Marco is one of the best. Saw him live with these guys in a small club in Iceland. Sat about 2 meters from the band. One of the most mind blowing gigs of my life. Chatted with Guthrie and Marco after the gig. Super nice dudes.

You absolutely need to check out his performance on Luminol by Steven Wilson, keeping in mind the fact that according to Wilson, Marco recorded the drum part and got it back to him in about 30 minutes because he had plans later that night.

I saw Marco Minneman play with Necrophagist about 15 years ago, one of the best live drum performances I've ever seen.
All three of these guys are among the best in the world. I highly suggest listening to more.
Also, fun fact, Marco used to drum for famed tech-death metal band, Necrophagist. He has a very wide array of musical influences.
Hard to listen to anything else though, when Guthrie Govan performs. One of my favourite guitarists ever. Looks like Jesus, plays like god haha! And Marco interacts so brilliantly with him...Three world-class musicians "talk" to each other. Wanna see your face melt? Watch Blues Fuckers from them. It has an un-earthly solo from Marco!
Beller and Minneman are virtuosos and you barely notice them when Guthrie leads.

Saw them in January 2020. The last meaningful thing I did before lockdown. I was about 20ft away from Guthrie. My jaw spent the entire gig on the floor. Absolutely incredible band.

Marco is one of my favorite drummers, both because his polyrhythms are INSANE, and also because he always seems to be having so much fun - kinda like the Angus Young of drums!
You should take a look at some of Steven Wilson's live performances in which Marco took part. Great stuff!

This is what we (my music friends, when we were young [I'm talking eighties ;)]) used to call a super band: Each band member is a virtuoso and in high demand for his/her skills.
Attended an Aristrocrats concert just a few months ago (Netherlands) with a guitar playing friend. He looked at Guthrie an I was in awe of Marco.
We had a great evening!

How awesome is this 3 for 1 reaction. This entire concert is on the Tube. Marco is so talented and a pleasure to watch. Another drummer that has unlimited headroom. He has it all.

Seeing them live is def a blast. It's like Frank Zappa humour, creative fun and interaction with the audience. You get more than just the music, they are also pretty cool to just talk to after the show! =)
I know this is a drum channel but I can never not mention that guthrie govan is the closest we'll ever get to a real guitar wizard.
Finally you got to see Govan who is one of the best guitarists alive and Marco who is absolutely crazy. Great stuff. And they do play together A LOT
Saw their show in 2019, it was one if the most mind blowing one I've ever seen, and I did see quite a lot. :)
They can play whatever they want. Jazz? Done. Metal? Done. Fusion? Done. And I didn't laugh this much on any concert ever :D

I saw The Aristocrats live about 2 years ago, they were phenomenal live. They are absolutely musicians musicians. All are at the top of their game.
Excellent! I hope you’ve found a new guitarist, too. What I love about both Guthrie and Marco is that for shredders they have impeccable musicality and also exude joy! Not a pretentious bone in their bodies. Check out Marco with Mohini Dey for some real polyrhythmic fun. There’s a video of them doing Konnakol in a studio-it’s short but would be fun and instructive for your viewers.

Niel Peart is my all-time favorite drummer, but right now my favorite drummer is Marco. I met him once at a drum clinic and he’s so down-to-earth and humble. But he can play ANYTHING. Wait till you see any of his solos. Breathtaking. 🥁

Marco Minnemann in Mendoza or in Alatri are more than impressive. There he is a bit younger.
I found The Aristocrats from a suggestion and now I own sooo many of their albums. Just so much epic stuff from this trio, and just as I got back into upgrading my sound system. Masterful!
Marco Minnemann was on the final shortlist with Peter Wildoer and Mike Mangini when Dream Theater searched replacement for Mike Portnoy who left the band. According to interview, which has been available on tube, he eventually declined wanting rather to pursue the career of his own, also writing material. They set on Mike Mangini who is the current drummer for DT. Minnemann has also played in Steven Wilson's band.
Hey. Drummer here. Im always listening to the drums most, on pretty much anything that has drums in it. I barely noticed it here, the gitarist stole the whole damn show/jam. And thats saying something when its Marco, lol

I remember first hearing a drummer-friend of mine tell me about Marco Minnemann... I said... "Wait - not the guy from H-Blockx, right?"... but yes, the guy from H-Blockx can play four different time-signatures at the same time if he wants, and do it with flow and groove... whodathunk. I remember a video where he just grooved over the speaking-rhythm from various simpsons snippets... "My stomach's full of vomiting butterflies"... go find it - it's awesome :D

I saw these guys live. My back was on fire from a car accident I was in but the amount of awesomeness I was witnessing had me on my feet the entire time! Amazing live show! If you can’t make it to a show, definitely recommend grabbing their live album.

