to my work by train on the exact platform we see Agnetha at (Tumba outside Stockholm). Agnetha sings a bit differently in this song, as she was instructed to sound more like talkning than singing.
This was one of the last recorded ABBA songs in 1982. Two were not released; I am the city and Just like that (though the first was released in 1993, the second only a snippet in 1994 - but can officially be found complete here on YT, best restoration by a guy named Philipe Dupont)
It was also a part of their last TV performance, as was Cassandra and Under Attack (with full backing track, Ubder Attack had a different "cold" ending - the others fade out
Cassandra is beautifully sung by Anni-Frid, and it do remind me a bit of the earlier unreleased Put on your white sombrero wich was replaced by Super Trouper in 1980. And, the guitarr reminds me of the guitar in Eagle
Regarding Cassandra, an interesting note is that it was the Accordion that got Benny into music.
Thx
I think you commented on part two.
You must’ve read that comment first. A lot of my opinion about what you’re saying here are in that video. The fragility of Agnetha’s voice. Frda’s voice for that mattter although may be slightly less fragile know that about Benny and his accordion though! I do look forward to the other tracks that come after this!
The Day Before You Came - Perhaps (in my view at least) ABBA's overlooked masterpiece. (It didn't chart well - apart from the low countries.) But brilliant stuff!
I think it’s starting to become. More respected now and really well deserved!
'Cassandra' relates to the story of the daughter of King Priam of Troy in Greek Mythology. She was gifted with the power of prophecy by the god, Apollo but she had later angered him so he also cursed her that nobody would believe her forewarnings. She warned the Trojans of the Greeks invasion but they ignored her and the city of Troy was devastated
, I went into the mythology in part two I don’t know if you saw it. ruclips.net/video/i0rje39diCk/видео.htmlsi=zZXi0HwFIun_hPOj
But the story actually made me really mad. I didn’t know Apollo was such a jerk lol.
Probs my favourite ABBA song
It’s definitely up there for me… But I have a lot I haven’t heard yet too!
Most songs of ABBA is sunny or Summernightcity,
here is Song almost like a Soundtrack for the dark part Oktober-Januari when it’s short days and long dark Melancoly days.
That’s true! It’s kind of perfect for the season coming!
This song reminds me of an Alan Bennett play called a woman of no importance about an
office worker dying of cancer but she's kind of cheerful which makes it even sadder
Oh I love theater. I’d like to see it it sounds up my alley!
I am convinced that the sound coming from the roof, at the end, is the swedish take of Twin Peaks Bob .
Oh, that’s an interesting theory! I love it!
my second comment
for The B-side
"Cassandra" is a B-side
to one of ABBA's two latest singles,
with "The day before You came" on the A-side.
In my personal opinion I like "Cassandra" better,
it's beautiful, with a great Frida on lead vocals and a powerful chorus with Agnetha
ABBA had great lyrics, some more sad or melancholic,
but this is inspired by a prophetess from ancient mythology in Greece
guitarist Björn has written lyrics with other historical themes,
already with "Fernando" in 1976 (thinking about the Mexican revolution)
as with "The Piper" in 1980 (based on The Pied Piper of Hamelin)
It would be great see you in the sequence with the last one next time:
"Under attack / You own me one"
(ABBA's last official single, until their 2021 comeback)
Thanks again for the new reaction
I wish you a great weekend
My best regards from
Buenos Aires es Argentina 🇦🇷
South America
P.S.:
There Is a video from a 1982 German TV Special
with three songs:
"The day before you arrived",
"Cassandra"
"Under Attack"
It was one of ABBA's last television performances, on November 11, 1982,
coincidentally the day of my 25th birthday.
(More than 40 years passed, today I am 65)
Here is the comment we talked about your birthday! Oh, so it’s coming up! Well, happy early birthday haha. I had no idea that Fernando was based on a historical event. But then again, so is Waterloo I guess. Honestly, the Cassandra myth made me really mad. I didn’t know Apollo was such a jerk.
I don’t think I’ve heard even heard of the piper. Is that on super trouper? and looking forward to a Under Attack. I already know I like you owe me one. I heard a small section of it when I was doing some research. and I thought it sounded really good. Really catchy. I’m surprises it wasn’t a single.
@@popcornphilosopher
I really like your return
"Waterloo" is a romantic allegory of a woman's surrender to love in relation to Napoleon's surrender in that historic battle.
(ABBA's manager chose it to have more impact at Eurovision with a simple and well-known title in Europe)
"Fernando" is a fictional story, inspired by alleged Mexican comrades-in-arms
"The Piper" is on "Super Trouper", I love it
and also "You owe me one", which the fans here don't like so much
Great tune, beautifully produced, and pure melancholy mood. This from people for whom English is not their 1st language - amazing!
Yes, I never thought about that but you’re right English being their second language. I have a Voulez-Vous video coming out this week btw editing it right now!
TDBYC.That was mature sophisticated Abba and possibly the most praised song ever by the sceptic critics.
It’s interesting what critics decide is worthy or not!
