- I decided to quit drinking alcohol 10 months ago today. It was truly one of the best decisions I've ever made for myself...right up there with quitting cigarettes 8 years ago.
Update: I'm still alcohol free 5 years later!
Please subscribe and let's continue this alcohol-free life together.
Robyn
Well done! I’m on day 6 and struggling but your video is really encouraging!
Thanks for sharing your experience I have just hit 10 months sober and feel so proud of myself too - and the surprising thing is that I actually feel so much better physically and mentally, AND I am more confident and less socially anxious! I know what you mean about feeling smarter - it's like my brain is working as it's supposed to, rather than having to struggle to get over hangovers and fatigue. Thanks again for sharing your story! There is a pattern of alcohol abuse in my family and I feel like I have broken the chain by taking this step and that is fuelling me on ❤️
Thank you for sharing that with me! It's amazing how much clearer and "smarter" we are without that poison! Congratulations on 10 months! 🤪💪👍 Don't ever let your brain say to you, "Look how good you're doing! You've conquered this dragon. Now, you can have just one on NYE!" 👺👹😈☠️💀 That first drink is the biggest liar EVER!! Stay vigilant, my friend!! 💜
Congratulations! Alcohol consumption is fun, but the sober life is a better life. I’m 1 year, 13 days out from my quitting date. ❤
That's fabulous, Scott! Congratulations 🎉 It's made such a huge difference in my life. Stay vigilant, my friend. ❤️
Omg you sound just like me a 20 year bad habit of white wine drinking every night a bottle drunk texting waking up at 3am feeling horrible one time I woke up with chest pain and all sweaty that was my wake up call that alcohol was going to send me into an early grave! I too gave it up my stomach and chest pain was completely alleviated also my heart burn vanished I sleep so much better wake up refreshed... no idea why I ever drank all those years . Like you said just a really bad habit!!!
This is exactly how I felt before giving up the booze. Kept the Harley parked at home so I could get drunk and go to the garage to stare at it. Just a huge waste of time. I didn't know I could feel this good after 45 years of pumping in the poison. You are honest and very cool. Stay sober my friend, and I will do the same.
I've done the same thing and rode after drinking both are just stupid.
Another who used to ride, at night. 🏍️ + 🍺
I loved vodka and I never used to drink but I began drinking two years ago. It got to the point that I lost my house, car, children, my freedom, my temper, my savings in a 4 month period. I lost myself. DRUNK DRIVER myself...thank God I didn't kill myself or anyone. I finally got sick of it yesterday......so I'm ready to be sober forever. Wish me luck
Great video, Congratulations. I am now going on 9 months. I agree, it is such a great feeling. I was so tired of feeling like crap, I just couldn't do it anymore. It was the best decision ever.
Been free of alcohol for over 3 Years and travelling. more ...and enjoying feeling well ..keep going ..I'm proud of you're positive message..why would we do something That makes us sick
Thanks, John! Congrats on 3 years! I'm 6 1/2 years now. Never going back to that awful life.
Love your post. I’m only 6 days in but I’m going to keep going!
Really enjoyed your video. It's honest, intelligent and optimistic. Just a video tip though... don't set the IRIS or APERTURE on AUTO -- use a manual setting and try not to sit in front of a window.
So have you stuck with your no-drinking lifestyle? I am curious since this was shot a 10 months ago...
Also, I am currently about 5 weeks of no-drinking... never a daily drinker but wanted to take a break...
Hi. Still sober?
Beautiful...
Great video! Thanks for sharing and being so genuine.
I hit 10 months this week and my experiences parallel your’s in all ways. I too started for just one month and experienced feeling better, being more productive and losing weight. This led to month two, three up to now, month ten.
The first week was the hardest because the habit was so forged. Week two was easier and so on. I rarely miss or crave it and when I do, the feeling quickly passes.
Anyway, thank you again and I wish you the best.
This has been the most inspirational video I have seen!! Thank you so much for the motivation and I'm very happy for your success!!!
Proud of you for sharing!! Great job :)
What a fantastic message. I can't wait to be in the same place. Thanks.
