Jazz-fusion band "The Aristocrats" (Marco Minnemann - drums, Guthrie Govan - guitar, and Bryan Beller - bass) gave three mesmerising concerts in Vladivostok and Nakhodka in December 2012. Their visit was supported by the U.S. Consulate General in Vladivostok, Primorye Regional Philharmonic Hall, music clubs Shiber and Cat'N Clover. The project took place under the auspices of the U.S.-Russia Bilateral Presidential Commission.
An American, an Englishman and a German playing in Russia and everybody is having a pretty damn good time. Let music rule the world and everybody will live in peace!
how would religious people say? AMEN BRO!!!
I came here for Guthrie, but stayed for Marco.
I would've stayed from Dream Theater if Marco had been chosen.
You´re so right! But M. Mangini is also a monster tho
Ahh man sounds like a messy night ;)
Marco was chosen. He turned it down.
Same here.
Any music. Any setting. Any speed. He can do it all, without missin' a beat.
Cookie Monster shirt from dream theater auditions!!!
+John Maconochie They're all probably watching this video and kicking themselves haha. Even though he doesn't fit in the band as well as Mike he's much more entertaining to watch. And that double kick! The strokes are so goddamn even! Most drummers playing double kick that fast would sound like marbles falling down stairs using a trigger or a pillow/vent mic combo and he sounds like this using a single 52 by itself in front of the vent?!
I flicking love Marco and mangini.
Yep. Great BY THEMSELVES.Put them in with real players in a band? Not so much.
Rather listen to Snow Plow!
Mistake of Dream Theater, great mistake...
Dear God what a talented trio capable of TOP HONORS of drums, bass and guitar across the globe!!! You just cannot deny that... The dexterity of Marco is insane!!! PROGRESSIVE JAZZ FUSION at its finest!! Kudos Aristocrats!!! I want to see more!!
Marco is seriously dynamic.
What he does just with the cymbals alone is fantabuloustic.
I play guitar and I should love Guthrie. Dont know why but I love Marco more. Best drummer everr!!!!
Guthrie has something that Satriani never will - Hair!!
@@UR_Right24 guthrie better
Satriani already planted his flag, Guthrie is still looking for his, and not to mention 20 years to late. Keeping it 💯
he used to in the 80's
Minneman and Govan are probably the best two musicians that ever formed a group..
I've never seen musicians seem like they have no idea what they're doing, yet simultaneously knowing EXACTLY what they're doing.
He the king of polyrhythms !! And sub dividing! With a sick amount of speed!! He beyond most drummers period!
Messieur Marco was just too bloody good and creative for DT.
He is just in his element here, at least it looks like that to me.
Stunning performance from all of the guys.
All three are insanely brilliant and the guitarist has the hair of a God.
This is on a musical level I have not EVER heard or processed before. And I'd like to think, like most of you, that I've heard my fair share of music in my life. Utterly mind boggling.
I've never heard so much shit in my life I would say.. don't know what you listened to mate :))))
14:23 that was fuckin insane.... 5/4 right hand, 4/4 rest. Marco is indeed a gifted drummer
It's only 1 limb doing independent stuff, he's way better than being able to have 1 limb independent
Not 4/4 and 5/4, those are time signatures. He's playing a 4:3 polyrhythm between his right foot and left hand, while his right hand goes from 2 to 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and finally 8.
But does it sound good? Not particularly haha
It's almost like having 2 drummers. Marco and Minne Man.
You've got to love the sheer amount of fun these three guys are having on stage
These guys are just playing for fun, and they fricking good at it. Everything they play have no set play, they play as they go. Amazing!
Saw this guys live, and Marco is just amazing. Not only what he plays, but the tone on every pice of the kit of his drums. It was completely perfect. It's difficult for me to remember a drummer with a better live tone than Marco.
One hell of a trio ! Odd time signatures, vicious solos and the incredible, incredible Marco !!!!!!
i enjoy the eye contact and fun they are having with each other. its refreshing to see humor lumped in with huge talent.
Ladies and Gents - let me introduce Mr Zlatan Ibrahimovic on bass guitar!
🤣🤣🤣👍🏼👍🏼
😲😲😲😁😁😁😁😁😁🎵🎼🎼🎶🎸
Umm really look like zlatan ibrahimovic😂🤣🤣
And the time traveling Ian Anderson on the six string electric lead guitar!
Glad he didn't get the Dream Theatre gig.... they would have locked him into a straight jacket of conformity... Marco growing/getting better all the time... :)
... actually staying the same. Blasting over EVERYTHING.
actually he did get the pick but he declined ....
@@andreasd2404 hahaahahahaahahaha
@@johndoe-rp3hz he kinda overplays sometimes
Excellent observation
It is impossible to get tired of this, theses musicians are amazing
Apart from being amazing musicians The Aristocrats have two ingredients sadly lacking from the vast majority of music out there today: imagination and a sense of humour!
