I lost my 17 year old cat last July. He loved to camp. I have new kitten, I hope he learns to enjoy it too. God Bless our Fur~Babies. 💞 Sleeping in a tent in steady rain is so relaxing. ✌❤🤘
A suggestion for rain pouring off of a tarp or a tent when there is debris on the ground. Pull the debris towards the tarp to create a pile. Make sure its pulled back behind where the rain is puddling. It will act as a splash guard. Which helps keep gear under the tarp dry.
Our dogs never truly leave us they are with us in our hearts and minds forever the world just wouldn't be right without dogs we can learn a lot from them
So there is actually a cool way to make a water proof torch in the wild. You grab some long grass and start tying it all together. You kinda weave it all together. Then you tie all that weaved gras onto a stick and then you find a sap tree and get some of that sap and put it all over your grass. The sap will light even in the rain on the wet grass. And youll have yourself a nice waterproof torch.
Luke, this is one of the reasons why I love watching your videos. Not only are you willing to get out when the weather gets interesting, but you get excited about it. You have inspired me to get out whenever time allows and when the weather takes a turn. I live in Nebraska, so that normally means getting out and making a shelter and fire when it gets cold. I still need to work with really raining situations. Great job!
love your channel and videos. my wife and i were touched by your comments about your dog. it’s the same words we use when explaining our relationship with our maltese. He is my 7x24 best buddy and a life force that makes the whole family happy when he is around.
So sorry for the loss of your dog. I know exactly how that feels. I absolutely love your channel. I am a weather spotter/ chaser For the national weather service here in Wisconsin so your weather videos are my absolute favorites and you do a lot of them. I think you are by far the best channel out there for this type of thing. You are so extremely knowledgeable, I learn something from every video. Thank you!!

I've never thought of myself as suggestible, but I'm noticing something when I watch your videos. You make coffee? I'll make a cup of tea. You check the weather? I check my local weather! You hear thunder? I pause and listen to my window sounds! It's cracking me up! I also look for rain drops on my windows in down pours. LOL. You pull the viewer into your experience.
Luke, hugs for the loss of your best mate....After many years of "camping" in the Australian Army I swore I would never sleep under a tarp ..or Hootchie as we call it, I spent a fortune on tents and have moved back to using a 3x3 Tarp and a Macpac Bush Cocoon....small and light set up.

For some reason, the YT algorithm hasn't suggested your videos for some time. I've been looking at a few pieces of gear for summer hiking (not much needed in Florida). One thing I've loved about your channel from day1 is how you use different gear to enhance gear that may not be the greatest at times. I have cheap tents that normally I wouldn't think of using in a storm, but from you, I've taken note of how you use tarps to block the majority of rain or snow off your main tent. I've also noted various methods you've used to make a 3 season tent usable in winter as well.....Strength and Honor my friend,
Never camped with a tent until after having kids to watch over, always used a tarp. It is nice to see others enjoy it as much as we did. It was such a habit that even after we started using tent, we still had to string up tarp over the tarp. That really helped intercept hot sun, pine cones (the big heavy ones) and falling sticks in the wind. You bring back wonderful memories of many years ago. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Nice one Luke👍👍 Aqua Quest tarps are the bomb, have several and serve me well. Good set up when all said and done, wind and rain no problem. Ideal pitching the tent under the tarp, plenty of room for the biggie bivy.. Stormy weather is fun when you can stay dry and out of the wind, otherwise not so much. Great video and well filmed of course, good job, thanks. Enjoy!

Great video I'm in Eastern Kentucky and I enjoy watching that video that you just made camping in the rain that's pretty nice actually thanks for sharing my name is Randy Johnson looking forward to more videos.
I agree completely that we should take along a little extra when there will be adverse weather and even non-threatening weather. As a camper of 30 years, I've found this to be useful. I just purchased a -35 deg sleeping bag. That's one thing I've been needing. With the world the way it is now, we need to be prepared. If power goes out at home, I'll have the warm sleeping bag, an alcohol burning cookstove, a butane cookstove and a tent which can be used to keep warm indoors when power is out. Also have a cot with thicker type mattress & many other useful camping items. Hopefully, I'll only need these things for camping, but nevertheless. Enjoyed your video. Your tarp really did the job.
What a brilliant way to position the tarp! I always wonder why more people don’t put them closer to the ground during bad weather. The towel idea was awesome. You have given me some ideas when I camp this summer! Green can mean a tornado could pop up.
Brought back so many memories of My 23 Years in Remote Area Search in South Australia and of so many wonderful nights spent camping with colleagues. Also memories of the people rescued and unfortunately of the bodies recovered.
Great video as always Luke. I always make myself a coffee before pressing play, because i know i'll be craving a coffee for some odd reason, not sure why lol. I always set up my camp in case of storms, so i don't have to worry about pop up storms in the summer. I also use rainfall runoff from my tarp as extra drinking water. Dollar store shower curtains work great as tarps too :)
I really like and enjoy watching all your videos about adventures and product reviews. They are informative and entertaining! I do a lot of cooking on wood stoves, enjoy cooking at home and at the park. I don't do a lot of Adventures like you do, although I wish I did. I was just thinking though, almost all the time you are videoing you are only cooking on gas or solid fuel. Even though you have fires, it seems to me you rarely use fire for cooking or even boiling water when the locations that you are at have wood easily accessible.

As you were walking in I was thinking what a wonderful location to do a winter hot tent camping episode that would make maybe next winter! With all the available standing small stick wood and fallen dead wood, there would be minimal effort to build quite the supply with just a folding saw like a Silky and a camp axe for any splitting necessary! I love the location and this video Luke!!
Watched a few of yours over the past few years but this one is the one that's made my mind up. Subbed. You deserve it. Tents have their time and place but tarps are far more flexible. And inclement weather is more fun. You keep riding your own road..and thanks!

Great timing I’m in upstate ny ,leave tomorrow for a extended weekend in the woods to escape the craziness that’s going on in the world right now.the only thing I’ll miss is my 4 month old puppy but just ordered him a backpack,a rainy day in nature.I’ll take it!! Thanks
Thanks Luke love your extreme weather journeys!
Well done as usual, Luke. Strength and honor.
I love what you do but why is it that hiking out after a pretty good rain storm everything on the trail is dry ?? Strength and honesty !!
Nothing like being in a storm under a tarp. The sound of the rain and thunder is so therapeutic.
Love being in a good storm!!👍
Have been watching for 2 years love the channel and the honest reviews great content
Watched a few of yours over the past few years but this one is the one that's made my mind up. Subbed. You deserve it. Tents have their time and place but tarps are far more flexible. And inclement weather is more fun.
You keep riding your own road..and thanks!
I find videos like this so cool! Thanks for sharing!
Really enjoyed watching that... great camp.. thats tarp set up works really well, and I love that small tent, some good wild camping weather too. Good to experience that weather.... but extra set of clothes is a must! Excellent video. 👍
