Yup. The reverse layup, kiss the rim, pump fake, fade away, etc ... He's the only player to have that many signature moves, and your right, he did this every game. Enormous expectations and he exceeded them every single night.
BTW used to practice those moves on my Jordan Jammer!

GAME!!!!! all 82 games. and he was a SHOOTING GUARD DUDE!!!! a shooting guard doing these moves on anyone and everyone WHILE getting elbowed, punched and thrown. and one more thing. players that played with and against Lebron respected him. but everyone feared MJ when it is their time to play him.

The highlights are great but I have always felt his legend was created by those moments where you could see him flip the switch, and completely take over a game. Many times single-handedly willing the Bulls to a W. Every game appeared to be a personal insult that anyone would think of even trying to guard him. lol

It always amused me when these Lebron guys say MJ couldn’t deal with zone coverages, but there’s like 100s of instances of him splitting double and triple teams in two and three.
The zone argument is stupid and idiotic because there is no true zone in the NBA. You have a defensive three second which, in you cant play 2-3, maybe 3-2 you could play, but there is no way you can play zone against a shooter. You can play zone only against dudes that can only drive and cant move without the ball.
In addition, zone is like a wildcat play in the NFL. It is rarely employed. Have you seen a team playing zone more than a few plays in a game, if that? Stop this zone nonsense.
During the 80's and 90's you couldn't play zone against most high school teams. Ever heard of a zone buster? A zone in the NBA during that era was laughable. David Stern helped implement the zone defense, defensive 3 secs, no hand checking(freedom of movement) and 24 sec shot clock to influence Euro players to come to the NBA and to compensate for the lack of skill in the modern players.
what's funny to me is back then the 3 point shot wasn't as important so teams cluttered the lanes.. MJ had to deal with constant traffic when he drove the ball..I can only imagine how easy he'd get to the rim playing today when the floor is so spread out

Exactly. These highlights are fun to watch and all but nothing compared to seeing these moves as they were happening. Without the context of whole games, you don't see and therefore will not fully understand how amazing this dude was. Played every single game, no load management and went pedal to the metal every time he was on the court.
He didn't stop. Dude was relentless on both ends of the court. Unrivaled drive, tenacity, killer instinct. He put on a show. If you bought tickets to see him, you got to see the real MJ, he gave you that, you get your money's worth every time. And sadly no amount of highlights put together will come even close to showing how great, dominant, extra ordinary, etc...this man was on the basketball court.
That is the only reason Kobe and LBJ fans would even think their guy is better, because they never saw Jordan's entire career play out live and there's no way to do so. Had they seen it they'd be singing a different tune. The eyes don't lie. When you witness greatness, you'll know no one else compares.
watching highlights is like watching a movie trailer. I thank ALL who put entire 90's Bulls games on youtube to relive the memories. When I forget a playoff game is coming on, I easily turn to one of these games, especially the NBC NBA broadcasts and some WGN broadcasts also. Yes, I remember those games with a smile as MJ was Bruce Lee on the court.

When we were watching Jordan we all understood what we are watching but he did it so often that we almost became immune to it sometimes. He is truly the greatest that ever did it if you actually have watched him play in his prime for all those years. If there's anyone that's ever deserved a G.O.A.T title it's Michael Jordan.
Exactly, we all knew what we were watching. Whether you were a Jordan fan or he was destroying your dreams, you knew. A statement I have said about Jordan that separates him from other was players was how you felt as a fan when he actually failed, lost or missed the clutch shot. I think that is the opposite of everyone else. Everyone else yeah it's amazing when they succeed, when they hit the game winner but it was always amazing when they seemed to have a 4th quarter that was almost perfect or unbeatable. With Jordan that was literally the game plan under Phil. Get MJ to play team ball for 3 quarters than go to another level in the 4th the other teams could not compete with. MJ always did enough through 3 quarters to keep the game close, manageable, in striking distance. Some games when offense was clicking may only get 20 pts through 3 quarters..other times if everyone was struggling meant Jordan was gonna have 30 at halftime. Every fan particularly fans of other great teams knows there is a difference when facing him..your team could be firing on all cylinders, no lead was safe, you were never comfortable.

