Went to the G3 concert with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and Guthrie Govan in Cologne and could not believe it. Govan went on stage without any Rockstar behaviour. Just a shy guy, pushing the limits to the next level, having fun! The Aristocrats concert last Nov was one of the best things I ever spent money for.

I'm a huge DT fan and they are my favourite band, but I have to admit Guthrie would kick Petrucci's ass at most comparisons, even though both are amazing in their own ways.

You may not believe it, but this song is actually originally written and performed by JUST Marco (drummer). Yes, he played the guitar, bass, and drums on it. He sings and plays keyboard on his own music, as well.
Of course, this version is way better.

Good thing they are only a trio. Its already too hard to distribute my praise and awe evenly among those three guys. :)
Also, i like guthries overdriven sound much more here than on the album. Like the single note riff from 5:50 on, sound f**** badass but not too compressed.

Does anyone know why Guthrie is using the So Cal instead of his signature model for this song? In the beginning Marco mentions they hadn't been playing it live since they didn't have the right guitar. Wondering what the So Cal brings to this song what his souped up signature couldn't. Double locking floyd for the vibrato work perhaps?
