Hello and welcome or welcome back! Hope you are having a fantastic week :) I have to tell you a funny story about this Shabbat... We forgot to turn off the light in our fridge (we can't remove the light bulb in this fridge) so we could not open the refrigerator all Shabbat! Luckily the main food and an extra milk jug was in another fridge, but we were not able to get to our salads. I borrowed some mayo from a neighbor and raided my pantry to make some olive dip and corn salad so at least we had something lol It was a fun adventure :)
I once saw you could put tape over the switch so the switch thinks the door is always shut. Think I'd have to have a check list to remember all the different switches and things needed doing.

Hi Chana 🤗 I love your Shabbat outfit! Thank you for taking us along. I love renaissance fest outfits and Scottish tartan as well! I’m part Scottish from the McGeorge clan 💜💜 So cool! I’m looking forward to you taking us along on your sewing journey making that beautiful dress. Love to you and the family💜
I've got four million cookbooks and my go-to is my Better Homes and Gardens with the plaid cover! Try the pumpkin bread, it's as lovely as the banana bread recipe.
I love costumes from that time period as well - especially from Scotland. I also love how they look, much more than most modern dresses - the lines are so classic and flattering. Thanks for another great video!
Hi Chana! I hope you are doing well. Enjoyed spending this time with you my friend! Love how you are spending (or spent 😉) this Shabbos reconnecting as a family. Sometimes it's very much needed. You are definitely not the only one to do this Mom move lol. I always thought it was a waste to throw away my girls' leftovers so I would always eat them. Took me awhile to learn to serve them less so there were less leftovers. They were always welcome to seconds or thirds of course. Funny story - I was cleaning up after their lunch one day and there was a schmear of something on one of the plates that looked like butter. Of course, because I made their lunch so you'd think I would know what it was but, if I remember correctly, it was one of those no-sleep nights so I was lucky to just be standing upright . Anyway, when I tasted it off my finger, it wasn't butter. It was peanut butter. Yuch! I hate peanut butter. I'm probably the only vegetarian that doesn't eat it. But, that helped me to stop eating their leftovers! Never knew what I was getting lol 😆! Oy, the light in the fridge. I always had the opposite problem ... remembering to turn it back on after Shabbos. Eventually, our fridge was dark all the time 🤷♀️ Take care and see you Thursday!
Its so funny, our old fridge was dark all the time and I got so used to that that I don't even think about it but now with the new fridge, every time I open it I am like "oh light, that's convenient" LOL
Thank you for your videos and sharing your life and religion with us. While I am not Jewish, your videos educate me and bring a little peace to my day. Thank you so much and for inviting us into your home!
Banana bread and the recipe for the morning glory muffins please!😊 You really need to do a cook book and have as your merch for your channel it would be wonderful!!!!
The morning Glory Muffin recipe is in this video: ruclips.net/video/IP_bfUxEcb4/видео.html and the banana bread is in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook :)
This was such a enjoyable video. By the time it was over I was starved, the chicken looked absolutely delicious, the soup sounded so good for a nice cool fall nite. We sent our dog to be trained and it was the best thing we could have done, it makes such a difference. Love your content and learning so much 🤗
When one of my sons was younger, he invited a friend to have a bowl of my homemade chicken soup, assuring his friend that it tasted better than the "real stuff in the can!"
I often try to cook ahead. I had made my family food to eat then made eggplant Parmigiana to freeze..... I let it stand to cool down. Went back to check on it... My autistic son had eaten it. RIP my eggplant Parmigiana! Glad to hear the Bella update! I miss your dishwasher buddy! Blessings upon you all!
Well at least you know it was good eggplant! Bella is comfortable and sleeping next to me right now while I work :) She is happy and excited to learn more!
Thank you for the great video! So glad to hear about Bella! I was thinking that Walker’s shortbread cookies are good to give for Purim. They’re individually wrapped, and really nice and buttery. I hope you enjoyed your Shabbat of comfort food. Looks delicious!
Love the historic pattern. What a great idea ordering your tartan early. I’ve thought about ordering a bit of family tartan yardage myself. Thanks for the reminder about the frig. light, I have a new refrigerator will have to check out how I will turn off the light. 💞
You should totally order a bit of tartan! Or something with it on it :) I have ordered notebooks with the tartan printed on it and little things like that in that past. Its just a nice reminder of family and family history :)
I get away with using drums and thighs for the soup when we happen to find those on sale, but you’re right about a whole chicken being the way to go. Don’t think I’ve ever used rosemary for the chicken soup, but parsley and dill are favorites. The morning routine looked very peaceful and pleasant. My daughter was peering over my shoulder and said out of the blue, “why are Hebrew letters so much bigger than regular?” The questions that can’t be answered, lol. Regular?