Sometimes watching modern NBA games I find myself thinking "Why didn't they just do *blank*. Jordan would've done *blank* and no one can stop it" but then I remember that Jordan was just built different. Makes me appreciate those highlights again as if I'm watching them for the first time

If you can watch this video, be as impressed as you are with Jordan, and recognize all of the things that you say that you recognize about how flawless his game was… and still say that lebron is better, how in the world is that possible? I can totally understand that lebron is your favorite player and you LIKE him better. Facts , all these years later and I know I do I go to RUclips to watch videos of the reign of Jordan and his bulls never will we witness a man do what he did and globally bring the NBA to knew heights. I read he contributed to more than 10bilion dollars to the economy in the years he played in the NBA and he's still the only athlete to still be bringing so much money to this entire world wow..

Man I was about 8-9 years old when Jordan came to the NBA. I watched his whole career. Saw it all. You’ll never understand how dope it was to watch this man play in real time. We even had WGN, the Chicago station all the way down here in Texas. I watched Jordan every night basically his whole career. I was able to watch his greatness the same way my dad watched Muhammad Ali and Jim Brown in the prime of their careers. It was a sight to behold.

I can honestly say after he hung it up I never was into basketball again. The magic was gone only memories remained.
Just an FYI. Jordan was interviewed and asked about why he switched hands against the lakers. He said he was worried about it being blocked from behind so he switched to avoid it. We see it as unnecessary but that man was just a league above everyone.
More specifically because Sam Perkins, who had REALLY long arms, was standing near him on his right side; he switched to the left hand to get it out of Perkins's reach

Yo you exactly right a lot of the moves that he did that he said were unnecessary in this video came from an offensive and defensive midset and just thinking what the defenders could've possibly done to prevent him from scoring.
It wasn't just that Jordan could do crazy, amazing things during a game to wow fans. It's that he did those things while ALSO being fundamentally sound at the same time. It's as if you combined Tim Duncan, Vince Carter and Kawhi into one player.
Jordan switched hands on the layup against the Lakers because he thought Sam Perkins was going to go up to challenge the layup on the right side, so he adjusted before Perkins could react. That was Jordan's greatest gift. Anticipating what defenders were going to do and adjusting to it in real time either BEFORE or while the defender are making their move. It's part of what made him such an unstoppabel scorer. If you really look closely at his highlights, he does it over and over and over again.

The memories this man gave me as a Michael Jordan fan as a young man brings me to tears watching this mixtape, I don't watch the NBA anymore because Jordan set the standard so high, in my opinion nobody will ever surpass it, the things he did on the basketball court were simply amazing.
The end of the video with young and old Jordan doing the same moves is incredible and you can see how his post game and footwork got more advanced as he got older.
Nobody in history of sports was more intense than MJ. Kobe learned EVERYTHING he knew from MJ. Kobe idolized MJ. Jordan put actual fear into Hall of Famers. Literal fear.

I still remember when Jordan retired the 1st time. Not kidding, it was like Superman died. Kids were crying. Lebron even said he cried when MJ retired the first time. There's not a single athlete that has ever been this revered or influential.
There's a narrative out there were people say "MJ quit twice". These people weren't there when it happened. Jordan already rocked the league and 3-peated, he had nothing left to prove, everyone already said he was the goat. His father was murdered.
But imagine leaving to play a completely different sport and then come back and win the NBA championship 3 more times? Not even the Warriors could 3-peat, nor did Lebron's Heat. If Lebron 3-peated in LA, I think he'd be a lot closer in the goat conversation, but this season alone proves that MJ will remain unmatched. And the 98 Bulls starting 5 were actually older than this year's Lakers HOF team.

The argument that Lebron is the goat is the same argument that the 2016 Warriors are the greatest team of all time. It could have been but its too late now.
I suppose its just proper context. If they say Lebron is the greatest point forward of all time or that the 2016 warriors are the greatest season team of all time, then maybe they can argue on that. But there is no argument on the GOAT and GTOAT considering the facts.
Bron's a really great player, but he couldn't accomplish what MJ accomplished in 11 1/2 full seasons of basketball...Bron gets the longevity stats, but he's not ever going to lead a team to 2 3-peats in 8 yrs, and he's not going to win 10 scoring titles nor play 8 years without losing more than 2 games in a row, and he's not going to win Defensive Player of the Year in the same season as winning the scoring title like MJ did....but Bron does have 3 titles with 3 different teams and went to the Finals 10 years in a row and he'll probably pass Kareem for most points scored in the NBA....celebrate greatness while you can because life's short, enjoy the show that these players are demonstrating on the court...great reaction video!

