Go out and hustle. Speak to businesses and offer your services. Make them understand the value that video and photo can bring to their business. You also probably should not spend $8k on something you haven’t made money off of yet.
Even with a cheapo monitor, cheapo battery, and cheapo matte box, your looking at like $600 for those three items. High end, the monitor alone will run you $600. The camera is another story. The camera it's like $3k, the lens is probably $2k.
I have the FX 30 with the port keys LH 5P2. You can adjust the focus while you’re shooting. I really wanted the 7 inch but it did not have this feature. I just picked up the small rig follow focus lite it’s really neat. In addition I will say I love my Neewer 99 external battery because I got it for only $85 and its digital display tells you how much of a draw for each of the outputs. I don’t have the audio handle, but I just use wireless lab mics or a my Rode shotgun mic! And I keep my Tamron 17 to 70 F 2.8 on it most of the time. I do need to get some more prime lenses. Nikon isn’t great for video, but I started with a cheap D3400. Lots of people are gonna tell you that your camera isn’t good because it’s Nikon or whatever, and the D3200 is certainly going to show its age, but just always remember it’s the photographer and not their equipment. I still carry 2/3 spare oem batteries and I use the original ones (a6700) to keep the camera lighter to attach it to my waist or shoulder when I need fast travel with the scooter. VMount battery is something I would try, but it would compromise the chance to install a light and compact quick realse under the camera for my belt. Mic I’ve tried multiple rode (70€, 130€ and 250€ model of a friend), after comparing clip and posted on RUclips I’m sticking with a small rig 30€ shot gun for compactness. For sure it’s me not taking advantage of their capabilities, but for race car sound I’m still not able to make the most out of a high end mic, wish I knew more about. Anamorphic with fix focal length is something I will for sure try when shooting acting scene, but during I live event variable zoom is crucial, and also would mean another battery and weight. In the end the matte box, still can’t see the difference between videos shot with ore without and a VND + cpl is something I need to change constantly though out a 10 hours day shooting, changing panels would be to demanding in time. A6700 with top handel, small rig mic/dji mic, viltrox monitor (not always), 18/105f4, 35mm f1.4 and a 70/200f4 with a vnd+cpl is my actual rig

Genuine question, is this all necessary or is it a matter of convenience/personal preference? Like what pieces would you consider optional? As a hobbyist possibly looking to turn photography/videography into a side hustle, it’s pretty intimidating to figure out what I actually need to produce half decent results and what’s just being extra
A great question that I honestly think a lot of camera people ask. I don’t think you NEED any of it. The camera and the lens are all you need to capture images. The additional pieces are all for specific purposes. Longer batter life, bigger screen, better handheld movement. It all comes down to personal preference and what you want it to be.
