I recently visited family in Cartagena and Medellin!! Cartagena one week, Medellin another. It truly is beautiful and there are so many wonderful places to visit. Flying in was magnificent, seeing all the mountains and clouds…WONDERFUL!
I am from Medellin but raised in Miami all my life. I haven't been there in 18 years and I am going to Medellin in 3 weeks and I do say, your video got me all teary eyed and excited to go back and I can't wait!!! you did a great tour of my city! Thanks!!!
I have watched many travel videos of Colombia in English language and my own language because i am planning to travel but this is the best one. Thank you!
spectacular video of Medellin and commune 13, thank you parcero for showing the great places, gastronomy, incredible people, colors, culture, innovation and transformation, the invitation is for everyone to come and have a unique experience, my parcero mac great inspiration for others to travel , amazing videos, and all the best for you, I'll wait for you again here
Sebastian, thank you so much! It would not have been the same without your expertise of the city - we absolutely loved it and cannot wait to return! I have your Whatsapp number in the description of the video so others can have an amazing experience with you!
Thanks for this fantastic info and content. I have been to Cartagena and loved it, headed to Medellin in a couple weeks for the first time and have been surfing around looking for stuff to be prepared. This video has been the best ive found, by far. I appreciate you!
Awesome! I will be going to Medellin for my fourth time this month! It will be my fifth time in Colombia. The first time we went to Cartagena. You did a lot in four days. Great video!
One item I learned when I visited in October. I needed my phone to have cell signal to help translate and get taxi. You can get a sim chip but if you don't register you phone after about 5-7 days you phone will be blocked. If you come back later you phone will not work with a new sim chip. You have to up block your phone. I tired to do this during my second trip in December 2020 but they never unlocked it. I had a second phone with me an was able to register it and they should be once register I could get a new sim from the same company during another trip and it should work. try to register your phone you will need your receipt from when you purchased your phone and your passport. They do the phone blocking to try to stop people from stealing phones
That is good feedback about the phones. I went with a US phone provider, google fi, and that seemed to work out great for the few weeks I as in Colombia, but anyone getting a SIM down there will find this comment very helpful. Thank you!
One more item the Medillin airport has free wifi so you can use it before you have a chip it needed. Uber seemed to not work well in December it had more cares in December use Cabify. Locals use idrive but you need to have a guess on what stuff should cost to set your price
Hey bro, we have been watching your videos on Columbia and we feel in love we would love to do 5 days in Medellin and then 5 days in Cartagena we are flying from LAX is there a site you used to book your travel ? Thanks for the help !
Hey bro, if you loved Medellin in February than you’ll ADORE Medellin in Christmas time. ( Dec 23-Jan 2) The lights are something else. Also, if you have some spare time, pay a visit to Pueblito Paisa. It’s a small, cute Spanish Colonial town that is very delightful. I hope you enjoyed Medellin, man. 🇨🇴
I’ll be going to Medellin in about 2 weeks, this video was very helpful! About how much in COP did you spend per day? I’ll only be there for a weekend.
Mac you goty thumbs up 👍🏻. You did a superb job of showing Medellin and the places you visited in Colombia 🇨🇴. This region is my mom and dad's home. My brother and I were born and raised in The United States 🇺🇸. My brother still lives in the States and my pops in Canada 🇨🇦. My mom camera back a year ago after 50 years in The US. Today May 29th, 2022 we're going through a pivotal point in this country's torrid history as the Presidential elections are taking place. I'm gonna stay away from saying anything more but if you wanna know more, just read the international news coverage of why it's a pivotal moment. By the way I really loved 😍 your India 🇮🇳 series as I'm looking to return there in January. Keep doing your best Mac 😎. Onward to a million subs bid.💪🏻
Hi Mac, Where do you get your tour guides from? I wanna travel to Columbia but I'm not fluent in Spanish and would like to get in touch with a guide that can show me around.
Killin it with these videos Mac! Lots of great info! Paragliding would be super fun. I did a cable car ride once in Portugal and was great to get some amazing views. Fresh OJ is the bomb and those cheese balls looked delicious! Have a great time in Dubai and see you on the next one!
Thanks a lot Kenny - I really appreciate it! You hit the nail on the head with this comment - so true! And thanks a lot, Dubai has been a treat so far!
New subscriber here and love this video as well as the Guatape video! We have a family trip planed and will be in Medellin and Guatape. Does the Comuna 13 tour seem safe? We have a 14 & 12 year old with us.
So glad you enjoyed both videos! Thanks for your comment :) Enjoy your time there - it will be an amazing trip! Yes the Comuna 13 tour is very safe as it brings in a lot of revenue the area so tourists are not at risk there.
I felt very save when I did Cumuna 13 the my local friend and a tour guide (I am USA - my local friend told me I even walk like a gringo even wehn I tried to blend in). I would not be in the after dark and I would not walk it without a guide. Some area felt safe but narrow alley between house when you could be jumped if you went to the wrong area. Get a guide and do during the day and all is good. I saw families in the area. I did not feel threaten when I visited the city. I felt very safe in Guatape.
This is so cool, ahhh!!! Thank you for creating this.. I'm going to Medellin and Salento soon and I'm super hyped to keep discovering what all there is to do (I just read about paragliding recently, definitely wanna do that on my last couple of days there!) One question: I see this video was done this year (during the era of... you know... THAT horrible thing that rhymes with "bovid" xP ); on heading back home, did you have to provide proof of a negative Covid test before you flew back? I'm coming from the US and I've been looking at sites just in case, but not sure how the actual process is.. Thanks again for making this!
Thanks so much for your comment, I am happy you enjoyed this! I hope you have an amazing trip going out there! I was here in January and did not fly back to the US actually, I went to Mexico. This content is insanely good! appreciate all the effort! I have been in Bogota for one week now... Planning on staying in Colombia for 1 year for leisure purposes :) I'm ready to leave Bogota to explore the next destination wherever that is. Probably Medellin and Guatape.
I actually did not head back to the states from here - I went to Mexico. But it should be easy to find a test - you can get a PCR or rapid COVID test (rapid is typically cheaper) to get back into the USA.
The centro commercial looked very safe when you guys went there, is there a specific time you should go over there or is it basically safe all day now? Will be heading over there with my friend in May, love the video by the way!
It felt quite safe when we were there. Just need to watch your pockets cus a lot of pickpocketing happens there. My tour guide said that later in the evening after most shops close is when it can get a bit more sketchy! Also, so glad you loved the video :)
I was with a local when I visited and she said to stay away from Centro after dark. We only when around Parque Lleras at night which has a bunch of police.
Always wanted to go to Medellin in particular. This video is an amazing showcase of what it probably looks and feels like to be there. Thank you for showing this. I loved both cities and would like to spend at least a month in both. I stayed in El Poblado and Laureles in Medellin and liked both neighborhoods.