Oh the letters... I assume that just the way the font looks compared to times new roman English, because Hebrew always looks a little bolder to me. Also, I never thought of using dill in the soup! Might have to try that sometime :)
Hi, I just want you to know how much I enjoy your pg. & family. I am a practicing Roman Catholic, but had a step- great grandmother who was Jewish. I also went to a city (Philadelphia) public HS that was about 85% Jewish. I was the fish out of water. LOL I had gone to Catholic grammar school then public HS. This is back in the late 70's, when Philly public was awesome. I learned a lot about your faith. But not so much about the Orthodox part. It is interesting. I remember lighting the menoarah (sp) as a child, when my Mom Mom was still alive. Thank you for sharing your life with us. Other faiths always interested me. Especially the Jewish faith. So close yet so far from Christianity. Built off the same corner stone. I do have a question about your homeschooling. I am a former Catholic School teacher. You don't send in grades to the school district you live in? Do you have to do testing? Just curious. Stay well. Thanks again.
Hello Marita! So happy to have you here! Thanks for the lovely introduction. To answer your question, no I do not need to send grades in to the district or anything like that. We have complete freedom in Texas to educate our children how we choose :)
One thing I love about you videos...they are real. You admit when you make mistakes...you always find creative ways to make up for them...you have a great attitude about it. Its nice to see that other moms mess up too...(not only me!!) I have forgotten to take out chicken to thaw many times myself!!😂 God bless you...I just love your channel❤
I ao look forward to your videos. Today’s was so good. I am that Grammie that eats the leftovers off my grandbabies plates from time to time😀. Your chicken and fish liked amazing. And that banana bread-I could almost taste it. I love your Purim costume idea. I know it will be fabulous when finished. You are in my prayers daily. I look forward to Thursday’s video. Blessings, Shawn
Thank you so much for your kind words Shawn! The banana bread was a big hit, the kids gobbled up a loaf before I could even film it and the second loaf (that made it on camera lol) we ate during Shabbat :)
Always happy on the days you post a video, Chana! 🤗 We used to always have homemade chicken soup on Mondays when I was growing up..yummy. Such a comfort food. Banana bread, too. I love all things Scottish and would love to visit Scotland. I thought of Harry Potter when you mentioned family costumes; your idea looks wonderful. Purim makes me think of hammentashen (hope I spelled it right)..I love them! Thank you for sharing; I absolutely adore your channel. Rosemarie 💖
Greetings from Scotland Chana!!👍❤️🏴 Lovely to hear you have Scottish roots. Wondering what clan your tartan is and where your roots are? Sorry, I can't be helpful about your costume as it was a wee bit before my time but it sounds absolutely brilliant to me and what an original idea! I really hope you & your family come and visit one day & share the experience with us. I'm really enjoying your videos as I'm super-interested in the Jewish roots of my Christian faith (had I not been a Christian, I'd have had to convert!😇) Just fascinated by all things Jewish - Oy vey and Och aye!🤣 Have a blessed week my Celtic sister!👍🙏
I can’t wait to see your costume for Purim. The pattern looks awesome. I look forward to Monday and Thursday for your videos. My son and his new wife were married at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Festival a week ago. They ordered their wedding attire on Etsy from a lady in England. She did an awesome job. Hope the rest of your week is wonderful!
That is so cool!!! I have friends who got married at a ren fair (before I met them so I did not attend) but the pictures look so cool! I am sure everyone had a fantastic experience :)
Funny you talked about Scotland. I have recently found the most beautiful Scottish music by Julie Fowlis and have also find myself interested in my Scottish and Irish roots. Thanks for your honesty on your day to day life. I hope to convert to Orthodox Judaism once I finish college, and it helps me to know that I can convert and still find interest in say my ancestry or fantasy novels, you mentioned Harry Potter and I love Lord of the Rings. For some reason I was under the opinion I would have to leave that all behind. Thank you for your videos!
Oh I will check out that musical artist! I think it is so cool to explore our roots :) Very exciting about your conversion! Please keep me posted as you get started! You definitely don't have to leave it all behind. That isn't to say that you wouldn't meet someone who does not approve, but most don't seem to have an issue (that I know of).
