Hey, correct there is no HDD cable included. The cable is also not for sale officially by Huawei. There are offers for last years D15, but we didn't have the chance to test those yet if they also work on the 2020 D15.

Hey, both are mostly the same basically. The only differences are the backlit keyboard on the D14 and the free space for a 2.5" HDD on the D15. Although, there is no cable to connect a 2.5"HDD/SSD.

Hey, well if the D14 with 512GB hasn't enough space, you can swap the SSD for a bigger one - current M.2 SSDs go as high as 4TB :) If the price isn't a big concern, I'd go for the D14, since it's more compact.
Hey, you can, but the necessary adapter cable for the D15 is not officially available. There is one for the 2019 Model, but we're not sure if it fits. In case you have a Huawei Service Center near you, they'll upgrade the HDD for you.

Hey, der Akku kann getauscht werden, ja. Er ist nur verschraubt und nicht geklebt. Die WLP kannst du tauschen, damit erlischt aber die Garantie. Bei einem noch neuen Gerät macht der Tausch in der Regel aber auch kaum etwas aus, wenn du nicht direkt auf Flüssigmetall wechselst. Bei Notebooks sollte das aber mit extremer Vorsicht gemacht werden, da die SoC in der Regel keinen Heatspreader haben, der DIE liegt also offen und Kurzschlüsse sind schnell möglich.

Hey, you can of course remove the heatsink and fan, but doing so will void any warranty. It's only tied down with some screws.

Ich hab die Wärmeleitpaste nun dennoch ausgetauscht, weil die Produktion da auch Mist gebaut hatte, da die hälfte des Chips anscheinend nicht einmal bedeckt war. Ich würde Nie und nimmer auf die Stockpasten, wo die Hersteller gut sparen können, sowie das Auftragen unter Druck an einem Fließband in China vertrauen.
Die Paste war so LaLa und wie gesagt nur die hälfte bedeckt, bei einem gerade ein mal vor 4 monaten hergestelltem Modell. Unglaublich. Wirkte auch auf mich wie eine silikonpaste.
Ich habe MX 4 von Arctic aufgetragen, funktioniert durch seine Mikrokohlenstoff partikel in seinen Liegenschaften besser als Flüssgmetall, welches man auch alle 2-3 jahre optimal wechseln muss, sondern hält 6-8 jahre und ist auch durch fehlende Metalle nicht stromleitend, sondern nur wärmeleitend.
Ist selbst besser bewertet als Kongs bekanntes schwarzes Liquid-Metal© das die für 15 pro tube verscherbeln
Schade um die Garantie, aber naja ich bezweifle aber auch, dass es so einen grossen hersteller überhaupt interessieren würde und man nicht direkt ohne grossen aufwand ein neues Produkt erhält. Kenne ich zumindest so als jemand der Handies und ausgewählte Ultrabooks u. Tablets per Verträgen vertreibt.
So oder so; auf jeden fall den kunden der matebooks empfehlen auf eigene Gefahr die Paste zu tauschen und am besten die MX 4. auch nicht die Arctic Silver 5 oder sonst was sondern explizit die MX 4.
Das auseinanderschrauben war überraschend simpel. Lediglich die Coverschrauben ab, waren glaube ich 8 stk. Abclippen, nur das Leitkupfer abschrauben, waren auch nur paar schrauben und schon hatte man den Prozessor vor sich. Als jemand der das bisher immer andere hat machen lassen und es das erste mal selbst machte, war das extrem einfach.
Der Unterschied in der Temperatur bei hoher Leistung liegt bei fast15 grad, also enorm. Selbst bei Games die eigl mehr Leistung benötigen ist man lüfter spürbar leiser

Does someone else have a problem with the fan? I have the Matebook D14 2020, the fan turn on really often and it does a high pitched sound that is really annoying. I want to know if it is normal or my unit has a defect.
its not normal to be loud. not on the D15 at least. I rarely hear my fan on the D15. make sure its not dirty.

Hey, basically any 2.5" HDD and SSD with a maximum hight of 9mm will do. If you don't want to risk your warranty go to a Huawei Service Center to get your HDD installed.
