  • I realized that while I film a lot of my days, I don't film much of my evenings, so here you go: My Evening Routine! This is the evening routine of an Orthodox Jewish homeschool mom of 3. I start my evening with making dinner, then cleaning up the kitchen and putting away laundry, all the while talking through the tasks with you about why I do things that I do each evening. Then my kids start to want to go to bed so I take you along with each kid's bed time routine as they get settled and we read stories and have bedtime conversations. Then I am out to water my garden, again talking you through my tasks before heading inside and taking you through my personal pre-sleep routine. Thank you all so much for watching me as I close out my day and get things done before bed with my family! I hope you enjoy my evening routine!
Hello and welcome! My name is Chana, I’m married to my best friend, and we have three wonderful children together. We also happen to be Orthodox Jews and we homeschool our kids. This video is a sneak peek into our daily lives :) You can see how this particular Jewish homeschool mom sets up her days, rolls with the punches, and gets it all done. Thanks for watching!

I hear you on the meals. I have finally realised that we are never going to get bedtime sorted if I’m trying to cook every night so I’m going crazy with batch cooking and canning to fill the freezer and pantry with ready-to-go meals we can eat most nights during the week.

My Mom worked outside of the home 1950's I seen her work hard all day in a foundry. and come home and cook and clean. So when I had a family and worked out side of the home. I made meals that always had left overs. So I only had to cook every other nite. and So if we had our kids friends over everyone was welcome. Now everyone is gone. BUT I still only cook every other day. and some days I will make enough to freeze for the soon winter months. It's a give and take. I have always spent as much time as I could with my kids. You can never get that time back. Make Memories

Chanah it depends on how old they are and what kind of routine you have set up.I use to have them run up and down the hall!! unless you live upstates apt. have them do some kind of exercise to tire them out. then start the bedtime routine. read the book('s), brush teeth, drink of water, go potty, bath time there blankie you get the idea.any thing and every thing be for you go into the bedroom ( not in the order I wrote) So when you finish the book they know there is NO getting out of bed.I hope this helps. With Covid there inside the house so much more then normal. they have energy built up. make it fun!

I am new to your channel. I don’t know how I got here but I’m glad I did. You need help … gosh. 😀Home school, cooking, cleaning, housework, gardening, and time with your hubby.,when does that happen? It seems you are never tired. We used to work opposite shifts, I’m a nurse, so I took graveyard shift, hubby is engineer so he worked days. I only worked every other weekend fri sat and Sunday. Every other weekend. I could have gone full time but with graveyard plus shift premium it was almost like a full time paycheck. The kids were my main job of course. I’m was not as “ mommyish” as you. Of course my kids were my number one priority but you seem so happy all the time. I had little helpers too that would put things into the dishwasher and not reset it. Finally I got them to just leave things in the sink , so dishwasher would not stink from not finishing. YUCK.
We just had our kitchen remodeled, the electrician told me to run dishwasher full, as it works better. Boy did we remodel…. Evert house we have had we remodeled but this time we did the “ big one” we bought a 5 year old house 12 years ago, used it for a rental, we lived in Pennsylvania ( which I loved) we were transferred back here to California, it’s hot here. I hate folding fitted sheets, there must be a trick…. Speaking of hair, we are Italian, no rules about hair but I do have hair down to my waist. It’s so hot here in the wine country, I usually put it up in a knot on my head or tie it back with a scarf. I miss not having little kids. I think I told you mine are all grown men. 41 and 39, DIL 44. I miss them so much no traveling due to Covid-19. They have had their vaccines and getting boosters soon, hopefully we will all be together for Christmas this year, the last two years were so hard, we were all alone right after we moved to California. Lucky for us we have a pool and made friends with the family across the street, we have been in a “ bubble” with them as we all went together to be tested for covid. We would swim and bbq on weekends, but I just don’t feel like I did in Pennsylvania. Change is suppose to be good… this is our 6 th move in 45 years of marriage and we are right back where we started from .
I wanted to ask you have you ever watched “ Our tribe of many” they are a interracial family of I think 10 kids. She home schools, has kids from newborn to I think just about ready to go to college. They are both ministers, she cooks a lot and I’m not kidding, a lot lot. If you haven’t check them out. Great family. I finally decided some families are big, some are not. We are just the two of us , we have been for a long time. PS I don’t think I made myself clear “ our tribe of many is a you tube channel. All the kids are so well behaved and polite. Check them out in your free time - ha ha I don’t think you get any but if you do….😀 we have kept 4 out of 6 houses for rentals, that’s what keeps me busy , the books, getting people to do clean outs, painting etc 3 of the houses are back east so I work vert closely with a realtor on those homes. One we bought here and we had no intention of it being a rental , it was just too small, even though kids only made it here once when we moved i like everyone to have their own room. My married son and his wife have their room and my single son has his , they had to share a bathroom we had our room but when covid hit we knew we needed bigger since my husband works from home and I wanted married son and DIL to have bedroom with en suite bathroom so they did not all have to share. My other son dies not mind his bedroom and bathroom are a bit smaller. Once again, I get no craft room and they have not even been here in 3 years. Woops I take that back, our oldest drove down from Portland Oregon to help us buy a car. He is in a Tesla club and wanted to put his two cents in lol maybe like about 20.00 worth of information , it was a good thing because he got the price down a bit since he owns one and has 4 or 5 friends he helped buy ( give his opinion) lol on. No grandkids but we have a sports car… that is not the same but fun to drive during covid we just take little rides on hubby’s days off , we don’t drink but it’s fun going to the wineries, Walk around , take pictures, I’m artistic, I just got a DSL camera, so I’ve been having fun taking pictures of grape 🍇 vines , animals and flowers. Lots to learn, not like an I phone but I’ll admit the I phone 10 takes great pictures.

