To me, Terry will always be the best successor to Bruce

Nah man, dick is the best successor
In terms of performing as Batman, Dick is a ‘better’ successor purely because of his combat and detective skills. There’s also the cyclical appeal of him taking on Damian as robin. BUT, in terms of character, Terry is a better successor because he wants the position. It’s an integral part of him because he needs to atone for his gangster days in the same way that Bruce made Batman to cope and prevent murder. The cowl means something special to him, so the appeal with him is that Batman continues to hold value and weight. Dick also obviously upholds the values of Batman but anyone knows his character knows that it wasn’t a wanted or ideal choice for him. He’s good as Nightwing- independent and impressive, especially in his tenure as the Titans leader (not sure the current continuity still has this anymore). Terry however, thrives as the newer Batman. Watching him is almost nostalgic because he does resemble Bruce, but he handles things differently, which makes him as exciting to watch as first Batman. (( I say all this but I personally loved Dick as Batman, regardless of if he wanted it or not.))

He takes deaths to much batman doesn’t he not as vicious as Bruce he doesn’t want to be a superhero forever While terry wants to do it because his farther unlike dick he caught his parents killer and Bruce never did witch is y Bruce still has anger and dick and terry copes with there parents death because they have people around to help them dick has Barbra Kory the titans Garth Donna Same thing with terry. He has Dana Melanie max Bruce his brother. Bruce has no one tho so he says because he’s a stubborn little shit he tends to push people away the only one he really cares and that made him happy was Selina and she felt him being happy took the batman out of him and without batman Gotham has nobody.
And DC tends to ignore Terry's existence -_-
Which is sad tho. I tend to relate with Terry better than Bruce.

@@BlackTrunksPodcast We didn’t have cable growing up. So the only cartoons I got to watch on the weekend were in Saturday & Sunday morning. Batman Beyond was one of those cartoons. My favorite Batman animation of all time.

It scared me as a kid. This version of joker freaked me out. As well as the scene where joker turns Robin into a mini joker. And him killing joker. I had nightmares for days.
As much as I loved Bruce as batman, I always related more to Terry. Lost his dad, rough upbringing, a bit mischievous but always aims to do the right thing, and stubborn. I loved Bruce but Terry and overall, Batman Beyond will have a special place in my heart.
Terry kinda is Dick Grayson 2.0 tbh.
bruce lost popularity with the saga of the villain who is reborn, and bruce tries "raj ragould "and later his daughter- to try and enable him to continue being batman. a noble pursuit but to cheat death? if he had access to the super soldier serum- he would be a ready volunteer. but this pursuit turns the character into a fantasy vs a gritty down to earth hero-which is much more relatable.

BATMAN BEYOND IS MY CHILDHOOD
I absolutely HATED that the DCAU made Terry a "son" of Bruce Wayne. I thought it was one of the most ludicrously convoluted things to create a totally unnecessary change to a character that was already successful.
By the way, does anyone know if Terry's little brother is also a "son" of Bruce Wayne? That was never addressed on the program. I wouldn't be surprised if the show runners totally forgot about Terry's brother.
I know it was so dumb and over the top but they did that to essentially wrap up the short lived series.

He’s both. They genetically replicated Bruce’s DNA through blood samples of injuries and wounds to recode his father’s genetic material to match Bruce’s precisely. If anything he is partially a clone of Bruce and also the product of him and Mary.

Honestly, I would love to see a versus with Nightwing going against Batman Beyond. I always thought that Dick Grayson was the best ally and Robin Bruce could have and that he would be Bruce's true successor and the next Batman, but Terry McGinnis, as Bruce's half clone, seems like he could and would also be a great candidate for the next Batman and/or Bruce's successor. I get that Dick doesn't want to be Batman, but if it happened, I wonder who would be the better Batman, Dick or Terry?

Its funny cause dick was never batman always robin then nightwing terry started as batman and fit the mold well I loved batman beyond and rewatching it as an adult is satisfying that it holds up so well
It's crazy how a kids cartoon from the 90's has more depth than pretty much anything spat out by Netflix

We need to see more interactions between Terry and the other past robins. Especially Damian. I understand why Terry couldn't go through the whole Robin phase but if I were any of the other past Robins I'd be a little salty this guy got the bat suit from the start, including a high tech version of it

What’s so rare about Batman beyond is that, it was never a comic book character in the first place before turning into one. Batman beyond was made by dc animated developer before comic book writers decided to put him in the comic book.

We can't talk about Justice Leauge, without talking about Dwayne McDuffie.
I do think it's important to include Dwayne McDuffie and Andrea Romano among the major creative minds of the DCAU.
Dwayne McDuffie was writer/editor/producer for 69 out of 91 episodes of Justice League, and co-created the Static character and wrote 11 episodes of his show.
Andrea Romano was voice director for the entire DCAU, and casting director for everything except Superman and The Zeta Project.
I was previously unaware of Alan Burnett, but I see now that he was a major writer/producer of pretty much everything prior to JLU.

Batman the animated series was my childhood! Every Saturday I was glued to TV set. Now I'm in my 30s and re-watched it and love the dark themes it deals with! Wish they release a blu ray box set!