I noticed that the one picture that used to hang in your kitchen (I think it is made up of Hebrew letters) is now in your craft room, it's so lovely. BTW, I love my Scots ancestry too. A trip to Scotland is at the top of my bucket list. 🏴❤️
Hi, Chana! I just wanted to say that since watching you, I’ve started my morning out with drinking hot tea, doing a little journaling and just enjoying the cooler weather in the morning. Just a quick question. Since you can’t use your oven on Shabbat, how do you warm up the chicken for the next day? I’m aware you guys have hot plates, but wasn’t sure if that was the method you used. Your chicken soup looked so yummy by the way and I just adore your sweet personality and big smile. I hope you have a great week ahead!
I am so happy you are getting a quiet and beautiful start to your day! How wonderful! For the chicken, we warm it up on a hot plate which stays on on Shabbat or is on a time so we aren't touching it. Thank you for you kind words!
I was fried after the holidays. I have started making a post yontif meal for the freezer when I cook my holiday stuff. For me it’s just one more aluminum pan (with parchment paper) to fill. But it means I don’t have as much prep when I’m already tired. Can’t wait to see the etrog jelly! I’m waiting for a replacement burner so I can get some canning done!

I love the “cooking show” feel of today’s vlog and learning about your preparation for Shabbat and Purim.
Your costume sounds amazing!
I am so pleased that Bella is doing so well with her training!
Might you be filming an update video at some stage so we may see her progress?
Have a lovely week!
Thank you so much!
Your chicken looked amazing and your husband's fish looked good too! Mmm.
Thanks so much:)
A great video! Thanks for inviting us into your life.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much! I’m excited to share the costume and it’s process with you!
You make my heart happy!
Well that makes my heart happy!
I've got four million cookbooks and my go-to is my Better Homes and Gardens with the plaid cover! Try the pumpkin bread, it's as lovely as the banana bread recipe.
Oh I will try the pumpkin bread! It is also my go to cook book. I got rid of almost all my other cookbooks because I didn't see that point anymore!
I love costumes from that time period as well - especially from Scotland. I also love how they look, much more than most modern dresses - the lines are so classic and flattering. Thanks for another great video!
You’re so welcome Rose!
Eventually, our fridge was dark all the time 🤷♀️
Take care and see you Thursday!
Its so funny, our old fridge was dark all the time and I got so used to that that I don't even think about it but now with the new fridge, every time I open it I am like "oh light, that's convenient" LOL
Short bread is a perfect gift idea for your gifts for pruem also you have done little house on the prairie for purme recently
Yes! Forgot that one too lol And shortbread is perfect if I can make it gluten free
Glad you got the opportunity for a quieter time....🙏❤
It was so nice
Thank you for your videos and sharing your life and religion with us. While I am not Jewish, your videos educate me and bring a little peace to my day. Thank you so much and for inviting us into your home!
Thank you so very much for being here!
Banana bread and the recipe for the morning glory muffins please!😊
You really need to do a cook book and have as your merch for your channel it would be wonderful!!!!
The morning Glory Muffin recipe is in this video: ruclips.net/video/IP_bfUxEcb4/видео.html and the banana bread is in the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook :)
I have the older 1980's copy of the Better Homes and Garden cookbook. It's my favorite go to cookbook!
That’s the version I grew up using! My mom still has it :)
This was such a enjoyable video. By the time it was over I was starved, the chicken looked absolutely delicious, the soup sounded so good for a nice cool fall nite. We sent our dog to be trained and it was the best thing we could have done, it makes such a difference. Love your content and learning so much 🤗
Thank you so much Anne!!!
When one of my sons was younger, he invited a friend to have a bowl of my homemade chicken soup, assuring his friend that it tasted better than the "real stuff in the can!"
Lol that’s awesome!
This Video is so warm & nice. im just at 8:45min . Thank You Chana
You’re welcome 😊
Love seeing you smiling Chana. Wonderful video as usual 🥰
😊 thank you
The chicken and fish both look so delicious. Your kids are so blessed to have two great cooks for parents!
Aw thank you 😊
Was happy to see you video today ! 🥰👏🏼
Yay! I’m so happy you’re here! Thank you!
@@jaroffireflies Luci sends her love.
Ciao Chana, I have been t hinking of you. A big hug from Italy 🤗
Thank you so much Elena!
I ALWAYS keep canned chicken on hand in a pinch. It is great for tacos/burritos, salad, etc.
I love your layered dress. I don't like sleeveless because they dip so low under my arms but now I have a way to wear them!
Awesome! You can also get crop top shells (that layering shirt) so it’s even more comfortable! I buy mine from Kosher Casual
Hi another lovely video. I really look forward to seeing the next one. Can't wait to see Bella again. Hoping you all have a lovely week x
Thank you Fran!!! I’m sure Bella will be in another video soon 💖
it’s good to see you back to your regular self. ❤️
Thanks :)
We appreciate you too! Love those outtakes! Shabbat Shalom.