Awww!!! Bedtime is so sweet with littles. I used to sing my 2 to sleep when they were babies..now I have a 20 and 16 year old...my 20 year old (when she's home from college) rests her head on my leg and let's me scratch her head (play with her hair) cherish every single moment....it goes by so very fast

Compressed coconut fiber, it once was considered a waste product from coconuts. It’s on Amazon, it’s kind of strange a block of brown stuff, I put in a tub and soak it with water, stir, add more water. I have been putting it all my flower beds and potted plants this summer and so far so good. Good luck

It is a great joy to watch your videos. I am inspired especially about your conversion story. You are doing super fabulous. The french toast looks so yummy. Can I make one tiny observation about the eggs? I hope you don’t mind me explaining. There is kosher procedure to check yolk for blood spot to make sure there’s none. Because blood in the egg makes it not kosher which we can’t use. One way is putting the egg in a clear glass to check from all sides. Another way is after cracking the shell, you put the yolk from one shell to the other half shell back and forth a few times to make sure you check all sides of the yolk to be free of blood spot. Hope this info helps.

I love breakfast for dinner! We do either French Toast or pancakes and eggs.
When I worked, it was essential for me to set up everything for the next day: putting out something to wear, cleaning my kitchen and, if I needed to bring something with me the next day, it went with my purse, at my front door so I would literally trip over it and not forget it lol or straight into my car so there's no excuse.
If I didn't do all of that, my mornings were chaotic which definitely doesn't set the tone for a good day 🤣🤣.

I'm 44 and breakfast for dinner is one of my favourite things!! I even had it today though it was more very late lunch very early dinner situation (4pm !!). I started making Challah bread this year because I've always been curious about what it tastes like, my son and I love it but we eat it all so there's never left overs for French toast. I make it as a 3 part braid. My son loves baking it too and last time we made it he took a loaf to one of his friend's place. There's 9 people in that family so it definitely did not last long there!
Cooking a big dinner at the end of the day is a huge effort. With everything you do it makes sense to keep the evening meal simple. I love cooking but have health issues that make it difficult to cook often but when I feel up to it I have to cook early in the day while I have the energy and then reheat or cook the last parts (like rice or pasta) around dinner time.
    Love your videos! 🌻🌻🌻🌻

Yes! You make hot lunch and homeschool is a full time job. Precooking is what helps me. I’m disabled and some days I’m exhausted by afternoon. So I always have a few proteins cooked ahead, or canned meat (instant hot soup) and a few meals cooked and in the freezer. Anything from cooking once a week to cooking once a month. I get ideas from videos including Jammerill’s channel. I could be studying or sewing, lol! Crockpot is the other miracle worker. Put a chicken or roast in at lunch, some simple sides and done. I like the “crockpot rotisserie “ method. The chicken is held just above the bottom of the pot so it doesn’t braise. Take some oil or margarine and mix in your fav spices, even soup powder. Smear under the skin and over it. Yum and minimal effort. Is it going to snow? So precious!