It's also one of my least favorite ABBA songs. It just labors. Maybe I'm just weird? Of these two, I prefer Casandra.
Super interesting as always! had no idea it had anything to with her trying to master the violin and hating it clearly. Really looking forward to Infant kiss although i think that including Night Scented Stock and Army Dreamers in a trilogy is a great idea, just a suggestion. Whatever way I’m looking forward to it 🤩👌
Yes, it was kinda deceiving. It took some digging. But it makes me have a new appreciation for it! But I’m so glad you liked it!
Maybe she also took it up because of her brother Paddy. He’s quite often the unsung hero on many of Kates albums and might be worth a deep dive sometime 😎👍
I must have lit my seventh cigarette at half past two...
And at the time I never even noticed I was blue...
I must have kept on dragging through the business of the day...
Those three lines are so poignant and powerful.

Ajhhhhh… you never know, though Cassandra really grew on me
Libertango ( I’ve seen that face before ) by Grace Jones… it’s giving me the same vibes, that’s what it reminds me of ( apologies if you say this in the video I’m not through it yet, just had to type that before I forgot )

Do you know the story of Cassandra from Greek mythology? I find it amazing that ABBA incorporated it into a superb song 🥰

Ahh, so glad you reviewed TDBYC! The more I hear the song, the more I'm sure something awful happened to the character singing the song after meeting whoever this person was. He changed her life, that's for sure, but I don't think in a good way. I've read that Agnetha (in later comments about this song) hints that something dreadful happened. This is an epic song. Agnetha's vocal mastery is understated but beautiful and Frida's operatic backing (I think she thought that up for this song) only adds to its lovely sadness. SImply, there is no ABBA without these women. I believe Agnetha was asked to sing this song in a mundane way by one of the B's (maybe Benny??) but even taking that into account, her ability to get to the core of the song instinctively, along with Frida's haunting backing captures the mood of it entirely. A most unABBAlike ABBA song, but so recognisably them, and so gloriously haunting and beautiful. Much love for your reviews from Australia. 👍
Yes, I later heard that people thought that she was murdered even. But then a lot of people would rather think that this was a romantic tale. Actually, some people were kind of mad at me that I thought something bad happened.!
I recommend a Spanish singer, her name is Diana Navarro. With the song " El perdón " She is a very versatile singer singing different musical styles with a very particular voice and incredible melismas. She always transmits when she sings. Best regards and I hope you enjoy
I have never heard of her. I have to check her out. I like lovely textures!
Another ABBA single where the B-side Cassandra should have been the A side.
Cassandra is a really good song!
'Glassy arpeggios' love it!!
I think I said that Lol sounds like me. Haha
You printed it on the screen at 2.21! I'm wondering now did you mean classy? Glassy sounds better because they are slightly arctic and transparent sounding. I'm sure that's what you meant lol @@popcornphilosopher
TDBYC is about suicide. The story is of someone who suffers from depression. The "you" that Agnetha sings about is death itself. The day before death came. Frida's voice is mourning the loss. Opinion of course but it does sound like someone describing a rather meaningless life who decides to end things.
Some people say it’s about a. murder too. I love that the song is so mysterious and has a lot of layers… also, isn’t it most peoples life like this? It’s just we never hear about the mundane things in music. Usually it’s just a highlights of life
TDBYC was Abba's famous 'song without a chorus".Risky and arty.Guys wanted Agnetha to sound as flat as her previous boring life according to the storyline, smth that recently read that they had kinda regret it for not leting her sing it differently.Btw i love Glen's 'Dirty Laundry"
ps.Björn later said that If they at least had let Agnetha sing it more beautifully maybe people would have found it easier to take the song to their hearts. But they had started getting out of touch with the pop music mainstream … they were "heading into something more mature, more mysterious and more exciting", and at that time it was "one step too far for Abba's audience".
PS 2.Neverthless 2 decades later on British ITV1 made a poll ,("The Nation's Favourite ABBA song".) TDBYC was voted 3rd best Abba song ever!
Yeah, I noticed she wasn’t perfectly in key. Which would never happen today at least on the song that would go on the radio. I think she actually sounds very fragile. I think they just were inspired by deeper things. That’s what happens as you get older. And ironically less people want to listen to it.
TDBYC reminds me of one classic song from ‘60, cannot remember the name, but the instrumental part that is sung by Frida is very similar to that song.
Are you reminding me of me in this video when I couldn’t remember the song I was thinking. Hopefully it comes to you….like it did for me. Eventually lol
You know 80s British duo Blancmange? (Living on the Ceiling)? Check out their cover of The Day Before You Came.
Oh yes, I heard about that. I haven’t heard it yet though. I’ll definitely check it out!
I've read loads of people's interpretations of what "The Day Before You Came" is all about 🤔 But I think sometimes they add arms and legs, looking for things that aren't actually there. Can I do any better? 😆 Hmmm 🤔
Purely on lyrics alone...
Looking back over daily routine with vague awareness, and with "...must have..." being repeated at times, the narrator seems to have woken up from the haze to realise she has lead an aimless life. And the reason for it is... A life changing encounter.