Think about it this way, plenty of Jordan's games in the 80s weren't even aired, we likely are missing at least 33% of the footage of MJ's career, who knows what he did in those games if this are his highlights in the remaining 67%.

I became a fan of the NBA when I was 12 years old. Jordan was in his prime and I watched every game I could of his. I loved the nba I thought. When he retired I lost interest. It was his play that captivated people. He did things no one else has ever been able to do. Every game was a highlight reel. Over the years I’ve tried to watch the new Jordan’s. Like lebron, Kobe, and others but no one can captivate me like Jordan. So I’ve realized I was never an NBA fan. I was a Jordan fan.

I've been an NBA fan since the mid 1970's and coached youth basketball for years. 2 of my 3 sons played competitive basketball through high school here in North Carolina. My middle son even attended camps with Stephon Curry attended that his dad, Dell Curry, sponsored here in the Charlotte area. My personal top 3 are: 1. Michael Jordan, 2. Larry Bird, 3. Magic Johnson. After the top 3, it’s more debatable to me. I’ve seen everyone over the last 45+ years. IMO, these players had the best BALANCE of FG%, FT%, clutch play, great offense, great defense, makes teammates better, great team play, shares the ball, passing ability, finishing, coachable, high basketball IQ, finds a way to win, has all areas of the basic fundamentals down pat, seeks high % shots first, knows where teammates are on the court at all times, able to score while being fouled, played against tougher competition, played against great defenses. No one today has ALL of these attributes. These 3 are the only players ever to not have any holes in their games at all. Not even Lebron can match this. He flops, gives up on defense and huddle, has choked in some key games, which brings down his value. To me, only Michael, Larry, and Magic had ALL of these attributes and are (by far) the most clutch players of all time. Consistently winning the close games is what separates icon players from everyone else. No players after my top 3 come close to doing it at the level they did. Though today's players have a lot of talent, most players lack most of these attributes and no one has all of them. Defense and team play aren’t nearly as good today as in the 80’s/90’s. Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, and Magic Johnson (by far) are the most clutch players of all time and did it against the best defenses of all time. Great video. You did a good job.
Magic can't be top 3 because his defense was ....meh.....Bird's defense was better and he was a far better shooter than Magic.....MJ was first and Kareem would still be up there at two for me.....he was just a better defender than those two and he battled HOF bigs in the era of the big man for 2 decades.
I gotta put Hakeem Olajuwon up there too. He had incredible footwork and played outstanding defense. (all time leader in blocks)
He also carried that rockets team to both championships.

I miss the era of the true center when every team just about had at least 2 or 3 legit big guys on their roster. Even some of the fours were massive. Otis Thorpe was another guy who has been forgotten.....that guy caught bodies all day and had some of the biggest hands I have ever seen. I saw a clip the other day of Kareem on the backside of his career battling it out with Hakeem and Sampson....we will probably never see it again sadly.
Keep this in mind..Jordan played against real shot blockers in a time where the paint was crowded with 7 footers, he was dunking on some of the greatest centers and big men in the history of the game....

Nobody struck more fear than Michael Jordan. I heard that when they did a scouting report on MJ, the report read "Good Luck" he has no weaknesses. He was fearless. A lot of his dunks was being contested by 2 or three defenders and against 7 footers. He never shy away from contact. The numbers speak for themselves.

Young guys watching Jordan highlights don't get why his fakes were so good and everyone is falling. It's because he was insanely quick. Like, almost Iverson-level, but dude was 6'6". A man that tall isn't supposed to move like that. Throw in that vert and he was by a defender, already jumping. He was impossibly good.