Thank you 😊
Hi, I just want you to know how much I enjoy your pg.
The opening music comes on and my brain and body get totally relaxed. My heart is happy knowing I have a new Fireflies video to watch.😊❤️
I love that 💜 thank you!
The sweet peacefulness of your mornings are so lovely ❤️
Thank you :) I really cherish that time
@@jaroffireflies ❤️
Always looking forward to your videos Chana. The food looks fabulous, you look fabulous in that dress and earrings too! Have a wonderful week!
Thank you so much Connie! :)
Lovely to see you looking joyful ....xxx
Thanks Sallyann :)
Thank you for that! I definitely mess up! I filmed today for Thursday and made two pretty big oopses :) You'll see Thursday lol
It never lasts here either. Sometimes it doesn’t even gets cooled down. It barely makes it out of the pan-warm banana bread is so good!
Rosemarie 💖
Thank you for your kind words Rosemarie! I hope to visit Scotland too one day…
Greetings from Scotland Chana!!👍❤️🏴 Lovely to hear you have Scottish roots.
What a beautiful gown at the end! You look like a queen!
Thank you so much!!! That’s one of my favorite dresses to wear on Saturday but I occasionally wear it on a Friday night :)
Can’t wait to see your costume, hello from Scotland 🏴
Hello Joanna! I can't wait to share it with you!
I just wanted to say thank you for all your wonderful content! I hope you have a wonderful week and hope everyone is well.
You are so very welcome!
Scottish-themed mishloach manot definitely has to include shortbread and tablet!
That’s the plan! So excited! I love all the great suggestions I got here!
I love watching your videos. Thank you for posting.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Chana! I love your viedos, thank you for doing them. I am praying for you and I will be for a while❤
Thank you so much Sarah
P.S. Chana, your husband is also a real gem in the kitchen. Your chicken and his fish both look delicious. Rosemarie 💖
Thank you!!! It was a very tasty Shabbat and nice to have the change up in the food :)
Thank you! My kids made that one :)
I look forward to your videos every week! Loved your dress for Shabbat.
Thank you so much Lisa!
I love that you share your life with us. I feel that we have become friends 🌞
Thank you Barbara:)
That is so smart! What a great idea!!!
@@jaroffireflies just pull out of the freezer on Thursday. It’s wrapped and ready for the blech!
@@mcomeslast so perfect! You’re a genius!
Chana, thank you so much for your video. I always look forward to them and enjoy them so much. We sometimes put butter and brown sugar on our left over rice. It's so good! I have some Scottish heritage as well. I can't remember what the tartan looks like but I remember which clan we're part of! I hope you had a peaceful and happy Shabbat. 🙂
Thanks Carol! I used to put butter on my rice growing up :) Not sure why I stopped lol
@@jaroffireflies lol everything is better with butter on it!
Hi! Loving the videos. Don't forget that closet tour - so looking forward. Thank you.
I’m like halfway through filming it! I’m trying on each outfit so it’s taking a while lol and then I found my box of winter clothes was need to include them too lol
Love the dress you put on for Shabbat very pretty. Your husband's fish looked so good as did your chicken soup, I think I will make some on the weekend!
Thanks so much :)
Hello! Thanks for yet another great video - it's so fun to watch you go about your day! I love both the outfits you're wearing in this video. The headscarf with the flowers looks great on you & complements the dress so nicely. Great to hear your doggo's training is going so well!
Thank you so much!
I already loved your channel but finding out your into history makes this a million times better!! Love your dress pattern though!!
Lol I’m so glad! Yes, I’m kind of a huge history nerd that has only become exasperated by being a homeschooling mom 😂
As always, and enjoyable and so relaxing video. Your voices calms me on the most stressful of days. Thank you 💕
I also got a giggle over the banana bread lol…. We love banana bread, and it just so happens my son asked me to make some tomorrow.
Thank you so much for your kind words 😊 And enjoy your yummy banana bread!

The fish recipe? I will try to film him next time he makes it :)
@@jaroffireflies Thank you. Blooming predictive text!!! I meant the batter recipe please. How it came up with those words I’ll never know 🙄🤣
Hello, just catching up! Question where did you buy the pot used for the soup?
Hello! I’m sorry we have had that pot for so long, I have absolutely no recollection of where it came from!
I absolutely love your channel .
Thank you Noel!
Hi Chana! Have you ever done a video about your wedding? Storytimes or sharing pictures? Would be interested to hear about it!!
