I really like this run because its very similar to my casual playthrough. I stayed on minimum hearts until I completely maxxed out stamina. I even turned in my GSI and Wind Temple Heart Containers as soon as I found the cursed statue.
I went through the Royal passageway through the castle, just by exploring the castle and it took me a rather long while before i found out that the direction from the landing is actually the intended way.

I’ve been running the great sky island and have been wanting to learn this run next (before trying to learn the all shrines run), so I am over joyed with seeing my favorite Zelda speedrunner post an explanation of the run.
Excited for all shrines! It was always my favorite category. I wish I had the free time to speedrun, but since I don't, I am looking forward to watching you!
Just beautiful! I will never speedrun but I love watching you do it and I love the glitches. I hope you make tutorials for all of them in time. I haven’t gotten the mid-air wing yet, which makes me sad, and that’s not even a glitch! I had to spend hours to get BILs, though, so maybe it’ll happen eventually, but my expectations are low. Still, I love watching your tutorials, and I always learn at least one thing in each of your vids-when they’re commentated 😅. I look forward to all of your uploads! And I still cry for every Zelda scene related to the dragon. Even just sitting on her back. Even just _thinking_ about it. Cheat code for sure 😂.
When I first saw the last tear cutscene, I was barely holding it in until the scene that appeared outside the cutscene of all the silent princesses and I just started sobbing
Hey Lim, you give me a great escape from reality and I know you put a ton of effort into these videos and into your strategies and content ideas. I know that's not as easy of a feat as many would make it out to be, and I just wanted to let you know I super appreciate you.
14:50 Correction: The horned statue IS available from the start without glitches. You can reach it via the Royal Hidden Passage starting from Hyrule Castle. I found it in my first playthrough before getting the paraglider. During the main quest where you have to go to the Castle I just explored the area and found this giant cave which was really exciting. But at the other end of the cave at lookout landing the cracked wall wasn't there yet (it only appears after the first dungeon) which meant that I had to use ascend to get out without an easy way to get back to the statue.
I was going to comment exactly this, I did a sort of 3-heart run of the game and found the horned statue by starting in Hyrule Castle so I could trade the 4th heart for stamina before doing any story in the game. I also had to use the horned statue to get 10 hearts for the thunder island vitality door, then warped to immediately exchange those hearts back for stamina, but that was after completing the other 4 dungeons.
I love the way the master sword's blade matches Zelda's horns when you first pull it out and the golden coating flakes off. I think it's a shame that it immediately gets toned down.
“Building with logs…. is something we are not going to be doing” as you just flew across the shrine. I don’t know why that part made me laugh so hard 😂

But with other categories, with more time spent _between_ the tutorial island and the end boss, TotK runs can be really, really interesting. That middle part is where most of the fun is.
"That's why duping is so powerful - you only need to get one and then you can copy it as many times as you want." You ain't kidding. Probably saved me 100 hours of grinding in my casual playthrough. Much as I like this game, I'm not interested in killing the something like 100 gleeoks I'd have to kill to upgrade a single set of armor, nor am I interested in waiting 100 in game days to collect all of the dragon parts. Heck, I got annoyed collecting one of each dragon part!
Hey lim, now the game is out, it would be so so cool if we could hear your overall thoughts and reflections on the limcube + channel. Maybe covering your predictions from all your pre-totk videos and which ones were right/wrong and how you feel about that
I am a bit sad not many speed runners put time into running the current version of the game. Many cool glitches are beyond me now, and I don’t want to shell out $70 for a cartridge version.

hey man love your Ui (user interface, overlay graphics) especially your little avatar. I see you in it, and its very clean looking. Do you create your own graphics? Ive done that for a living for years and in broadcast news, I can appreciate some good layouts!
The discussion about closed vs open shrines and how skippable they are reminds me of the DLC shrines in BOTW. I think they came out in the pre-wind-bomb era, but the monks were notably more walled off than in the vast majority of the regular 120 shines. Any speculation about that? Great video as always! Also congrats on the run!