Wonderful stuff :-)
I seem to smell Zappa :-)
00groove
It's probably your toast burning ;-)
Gatto Buono
Possibly, but it might also be the shredded sock filled with absolutely nothing at all.. :-)
00groove
that's so surreal man, far out ;-)
However, toast and sock comparisons aside, these guys are seriously amazing, no?
Gatto Buono
Although it's not really something I would put in a cd player very often, I do like watching these guys because of the obvious joy of playing.. and the humor.
I have seen them 4 times. They are so good live. their energy and chemistry onstage is remarkable. I was at the pre show when Gurhries guitar fell over and he said "Oh no" which they wrote a song about. Great guys!
It's almost impossibble to see Marco play whithout a smile in my face.
If only the hability was equally contagious as is happiness
Marco is such a musical yet technical drummer. Absolute monster.
Complete and total mastery
Marco = God tier talent.
Marco may very well be my favorite drummer and he is certainly one of the greatest. Even with the other greats, I'll venture few have the stamina and the consistency. Marco's phrasing is often playful and everyone young and old, skilled and unskilled can enjoy.
That cross sticking and fanning is off the charts period!!
These guys are really enjoying what they are doing. Happy musicians-happy listeners.
This sounds like rush on steroids, lol.. very talented band.. very talented!! Marco is one of, if not the best drummer on planet Earth.. period. His technique, and his flow of playing the drums is simply amazing and flawless as always.. he's a beast.. there's definitely noone out there that can hold a candle to him.. at all.. don't get me wrong, I love alot of other drummers out there as well, but Marco just kills that shit man.. he's so talented it's ridiculous.. so good..
agreed but thomas lang and virgil donati and even dave weckl are on par with MM
True aristocrats among the musicians at the highest level in the world.
Love the spontaneity in this band
Marco at drums is simply INSANE
NERVER SEEN A DRUMMER LIKE THAT ... INCREDIBLE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No doubt, they are of the best players of their respective instruments. I still miss composition skills. So many wonderful ideas put together without a direction or musical aim. It's kind of fun, but I'm always expecting something more to happen when I've listened to one of their songs.
The sound of the guitar at the begining is just...I have no words, that distortion...dude.
What I was waiting for.
I wast thinking: " Suprise me. "
You guys have it all !
You blow my mind!
I will definitely be looking for music of this drummer.
Vladivostok?! even my my wife says its in the middle of nowhere.. but the guys from DT. already had their minds set on mangini anyway. what an absolute monster on the drums. So glad i got to see him and beller and Satch last year
love the way they have fun and implement some humor in the music :) long time since I saw that ; must have been back in the time of Zappa !:)
Nice trio...and awesome Marco Minnemann
Great audience! I love how they're immersed and they don't clap and shout during the drum solo.
Supergroup,Brilliant performance!greetings from KK Sabah,Malaysia🇲🇾🇲🇾👍👍🤘🏼🤘🏻👊👍🇲🇾🇲🇾
His drumming is full of joy and inspiration. I love it.
Adoro questo jazzrocckato
INCREDIBLE!!! I love this band. And Marco...Marco...MARCOOOOOOOOOO!!! You crazy skilled machine ;) 4:41-4:44 with the twirling of the sticks omg. And 8:57-10:53 - its like he's talking to his drums ;) I love it!!! He should be on the top 5 drummers of the world. So much soul, passion and joy. Marco Minnemann rules. The end :)
Extreme technique and musicality. Rare.
That drums solo, that's the definition of having fun!!!!
Marco, Thomas Lang, Jojo Mayer, Donati, and handful of others on Earth have this level of ability. It is staggering to behold.
Benny Greb is in those handful of drummers as well!
zlatan Ibrahimovic on bass! :D :D
+DRUMISTAAKO Vero!!
+DRUMISTAAKO vlad the impaler
Who is that?
hahahahhahahahahhaha, true!
And Jesus on guitar
That drum solo had to been on a level I’ve never heard before wtf wow
Marco Minnemann is awesome! Those drums sounded amazing as well.
Marco is jst way too fab❤️🔥
This is exactly why Minneman should not have been in Dream Theater
Actually I think Mangini wanted the job way more than Minneman did.
i agree im a big DT fan Mangini is good Minneman is better but Portnoy gots it all
@@raysmith8332 don't be dumb, Marco can beat every drummer in the world.
His drumming skill is higher than them all
your being dumb
@@norpriest521
@@raysmith8332 Quite the contraire. *YOU'RE 😂🤣
Grande banda! Marco, um baterista com alma, muito musical, entusiasmante!
That was so beautiful progression..... 👌👌👌
If that didn't get him into dream theater I don't know what will.. He's amazing!
Marco is just plain amazing
marco minnemann com certeza é um dos melhores bateras do mundo e um dos primeiros
o cara é muito insano .
There's something Zappa-esque over this. I love it!
