    In regards to the transmission hunting for a moment when you floored it on the HWY that is pretty normal when you have a vehicle/transmission that adapts to the driver over time. The adaption is pretty aggressive early on as well. This vehicle/transmission is dealing with many different drivers and is early in adaption. I'm not a fan of the current gen Colorado/Canyon but this new gen really has my attention. Torque is king and all power levels have more torque than HP down low and that is important. Great review.

    • @jakes5530
      @jakes5530 Год назад +4

      Yup very similar to the 2019 Ranger when it first came out. All the reviewers criticized the 10 speed, but actual owners love it. Apparently most new transmissions take a few thousand miles to “learn” exactly how you drive and react accordingly. It’s an interesting concept, but makes sense considering how complex vehicles are these days.

    I've pulled up next to Both a Ranger and a Colorado in my Dakota. Roughly same length, but defiantly not same height. Majority being 4x4s on 18" wheels They look more Full size circa 2000s than they do "midsize" circa 2000s. Now a Maverick, thats smaller than my Dakota. Reason why the Midsize market fizzeled was due to them costing the same as a full size with the same MPG. Now they're 2/3 the price and get slightly better MPG. Though by 2/3s I mean $40k vs 70k lol

      YES 🎯🎯🎯 this is it. Back then say 10-15 years ago this was the case. You could get a smaller truck v6 but why? When then you could go full size and get roughly 1-3 mpg less vs the mid size and definitely costed near the same then. Couple thousand more. Now there’s a definite difference in cost and gas usage when you opt for the mid size trucks.

    As a very satisfied current owner of a 2019 crew cab 4x4 V6, WT short bed I feel the new truck looks better and has some great features. However you mentioned the 4 WD control in what you said was an LT. But if you go on line to build your own, the WT and LT do not have a two speed transfer case available at all. Also your able to get the HO version tune at the dealer for under $400! The lowest trim for that is Trail Boss. I’m sure, that like in mine, if I engage Tow/Haul mode, there’s very little hesitation in the trans downshift.

GM has not had issues with there 2.7 either, other then the transmission issues. Because something has turbos, does not make it unreliable. Ships, trains, aircraft all use turbos. My 2.7 has a composite block, similar to the Fords 6.7 diesel. Ford is superior in reliability, design, performance though in the EB motors. GM 2.7 lacks dual port injection, and being a 4 cylinder motor is limited. It also has carbon build up, although that can be cleaned every 60k.

      I believe it’s $20 a month or something like that. But you get the first 3 months for free. Honestly, just use apple carplay or android auto. There’s no real advantage of the google built in system.

    I wish they offered it in just the standard v6. I'm switching from my Ford ranger to the 2022 vr2 just to get away from the 2.3 turbo.

    Loved the video! I know it was an LT, but what packages did the truck that you test drove have?

    • @jakes5530
      @jakes5530 Год назад

      To get to $46k, you have to basically add every option on the LT. You can get a modestly equipped LT for $40k or so.

    I’m hanging right on the fence about pulling the trigger on one of these new Colorados. I’m gonna wait around to see what Toyota upgrades first. They’re in desperate need of an overhaul in both interior and engine as well. From what I’ve heard the new gen Tacoma is gonna have a turbo engine as well. It’s hard for me not to go ahead and get a colorado though. Really solid redesign!
