      Jay Parmar yes it’s pretty classic Marshall. Bright on top and I didn’t even go really extreme. Thanks for watching Jay! I think I might have found a new niche for my videos. Since I’m out onstage anyway, might as well take stuff with me and test it.

    Both amps sounded great but the Jubilee was always much higher in the mix so it sounded bigger. It also even sounded as though you had a longer delay setting with the Jubilee, although this could have just given me that impression because it was louder. Didnt mean that it was bigger sounding. Ive got Two Jubilees and Two Friedmans (BE 100 and Dirty Shirley 40-Watt) all good amps.

    I was in a similar situation where my friend's Marshall cut better than my Smallbox
    Dave walked me through modding mine by snipping the coupling capacitor over V2
    That really opened the amp a lot more, and when I boost it with a Suhr Koko Boost reloaded, I get all the cut I need.
    Awesome amp

    • @BetonBenni
      @BetonBenni 3 года назад +2

      Which amp do you prefer? I mean, the friedman is waaaaaay more expensive here.
      Have you played the be 100 deluxe?

    • @13mrbolivar
      @13mrbolivar 3 года назад +1

      @@BetonBenni where to start on this. I have not tried the 100 deluxe. Just a three channel version of what I have. Mine is a newer model with certain switches that are not even in the users manual. In all honesty, The Friedman has a much tighter sound. But that does not mean better. I find when I am playing through my single coil fenders or Les Pauls, I prefer my Marshall. It’s not as tight but it is sweeter. The mid range is where it’s at. It’s actually surprising how much gain the Marshall can put out. But it really starts to compress and fall apart after seven on the gain. In my opinion. When you start pushing the power tubes on the Marshall, magic happens. I really love this amp!
      Now on the B 100, every time I am thinking it can’t get any better than the Marshall, I plug into the Friedman and it blows my mind. It’s a tighter I British tone with ridiculous levels of gain! And it doesn’t fall apart, it just wants to cut your head off. This amp is no joke. I have a custom shop 62 strat and I can make that thing sound heavy as hell with the Friedman. Xtra switches on the back to pinpoint your tone. The main guitar I play through on this amp is an Ibanez prestige RGA 121. I have a dimarzio humbucker from hell in the neck, and a evolution in the bridge. Crushing tone with searing distortion.
      I think a good example of the differences in tone would be AC/DC big gun for the Marshall versus Steve Vai tone from passion and warfare. Just depends on what you’re looking for.

    • @BetonBenni
      @BetonBenni 3 года назад +1

      @@13mrbolivar I like to play modern metal stuff, sometimes at drop C, but I love Marshall type of amps, because they're sounding open and not toooo compresses, like most of the modern metal amps. Just great mids and nice high-end, but it has to stay tight.
      I guess, the Friedman would be my amp then... If it olny wasn't that expensive :) It has to stay tight and not get too flubby at higher gain setups.

    • @13mrbolivar
      @13mrbolivar 3 года назад +1

      @@BetonBenni Keep this in mind. I know Scott Ian pretty well. The last time they were here in Denver I was hanging out with a bunch of the bands and was surprised to see Gary Holt was using silver Jubilee‘s. That amp is heavier than you think. I had a boogie Mark five right before I got the Marshall. I thought I really liked it until I got the Marshall. But then I felt like I was missing something when playing more progressive metal single note solo stuff. That’s when I got the Friedman. In all honesty, They are such good amps but pretty different. The other thing is, the Marshall can really do the dirty blues thing so well too! I have a 65 reverb deluxe re-issue hand wired. If it wasn’t for the insane reverb of that amp, I would take the Marshall tone any day.

    • @13mrbolivar
      @13mrbolivar 3 года назад +1

      I hear you On the price of the Friedman. It is a bit ridiculous. I still can’t believe I bought one. You pay a lot for that few extra percent of uncompressed hi gain. I also have a TC electronics spark pedal that will get my Marshall in the same ballpark of the Friedman. Kind of.