It's funny how you say that because I've never really been able to get into Zappas music. Although many people cite him as being a "musical genius", I find his music to lack feeling. Which has always been the main reason I think I never really got into it. Plus I find it almost amazing that he managed to make such a variety of music while lacking feeling or emotion so consistently. Basically, music is typically rather "emotionally" driven in an authentic way. But somehow with Zappas music it's almost nonexistent to me personally. Aside from a few songs or sometimes just a section here and there. But in general I don't come across people who really compliment Franks "feel" or anything like that. Usually people just resort to how his music was technically impressive. Which to me, is a completely differnt aspect. You've got the technical elements of music. (Which could be considered objective in many ways) Then you've got the artistic side of it. (Which is more subjective) An all I'm saying is although Zappas music is technically interesting, it's not very artistic. I think his lack of feel reflects his basic personality. In otherwords, his regular in-person demeanor was fairly dull, monotoned an absent of much expression. To me, this goes over into his music as well. Then as a guitar player I never heard any licks or techniques Frank utilized and wanted to learn or practice that particular technique. Just not my style. But in terms of sheer technique, I can respect some of it. But his music has very little artistic value to me. However, I will say I love his guitar playing on Watermelon in Easter hay. It's literally his only song that I really thoroughly enjoy through-and-through. I'm amazed that he played such a beautiful song but doesn't have anything that comes close in my opinion artistically. An I grew up with family who are die-hard Zappa fans. So it's not like I've only heard a song or two. I even own a few albums still to this day despite not being a real big fan. I've actually seen Zappa plays Zappa years ago. An it was an okay show. But I was really only there because I'm a huge Steve Vai fan. Which I know is rather ironic considering Steves relationship an influence from Frank. But it's the truth. Franks music is more so a technical feat rather than an artistic one. Equivalent to how we don't really consider someone who's a professional marksman to be an artist. Yes, it's a skill, but it's not an artistic expression. That's pretty much how I see Frank Zappa.

My comment to this vide was because it certainly fall into the vein of what FZ would call "meltdown" as can be heard on 'The Jazz Discharge Party Hats' and 'The Dangerous Kitchen' on TMFU except in this video there are no vocals. It also reminds me of some other pieces here and there, hence "Zappa-esque". Then again you could just call the music in this video "Polski Freejazz". =)
I can agree to some degree with you, the feeling in his music comes from the unique musicians he hired while his songwriting was at times extremely challenging technically and could be considered as "dry". As for the artistic expression, I think some of FZ's music certainly are one of the more artsy out there. While I love Zappas music I certainly don't appreciate ALL of his music.
BTW, I'm a drummer myself.
Great compositions, fantastic players, love the interaction, such a cool vibe between these guys.
Great Musicians!!!
What an inspiration. These guys are phenomenal. Thank you for your Rock.
À la fois très original et talentueux, ce trio est magique, je le découvre avec un immense plaisir, merci à vous 3, chapeau !
It's always so captivating and impressive to see Marco play. Such technique and such mastery leaves you speechless
They're absolutly crazy these people no?
infinity of pleasure comic music is well so good trip!
Well that was a pleasant random algorithm suggestion. As much as I want to go on about the playing, the tone of his drums is SO GOOD!
Non-musicians have no idea on how difficult this technical piece really is.
Какая аутентичная сцена! Люди во Владике постарались) Молодцы!
Saw them in Tamp this month....words fail to describe how amazing they were and Marco is off the chain!
Wow! That’s crazy interstellar playing. Completely out of this world. Seriously. OMG?! 🥁😮🥁🤩👍🏼
Muito Criativo. Bateria (entre outros instrumentos) não é só velocidade... Marco consegue transmitir tudo o que faz em seu instrumento.
Amazing talents!!
Marco Minnemann mostruoso!!
All the odd time signatures . Him an Zappa would have love playing togather
No se como llegue hasta aca...., la cosa es que llegué!. La verdad esto es maravilloso!!!. Primera vez que veo y escucho algo tan entretenido y serio a la vez, jugadores de élite!!!!
marco, no words for you! MONSTER
Monstruosos!!!
Marco Minnemann is the best drummer alive, change my mind.
Best trio.👌
This drumer is a number one of the world, greaaat
this trio is basically, "what if all the prodigies of the current times are in one band?"
Three extraordinary musicians.
I LOVE IT MR.MARCO !
Mark is a great fool !!
C'est incroyable ce que fais Marco....
I guess you are right. And this must also be the reason why I feel how I feel. I really do enjoy bits of it a great deal.
Excellent. And very well recorded. The drums sounds are great.
Oooh love it! ❤️ reminds me of John Zorn, great, thanks for posting🕺🏼😁
Not my style of music, but I can watch / listen to these guys all day
That's means it's your style, pal.
I passed out during Marco's solo. What happened?!?!
So did I.. seriously!
I must say that I love how calmly people are responding to the most disliked comment in this section; this may be the most civil corner of RUclips that I've ever stumbled across.
I'm going to see them in August and I'm so excited!
Perfect THREE.....Drummer is really awesome
Amazing work.
Marco's sound will never be better than his Live in LA VHS
Marco Minnemann stole the show
Marco, Guthrie and Bryan talk in between songs. That's what those mics are for.
Шедеврально!
The best of the best!!!!
Oh my God it's a wonderful triooooooooooooo!!!!!