Without wanting to project any ideals onto it, there's no telling who the "...you..." is. It is totally open ended.
Purely, the song describes a wake-up call. And wake-up calls usually go hand in hand with new beginnings.
The syntesizer is a MOOG
it reminds me a little bit of the music in Dr Zivago
Oh, I can totally see that! Good catch!
I always found that "Cassandra" should have been the A-Side. That's not to say I don't like "The day before you came", it's a great song, but "Cassandra" touches me even more, in some special way. The historic topic is also outstanding. Great idea, great lyrics. I couldn't disagree more with her opinion that it would have been the weakest track on "The Visitors".
This single is a masterpiece because Aside and Bside are both masterpieces.
The Day Before You Came wasn't a hit, it was too long, dark or introspective to be played on the radio and be a single. That was a pity. Agnetha and Frida in the operatic part were great, the production is amazing.
I've enjoyed your video very much, thank you. 😊
I think because it was probably more of a grower. Both songs grew on me the more I heard them. And on closer examination multi layered! Thank you. I’m so glad you liked the video!
It was a hit in the Netherlands .Highest place was nr 3
I bet it's Under Attack which is the B side of The Day Before You Came.
There is a strong sence of loneliness and sadness in The Day Before You Came. My guess is that it wasn't a happy meeting. Why should it be this sad then. There are many theories about the meaning of the lyrics (Wikipedia!!). There is also a strange long time gap in her day. What happened then. This was ABBA's final recording until Voyage. They had recorded several songs they were not happy with (like Just Like That which they never released). Agnetha sang the song in the studio, the lights were dimmed. They all felt sad cuz they sort of knew this was the end of ABBA. Ofc it must have been painful and strange to go through the divorces and still work together. But it resulted in the beautiful The Visitors album. One of their very best albums. When it comes to Cassandra I have never been a fan of it. Cannot compete with Chiquitita or Fernando
Yeah, I added my own theories in part two. I don’t know if you saw it. I’d like is open to interpretation and can be seen many different ways. Cassandra actually grew on me. I might even like it as much as TDBYC. but now it’s hard for me not to see the two songs as linked.
The day before you came is usually the favourite ABBA song of people who don’t like ABBA. Because it’s so un-ABBA like. When it comes to Cassandra, Frida once referred to the song as ‘mediocre’. 😱
No she didn't.
@@m.menneke8513 actually she did. During the 1993 interview with Carl Magnus Palm for the original The Complete Recording Sessions book. However the quote was never made public until the revised edition came out in 2017. Just because you haven’t heard it, don’t be too quick to dismiss it if you have no evidence.
@@discogareth Menneke never has evidence for his unqualified statements. Though I wonder why he contradicts you. Usually he cannot be fast enough to make Frida and her lead songs bad.
I still like Cassandra! It actually really grew on Me. Interestingly I did a whole video on Karen Carpenter not liking the song Solitaire despite many thinking it’s her best song
Is there a happy ending or an unhappy ending .i guess we will never know
Oh yeah and I made two further videos exploring that question haha. But mystery suits the song.
The official video makes it very clear what's happening (though the visual narrative is confined to just a few set-pieces - rather than seeing her at the office and at home etc.)
I talk little bit about the video in part two. If you didn’t see it. I think it’s my favorite abba video.
@@popcornphilosopherCool! I'll find it and watch it. Hope you've had a nice weekend. :-)

It's was Agnetha's idea to sing this song like Charles Aznavour would do it. Half speaking, half singing. Acting the song. The frida fans always draw the attention to the backing vocals trying to make them just as important as the lead. Ofcourse it isn't. Top 3 abba songs by the britisch people. 1. The winner takes it all. 2. Dancing Queen. 3. The day before you came.
The backing vocals ARE as important as the lead, but of course a Frida hater doesn't understand that.
Oh no you guys be nice! Lol. Frida and Agnetha are both incredibly talented and have their own strengths. Honestly I also realized later how important Agnetha vocals are to Cassandra. As well as Frida’s sort of Operatic vocals which add atmosphere to TDBYC
Frida Forever! 😁❤❤❤
@@popcornphilosopher You don't know him. He is someone who doesn't get tired to tell us that Frida was and is unnecessary in ABBA and Agnetha is the one and only lead singer of the group. So no, I can't be nice to such a nasty troll.
What an unnecessary Agnetha v Frida comment. All parts are like a jigsaw and without one piece it isn't complete.
Frida created the ghostly, operatic part too. They were a group, they all had an input. So sad you choose to be divisive.
So sad you chose to bring such a negative comment.
I don’t see many comments about Cassandra but it’s also one of my favorites. The boys always seemed to match the right voice to the right song. I can’t imagine Frida singing The Winner takes it All or Agnetha singing When all is said and done. Ya feel me?
Btdubs, for me, Frida has the most beautiful voice I’ve ever heard
And another thing; they could have replaced 2 for the price of one with Cassandra
Cassandra REALLY grew on me. It’s such a different kind of song but there is definitely a theme .. I love Frida’s voice
My favourite Frida vocal is I Wonder from “The Album”