    This was a great video, thanks for sharing. I own a Smallbox 50 and I installed my own SAT switch (SAT switch does not effect channel 1). I play channel 2 with SAT always on for rythym and always sounds like a TS pushed mean Marshall but I don't use any pedals in front. I then use the Friedman Buxom clean boost to EQ a little and give a db push to then sound more chuggy with a little grind. I've found the clean boost sounds way better with even better cut. With the SAT switch there is already more than enough gain so a TS type pedal just adds compression and actually lowers my overall cut.

    • @FinalResonanceTV

      Andy Pessia cool I never owned a real OCD but it model out of the HX is amazing! It’s a pretty transparent boost. I like it better than my tube screamer. I have the sat switch on mine, except it’s on the gain nob. As a pull switch.

      @@jmantheman5595 I heared a sound engineer said the frequency area of vocal, but i dont remember exactly. But too much highs and upper mids, and low mids can mask vocal's presence and fundamental. I think it is a good idea to stomp a EQ pedal that carve out the clashing frequency when the vocallst is singing, to give him space. Sometimes guitar lost in the mix because of projection issue also. For example, the cab projection is hitting wall of human at body at the front row, until the audience behind hear a muffled unclear version of the guitar sound from the cab.

    • @FinalResonanceTV
      @FinalResonanceTV  5 лет назад +3

      Craven Moorehead this is true. Except if you know the Silver, it’s different than almost every Marshall I have ever owned in that the volume taper is pretty slow at getting loud. It takes 7-8 on the dial to achieve what Friedman does at 3.5 on the distorted channel. I volume matched them prior to the show. The lead boost on both is coming from Line 6 HX Effects. I did mentioned the Marshall has more low end girth, from its power plant.

    I preferred the Marshall to the Friedman in this clip and the Silver Jubilee has never been one of my favorite Marshall amps. Probley, the Friedman has more midrange cut, but you hit the Jubilee with a front end boost and it’s the best lead sound and feel of the two by a good bit!

    Marshall wins easily and half the price of the overpriced Friedman which copies it anyways. Why are the drums too loud? They overpower everything you need to A/B the sound better so you hear more than just banging drums.

      @@FinalResonanceTV I still take the Marshall as it is half the price and sounds as good if not better. Plus it is not trying to copy another amp. The only Friedman amp that is any good is the BE-50 or BE-100.

    I hate to say this. I did not dig the Friedman at all.And dude, I have a Smallbox Combo. After hemmoraging that much cash for a single combo,(to be fair the local Friedman dealer did charge me the max they figured they could get) I saw that Sweetwater had a blowout going on DSL40C's and I could have bought NINE of those for about the same price I SHOULD have picked up an old Traynor or 2 or 3 and made a devastating wet dry wet pedal platform.

    • @FinalResonanceTV

      lynyrddeville i understand what your saying. It’s a lot of money for sure. My Silver was $1200 on final closeout and it’s a great amp. Depends on what you prefer for eq focus.

    ISNT THIS A 100W MARSHALL VS 50 W SMALLBOX?
    its not a fair comparison! of course the 100w will outshine the 50w in a live situation, unless you are micd thru a PA system.
    100 will always have a bigger, clearer sound and cut thru, than a 50.

    • @FinalResonanceTV
      @FinalResonanceTV  8 месяцев назад

      Yes this is true. It was pretty close. Just the Marshall did this magic thing with the ocd boost for leads that made its sustain incredibly cool. The Friedman was a little less fat with that. But your correct 100w gives you that extra weight and thump

      There is a video not between these two, but with that same SmallBox and A JJ micd up in my studio with outstanding 4k video. That’s a killer amp. Either is incredible, but with the boost on the front end the Marshall had an amazing level of Sustain it doesn’t have naturally.

      Shocking I know!! In my mind I thought they were very even on the Rhythm Channels, but when I hit the Marshall with the OCD Boost Model! It did something so different than the SmallBox. It was the perfect sustain and feel. The Silver is a bit of a beast like an old 800 with a little more gain, but add OCD and it’s the perfect high gain lead channel!
