yesh sucks especially when starfire was the one who helped him become nightwing and less of a batman 2. 0. barbara was a retcon love interest.

This is blatant Starfire erasure smh
The Nightwing and Barbara relationship is nasty and petty it was built on retcons at Nightwing and Starfire's expense. Barbara was originally 7 years older than Dick and had no romantic connection to him when he and Starfire started dating for more than 10 years in the NTT comics. She was a congresswoman engaged to her coworker Jason Bard. Barbara was only retconned into his love interest and aged down after the Batoffice took Dick's character from Marv Wolfman (creator oF Nightwing and The Iconic Nightwing/Starfire relationship)
And destroyed The Nightwing and Starfire relationship, Retconned it into nothing but lust, make a lot of shtty comics that downplays and undermines their relationship in favor of making Barbara look better for Dick. The Batwriters even made Nightwing cheat on Starfire so they can portray Barbara as his one true love and put down Starfire which is ooc and an insult to his character who was always depicted as a loyal monogamous one woman type of man in the NTT comics. Nightwing loved Kory, They dated for more than a decade. He became a better person and char because of Her and The titans. but Batwriters has been doing anything they can to diminish their relationship and seperate them from each other in favor of boosting his relationship with barbara
Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon both work with Bruce Wayne Dick Grayson being his foster son and he and Barbara started their relationship while in school he met Starfire during the Teen Titans where Raven brought all of them together

Yeah he literally leapt into Nightwing's arms because of how happy he was to see him, and that is completely off for Damien as a whole.
Dicks short run at batman gave us some of the best Damian moments as Robin, period

I Love that Superman is More responsible for Nightwing being a hero than Batman. Batman trained him but Superman guides him. It reminds me of how Goku is Gohans biological dad but Piccolo is More responsible for Gohan being GREAT
Eh. Batman raised him since he was 8 as a superhero after his entire family died. Superman told him *one* bedtime story. Sure Superman is influential, but Batman is his dad. Even if he doesn't admit it himself.
@Luc Germain Yeah but the original poster said superman was more responsible for nightwing and guided him more than Batman which isnt true Imo. Not sure its relevant that nightwing eventually aspired to be more like superman
Batman raised him teaching him martial arts and science Superman was prominent role model for Dick Grayson and after Dick was fired from being Robin and also retired his Robin persona in the Teen Titans
Superman just gave him his name not raise him
Wouldn't say more reponsible since Bruce brought him in and raised him but Batman can be quite a jerk (especially in the 90's) and aloof and not have the best parenting skills but he really cares about Dick. So much that Dick is arguably the one he's the most proud of out of all Robins and the one he sees as leading the Justice League one day. Dick is also pretty friendly with the superhero community to the point the entire JSA helped him move to a new apartment so it makes sense that Bruce expects that he will go to do greater things.
Superman is more like the cool uncle. Dick looks up to him and seeks him for guidance and advice especially when he can't talk to Bruce for whatever reason. Supes doesn't see himself as his father or mentor, but as a friend. Even if Dick looks up to him Superman always treated him like an equal which is something Dick appreciates.
Which is why the Nightwing identity being inspired by both Batman and Superman seems pretty fitting.
I'd love to see an alternate reality where Grayson got the lantern ring.

I've got the 1988 comic where Nightwing actually teaches Jason Todd the ropes because he makes mistakes tracking down drug operations. Then after Jason Todd dies Dick Grayson takes up the Batman title with Tim Drake as Robin while Batman back is healing . Then Dick Grayson takes up the cowl a second time for Batman's biological son , because Dick Grayson has a history of being more patient and detailed information about being a wingman.

I just love how the rest of the JLA has great respect towards Nightwing treating him like an equal. I think the reason behind that is because they can always count on Nightwing if they need his help.

I was waiting for this one I have always been a huge Nightwing fan, he's my favorite DC character. I always find it interesting that he's considered the greatest HUMAN acrobat/gymnast in DC being the only person that can do a quadruple somersault. Which is how Tim Drake discovered his identity when he remembered that the Flying Graysons were the only family that was known to be able to do this feat

But for reals, Dick and Babs have so much history together, and their relationship before the Nu-52 was just so pure and, how do I put this... mature? Not just lust and passion, don't get me wrong I know that there are sweet moments with the NightStar ship too. But to me, the love between Dick and Babs just feels deeper than that between Dick and Kori.

Nightwing is awesome. His costume is what got me initially interested. Great design.
Sick Grayson is one of the best ever changing characters in comics he is a great character and still continues to change even to this day. Also he's the nicest guy in the Dc universe so he's got that as well.

Great video. Dick Grayson is one of the most relatable superheros out there. Reminds me a lot of Hawkeye in that respect. I particularly enjoy him as Batman. I'd love to see him takeover that mantle again.

I like Batman firing Nightwing because he gets scared after the joker shoots him better than getting fired because he wasn't giving his all as a sidekick. That should have been kept as the original story before it got retconned. I feel it gave more heart to Batman's character. Oh and Starfire is better than Barbara.

Nightwing is the best member of the batman family because he inherently has more narrative potential than anyone else including Bruce. Imagine batman if he was more charming, charismatic, brighter, better looking, and could be played as an underdog. That's the greatest idea for a superhero ever.