Such a great video ❤ Just hit 1 year sober and have never felt better, quitting is the best thing i've ever done. Life is really beautiful 🎉
Emma, I am so happy for you! It truly IS the best thing you could have ever done for yourself. CONGRATULATIONS! 💃Please watch my other videos and consider subscribing. I haven't posted a video for awhile but plan on posting again soon. Stay vigilant and always know that first drink is the biggest liar EVER! Don't ever think that because you haven't drank in awhile that you can have "just one." Doesn't work and then you have to start over again. STAY VIGILANT! ♥🥰
@@RobynWingerter Thank you for your response 😁 i've subscribed and currently watching your other videos. Yes I agree about that "just one drink". I just don't make it an option anymore. I don't believe in moderation for myself, it makes it so much harder. When its simply not an option it's far more managable. It only took from my life and gave me nothing real. I value my health and happiness much more now, I see things more clearly and my decision making is done with such clarity. My circle is much smaller but I cherish the people in it. Feels good doesn't it 🙃
@@emmac7880 It has been a life game changer for me. I will celebrate 7 years this July 24 and when I first started this alcohol-free journey, I didn't know how I was going to make it even 1 DAY without my wine, but here it is 7 years later and I can honestly say I never think about alcohol ever. I am so proud of you. Moderation definitely doesn't work at all. You are going to be a true inspiration to others! Shine your light, girlfriend! 🤩
@@RobynWingerter 🌟 Its shining 🤩 keep shining yours too 🙃
Amazing 💕🙌 I hope you’re still going strong 💪
Im in NZ, The best I have been able to do is 7 days! well done you, hope you come back. Its so hard to fight yourself, I look forward to being able to say the same one day
Hey Campbell, 7 days is 7 days! It is a one-day-at-a-time game (sometimes one second at a time) so never give up. I tried to quit hundreds of times and it finally sunk in. You can do it, too!
@Hal Leanard Thank you, I agree re AA I have experienced meetings and I struggle with the focus on drinking and listing to the same things over and over. Peace to you Sir
@Hal Leanard Alcohol-free 5 years now and you're spot on!
True Story - I bought the book
Allen Carr's How to Control Alcohol....
Then I found someone had uploaded the audio to RUclips.
Here it is... ruclips.net/video/lsTLkZ71ANA/видео.html
Its 8 hours long so I listened to it in 1/2 hour segments.
After 30 plus years of self abuse I stopped drinking at the 2 hour mark.
I couldn't believe how easy to was….. there was no will power involved with the method.
I'm done with it.
And I did it BEFORE the book arrived!
@@dojufitz Wow thank you, I have the book but honestly ready page after page one falls asleep, I know that doesn't sound committed but its honest. Im going to try this audio, truly thank you for sharing
Thank you for sharing. I really understand
Monique, please watch the rest of my videos. I'm 5 1/2 years alcohol free now. I hope you are well. 🙏
@@RobynWingerter yes I will for sure 😊
I didn’t mean to hit the dislike button!
You nailed it for me. The only difference is my best friend was a 6.6 % IPA . The sleep deprivation and impaired driving , totally me!! I am on my second 30 day journey and have aspirations of making it to 90days and more. ROCK ON
I got to where I was drinking Merlot like that too, and it really is a miserable way to live looking back...Now when I smell it I gag, its like my body is yelling at me now, "don't drink that stupid!" My stomach is smarter than I am, and I'm glad for that.. :-)
Appreciate the older perspective of this. So many ´´kids´´ on youtube talking about quitting drinking. That is cool but I can´t relate. I, too was a WINE drinker. A few bottles a week, sometimes more. Mmmmm. Merlot. Malbec. Petit Syrah. If it was red, it went to the head! Never got in any trouble just tired of feeling like shit....and the body´s warning signs acting up.
I like the vibrational healing biz. I also run a weekly crystal singing bowl meditation in my shop, Crossroads in Shingle Springs Ca. Good vibes, clean chakras. I always felt like a fraud trying to teach meditation and the like while getting drunk on the regular. Fuck that noise! All senses clean, now.
Good luck and keep it going!
Thads good to here am happy for you am working on the samething. Thank you for talking about it.
I did it !
Hi love your video was wondering are you still sober? I want to stop so bad but it’s so hard .. I too am a wine drinker

Thank you for sharing .
You're welcome Sarah. Let me know if I can help in any way.
Nice. How's it going these days?
Omg so me that is crazy thanks for sharing
So many videos like this nowadays. Great for support, advice and inspiration. Sobriety takes work. Vigilance. Reminders that your disease is waiting for you to relapse.
It's like snakes and ladders. A drink can take you back to square 1.
Yes, one lapse in judgment is all it takes. Stay vigilant my friend!
Congratulations ma'am