Jordan's fundamentals were amazing, I think he was the most fundamentally sound player in all aspects, from foot work, to team work (defensively, and offensively) for any superstar till even now. He had no weaknesses in his game. Unlike most superstars who tend to neglect aspects because their other aspects are far superior.

The thing about Jordan is that he isn't just the GOAT of basketball, he is the GOAT athlete. Whenever people described the best player in other sports, they would say " He is the Michael Jordan of (name sport)" He is one of the top 3 American sports figures of all time. Alongside Muhammad Ali and babe Ruth.
I'm 64 years old, born in 1957 and I saw when Michael Jordan came into the NBA from college and he came in fired up! He did himself right during his college years and gained experience for the NBA. By the time he entered the NBA, he stepped in to be in charge of whatever team he would start in. This was his attitude and his style of playing. Most of the time he just played and his scoring was an at-the-moment shot. He just charged in and deliver whatever came his way for scoring. I was born in the right era for the NBA and I just enjoyed the heck out of Michael's performance! He worked hard and at his level of playing you had to wake up really early in the morning to be able to play like him. There is no such thing as hang time, it's an optical illusion, he just had a great ability to jump at the highest for what was supposed to go in. There was no one like him and that is what made him one of the greatest of all time! Juan

One point is misleading though. He did not did it tight in college for staying. He did not have a choice. Nobody comes from high school or 1 year in college to the NBA back then.
The hang time is basically him releasing the ball when he is about to land after jumping very high, of course you have to factor in the great body control and those mitts

I grew up a huge MJ fan but I’m right around Lebron’s age, and until 2012ish I always preached Lebron was better because he was bigger, faster, and stronger. In the last 10 years I’ve come back to reality. The bigger, faster, stronger “greatest” argument is actually more pro Jordan. After Jordan’s retirement and Lebron’s televised high school game, for 10 years I changed my GOAT mind. I’ve realized I never should’ve wavered, he’s the GOAT and it’s not really that close. MJ accomplished more while being “smaller, slower, and weaker”.
When I was in grade and high school in the 80’s and 90’s, people that weren’t even basketball fans would purposely not make plans at night so they could watch Mike play. It was unreal

He was a beast of a scorer but his proudest achievement was defensive player of the year.
Bro I hated Jordan, I'm a Jazz fan, but I can tell you with honesty, sincerely, no player Ive ever seen even comes close to touching MJ, I mean that, I got no problem with Labron, I actually enjoy watching him, same with Kobe, I say Kobe is the closest thing to MJ Ive ever seen, and he's not even in the same conversation, Labron is built completely different, plays a completely different style, I often wonder why Kobe isn't discussed in this, but ultimately I don't see anyone ever being as good as MJ, it would take such a phenomenal player, and we just aren't seeing players as disciplined anymore, it's actually going the other way, but that single guy was the reason not only the Jazz but just about any team they played never got passed them in the finals, I don't think they were ever beaten, fucking frustrating.
What's crazier is that alot of these came after a steal
From the player who was the first player to get 100blocks and 200 steals and did it twice (only hakeem and scottie did it after)
And he captured the scoring titles at the same time

Watching MJ as a child was like watching a superhero...but what's crazy, is that I'm still just as amazed watching his highlights now as I was watching him play 30 years ago...and I think that's a true testament to MJ's greatness, no matter how many eras pass by, he'll still leave you in awe

Jordan kind of lead the way for todays NBA in that he proved teams don't need a dominant center to succeed, he started the small ball revolution, and teams today simply take it to an extreme.

Most of those Jordan clips I watched live as they happened. Hard to believe it's been that long. Like that crazy lay up against the Nets I watched on WGN in 1992-1993. I remember talking about it with friends the next day in school.

I got Lebron as my #8 in my all time top 10. I remember people who didn't even like basketball back then talking about Michael Jordan, everyone talking about how they were gonna watch the game to see what he'd do, I don't hear that same buzz today about Lebron. Not to mention they actually changed rules due to how good Jordan was, no rule changes for Lebron and Michael was Defensive Player of the Year and Scoring Champ in the same season.
I don't mean you specifically when I say this, but after watching a ton of these similar videos, I think a lot of people are mixing up "GOAT" with "My favorite player". When it comes to the ACTUAL GOAT; Jordan wins with really no contest.