Ah, but you see, I was one step ahead of them too! You can get into the Royal Hidden Passageway from the castle and just walk over to the horned statue.
idea for that guy with the bow in gutanbac/ascend shrine, you could just wack him with your sword once? you can't make that cycle with the platform any faster, so, wack 'em to temporarily get him to not shoot you, then run for the thing and do the spin attack, it'll only be a second diversion but it'll guarantee you don't have to reset the run at that point (edited cuz at first i said set them on fire, but i just remembered, you don't have zonai batteries yet)
This was super interesting, thanks for the content! I got a question: it seems like in a lot of shrines you actually overshoot with the pocket rocket jumps. Like you always just add another jump and end up landing behind the goal. It doesn't look like it's faster, is there a reason I'm missing here? Or is it actually just a few mistakes? Example: 56:13 seems like one jump would have been enough but you take a second jump, land behind the thingy and awkwardly run/climb back
38:06 - I figured this out accidentally and finally remembered I should go unlock him and his quests after I'd mapped the whole depths. Still don't regret it, haha.
3:15 I’m fairly certain the light dragon is always in the same spot (minor differences are quite possible) when the “Find Zelda” quest pops up, since you’re always going to see her there. Noticed it on my second… and then up to my 5th run. The irony is so poignant!
Question, can you create a save file for a switch game at a certain point, play on that file, back it up somehow, then later come back to this save file. I want to use something like this to skip the tutorial on this game and pkmn Violet. Ideas?
i don’t know what’s crazier, the fact that people think you could use temporary stamina for this or the idea that they’re the first ones to come up with the idea
This is really cool to see. I was kinda wishing I could try a “normal guy” run of the game where I at the very least skip the Energy Cell, if not the Paraglider or even Purah Pad (and just ban myself from abilities, since I assumed they’re always required), but from what you’ve said the only one you can choose to ignore is the Paraglider. Good to know… even if I’m a little sad lol Zonai devices alone are super important, and imagine trying to play the game with literally zero Energy Cells. It would be way slower but it would be more challenging and I think it’d be fun to try it like that
@@Failuigi41 it’s true, I know I can simply try avoid using it, but if it were possible I would like to see how the game operates if you don’t even have the chance, you know? Cause theoretically, normal Hylians COULD still build or use some Zonai devices, but they would need to find external batteries to use. Although annoying from a first playthrough perspective I’m curious how much you could do without Link’s normal tools (but still having access to the rest of the stuff on the surface of Hyrule, excluding shrines).
you can in fact go backwards to the horned statue from hyrule castle. dunno why you would since casually youll get the hole in the wall shortcut and in speedruns youll clip and its so ungodly slow to go through backwards
for the recall shrine, it is not cycle based anymore. you can grap one of the hands and just move it to the other, opening the door without using recall.
I found a glitch. Instead of duping Zonai parts against a wall, just do b and y when pulling out Zonai parts, and your amount won't go down. Essentially making it so you only need 1 of each Zonai item.
At around 56:00 you mentioned the light dragon's movements being confusing. In one of my playthroughs I met with the Deku Tree and then I went around getting the tears before getting the Master Sword. Because the Deku Tree gave me a map marker to track the Master Sword and I had it active, I happened to notice that when you find a tear and watch a memory the light dragon will appear overhead... Did I just discover an important detail that will effect the speedrunning community? I should mention I was on 1.0
1:12:16 it's not open for glitches but for improved replayability. If you just want to get it over with cheese the shrine in any way you like and move on.
Do we know what happens with the Light Dragon's cycles immediately after getting the Master Sword? Like, does she respawn somewhere else to continue the cycle or does her model actually move back to the cycle path?
