As a Brazilian, it’s simply awesome to the see mainly north, and north east states being represented in a game. For those who don’t know, the importance of north and northeast states in Brazil are often forgotten even inside the country. In games, usually only Rio de Janeiro is the only one represented and that’s boring as heck. Thanks Ogre battle and DYKG for bringing this info!

Japan and Brazil have a long lasting relationship, specially since the landmark immigration of Japanese to Brazil in the 1900's. To this day, Brazil has the largest Japanese community outside of Japan. There's also immigration on the opposite direction, like the dekasegi in the 80's. BTW, did you know Samus Aran (from Metroid) is actually named after Edson Arantes? Edson Arantes do Nascimento is Pelé's real name (one of the greatest football players)

The scissorman from Clock Tower was also based off a monster from the Dario Argento movie Phenomenon. In fact a lot of Clock Tower comes from that movie and other Argento movies
Minor nitpick regarding the DKC section: Junior was not merely “an early prototype of Diddy”. Donkey Kong jr. has been part of the franchise since the arcade games in the early 1980s.
It's a very splitting hairs thing because DK Jr. kind of was a prototype Diddy. He was originally conceived as a redesign for DK Jr., but Nintendo told them it was too distinct from the original DK Jr. design to use (probably because the original DK Jr. was just reintroduced in Super Mario Kart), so Rare renamed him to Diddy instead of just redesigning him again and they became separate characters.
Jr wasn't a prototype Diddy. Originally JR would have been the younger ape that worked against Mario to save the original DK. In the DKC universe the OG DK would age to become Cranky Kong, Jr would take over the mantle of DK, and Diddy was just th best friend of DK's.
That's weird. Logic would suggest that they'd then still use the 7-Up vibe and change the character to the relevant mascot, rather than just making it unrelated to 7-Up at all.
There were other game magazine reviewers that had their headshots inserted in the Star Trek: TNG game as well. I recall Nintendo Power and Game Informer both called out their team members getting inserted in the game.
I remember that when I was a kid I thought that if I only drank 7-UP that Cool Spot would appear from the label of the bottle. That concept lasted a week.

I enjoyed Star Trek The Next Generation A Final Unity on PC when I was a kid. Not sure if the game holds up today, but if they re release it on GOG, I sure would give it a try again.
Man I loved star trek the next gen, what a great show! Got to stay up late to watch, then it was followed by the original! It was Saturday night so I was allowed to stay up late with my dad and watch both, although sometimes I feel asleep cause it was late and I was still a little trekker! But good times! Miss you dad rip
As both a fellow Trekker/ Trekkie and a fellow Matthew, right on man. TNG also aired on Saturday nights were I lived in California on Fox 40. I was so into it, I had the bridge and transporter playsets, the Enterprise-D/ Klingon Bird of Prey/ Romulan Warbird ships with electronic sounds and many of the TNG action figures. I used to mix them with my X-Men, Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles for crossovers. I missed out on the SNES TNG game as a kid, I knew of it thanks to Nintendo Power but never got a chance to play it. I used to watch TOS reruns with my dad, too. I'm glad you also have fond memories with your dad of watching those series together. We got to grow up in an amazing time, I wish my nephew and nieces could've had some of the great experiences my brothers, sister and I got to. Live long and prosper, peace and long life, friend!

0:23 60s, 80s and 90s actually. No one said "funky" in the 90s except to describe foul odor and that clearly wasn't the use meant here (just as "gnarly" used here is clearly the positive connotation version) and "outrageous" in a positive connotation was an 80s term. You know, like Jem and the Holograms?.

0:18 It might be the New Super Mario Bros series spoiling me but I do wish there was more level music in Super Mario World. Also wish they kept the Hammer Suit as well. I can understand why the DK vs Super Wario pitch was rejected but it'd have been interesting to have seen Rare do a Wario game or even a Mario game. Learning about Korporal Krizzle, makes me think he could work as a second in command to King K. Rool, like if he was boss of Chimp Caverns instead of Master Necky Sr. Also imagine if we had a sequel to Super Mario Kart using the Super FX chip with the characters being 2D sprites in a 3D race track. Regarding Earthbound, I imagine if the game was a hit when first brought to the U.S., we'd have gotten Mother 3... in the form of a port to DS or DSIWare I always thought if Live a Live got a sequel, it'd be fun to do a What if Scenario where Oersted and Streibough swapped...
I understand wanting more music in Super Mario World other than one theme remixed in various ways, but even then, Super Mario World's OST is way better than the "bah bah" garbage OST from the New Super Mario Bros. series.
Lived in a place that specialised in US imports and played this by chance because FF6 and CT were already rented out. I loved this game that it got me into emulating it. Terranigma is a game that needs a remake or put on SNES Online. It was made by Enix right before the merger with square. I’ve heard rumors about the copyrights and no one knows the owner of the game.. but they need to find a way to release that game somehow.
Frankly, you could say that about half of the pre-merger library. It does amaze me that Terranigma hasn't been rereleased in some form or another, given that it's one of the best Enix games to get a Western release and has gotten a cult following for being released in PAL territories but not NA, so that gives credence to the theory of licensing limbo. Of course, this IS Square Enix and they haven't really been optimising their legacy IPs outside of digital trash.
If Super Mario World were released today I wonder if the names of the Special Zone would have hashtags in front of them with words like lit, iconic, oof, slaps etc.