Maybe what speedrunners could do is, you demonstrate that you _can_ complete the intro in X amount of time, and then in any future runs you can start from your own actual gameplay start time + maybe a 5 second offset? So you still have incentive to optimize that section for yourself
my understanding is that it's the creation of a save itself that is the issue - there's still a big chance that people will wait anyway before saving to put the cycles in their favour, since the actual creation of a save can't be verified, and is not intrinsically linked to their intro time (i.e would be based on an honour system)
I think for intro skips for this catagory, atleast, could be not counting time until you've left the depths in the prologue (the transition between Link failing to catch Zelda and waking up could be about when, I'm no speedrunner or moderator so I couldn't exactly give a proper time, but it's a thought I had while watching the intro)
Wait, couldn’t you use ultra hand to do the clock thing at the end of recall shrine if you could somehow reach there faster? Or would the pause to switch abilities take too much time
was watching this ages after i finished all shrines & lightroots and totk and i think my fav shrine name is probs pupunke and its lightroot counterpart eknupup lmao, though many of the names in this game are fun to say
How did you avoid having the gloom hands spawn at the Hylian shield location? Also, if you are on 1.1.0, is there a way to upgrade to 1.1.1 without upgrading to the latest version? Thanks for the commentated version! They are how I found your channel several years ago.
I have a suspicion as to why the light dragon can be in different spots. I think the spot that the cycle starts depends on the point in the gsi cycle she is on when you complete gsi
While you're running at around 37:40, is there some downhill in there where a brief shield surf would be faster than a run? Or would it not be prolonged enough to be worth the putting-away animation?
I haven't tested this, but what would happen if you climbed the temple of time and skiped the door instead of clearing the four shrines of the tutorial?
I *still* use sort duping today because I turned off updates as soon as I realized just how broken 1.1.0 is. I'm on either 1.1.0 or 1.1.1; is there a way to check my exact version?
I’ve heard that max stamina from food can be used for master sword. Wouldn’t it be much faster to dupe ingredients then get 20 shrines? Also I could have sworn I’ve seen someone with 1 max hp because they transferred all their hearts to stamina (including two of their starting hearts). I could be misremembering but it might be something to investigate for this run too

How did you avoid having the gloom hands spawn at the Hylian shield location? Also, if you are on 1.1.0, is there a way to upgrade to 1.1.1 without upgrading to the latest version? Thanks for the commentated version! They are how I found your channel several years ago.
You need a friend with 1.1.1 and then sync version with local user
@@lelelelelawl thank you!
I have a suspicion as to why the light dragon can be in different spots. I think the spot that the cycle starts depends on the point in the gsi cycle she is on when you complete gsi
For context the gsi light dragon has a different path during the tutorial compared to later in the game
Hey Limcube, I hope you don’t mind me asking but where are you from?
i am so exited for this video
While you're running at around 37:40, is there some downhill in there where a brief shield surf would be faster than a run? Or would it not be prolonged enough to be worth the putting-away animation?
3:12 How about creating a save file just before the end of the intro?
the issue is the 4 inute cutscene between intro and gameplay
I haven't tested this, but what would happen if you climbed the temple of time and skiped the door instead of clearing the four shrines of the tutorial?
31:40
Your cadence is so meditative, I could watch this all day.
geat explanation! but how does this throw sprinting work?(with crouching)
There are a lot of cool shrine names but one that always sticks out to me is Joju-U-U
not to be confused with joku-u
I could be wrong, but aren't you able to get the master sword with temporary stamina? wouldn't that be faster?
Temporary stamina does not work for this
I *still* use sort duping today because I turned off updates as soon as I realized just how broken 1.1.0 is. I'm on either 1.1.0 or 1.1.1; is there a way to check my exact version?
press plus when highlighting the game on the home menu, right below the title it says the version
@@huwdte 1.1.1. Thank you kindly.
Wouldn't you need to go into the depth 2 times for all shrines? One time for autobuild and one time to access the korok forest
How will you do all shrines without going into the depths for the shrines in Korok forest?
i saw Linkus use ultrahand to move the clock hands in the Recall shrine? is that 1.0.0 exclusive?
It’s slower
My favorite is En-Oma, lol. I just cant not think of Enoma's
I’ve heard that max stamina from food can be used for master sword. Wouldn’t it be much faster to dupe ingredients then get 20 shrines? Also I could have sworn I’ve seen someone with 1 max hp because they transferred all their hearts to stamina (including two of their starting hearts). I could be misremembering but it might be something to investigate for this run too
It can not be used for that and you also cant transfer more hearts when youre at 3
cant wait for low%