@@AndrewRooneyDrums Totally. You nailed their dynamic perfectly too, in the sense that they just like having musical conversations. They've been around 10 years now and have toured relentlessly. I've seen them twice now, and the individual musicianship is obviously stunning, but the telepathy they've developed between them is almost supernatural.

You ought to check out the Aristocrats doing Blues fuckers in Mexico culture clash, the drumming is absolutely insane its best video for showing how good his drumming is!
Marco is astounding, and the sheer joy in his playing is beautiful. Any Aristocrats stuff is worth looking at, and for sheer ridiculous chops on eleven, you might want to look at him doing Dance of Eternity. (He auditioned for Dream Theater.) The Aristocrats play _long_ sets, and they're always this good.

Although you get to see Marco (and a host of other masters) play, the “audition” videos for D.T. are p.r. stunts with a pre-determined outcome. Mike Mangini already had the gig!

The best part is that this performance is still a relatively tame version for The Aristocrats. So much technicality, humour, joy in playing and musicianship in this band. I haven't seen any other band with this much skill being as casual as they are, doing squeaky animal jams in their live shows. Edit: The band formed by accident basically, after Greg Howe (who was supposed to play a NAMM gig with Marco and Bryan) had to cancel last minute, and recommended Guthrie as a replacement.

Aristocrats was one of the last concerts I got to see before the pandemic. And it was amazing
Marco plays on a piece by Paul Gilbert and Space Ship One called Jackhammer. A stellar example of a super talented and brilliantly enthusiastic drummer! Must be viewed regardless of personal or professional motive.
DT should have chosen Marco back in the day (Mike is fantastic, but Marco just has so much FEEL and skill).
They are similar for me. Even look a bit similar
I heard/read somewhere Marco was their first pick, but the exclusivity deal that came with it where to restricted for him. And now we have both: decent DT drummer AND Aristocrates 😃
I think that Marco would not have fit the character of the rest of the band at all, he seems to take life much more easier. Of course for DT it would have been a great win situation in my opinion.

I saw Marco do a clinic/concert with Terry Bozzio and Chad Wackerman quite a while ago. Some pretty insane drumming. I also saw Marco demonstrate what he did as a warm up exercise on a video. He played eighth notes on the hi-hat, eighth note triplets on the kick, sikteenth notes with his left hand on the snare and sixteenth note quintuplets with his right hand on a tom. Unbelievable independence and polyrhythm control. I later saw him on Drumeo showing his mastery of really odd polyrhythms; crazy stuff like 19 over seven over who knows what. He's truly a super-drummer, up there with the greats and yet he projects the image of being just an average joe. Add his quirky sense of humour and you wind up with a really fun drumming experience.
I saw these guys in Chicago. About 10 feet from the stage. Mind-numbingly great musicians. Marco is my favorite drummer and brings such joy and creativity to his playing. Guthrie is seriously from another universe. Interestingly, their bassist, Bryan Beller toured with the "band" Dethklok, the extreme metal band from the Cartoon Network's show "Metalocalypse". Lol. Talk about versatile, these guys can play anything.

Hard to believe you’ve never seen Marco’s drumming before as he’s top of the food chain as far as drummers go along with Jo Jo Mayer and Steve Gadd. His level of interdependence is second to none.

He is an absolute monster and such a nice guy too. I got spend some time with him after a clinic. Check out his 5 against 9 against 12 video if you just want to be awestruck at what his mind can manage.

I was lucky enough to see him play the modern drummer drum festival in 1998 i think.. im pretty sure it was his 1st performance in the US for the album "the green mindbomb".. i still have the cd from the show... everyone would gather outside before they let us in the schoo. He was the opening feature . He was warming up and everyone outside just shooshed and stood quietly lookin at the auditorium wall like "wtf or who the f is THAT warmun up?!?!?" Lol.. all i know is he played the opening track "streets" off that album and not a damn person was ready for it!! Hahaha

I highly recommend Desert Tornado by the Aristocrats. It's a song they, admittedly, rarely play live but there's one specific video on RUclips of them doing it live and it's crazy.
Hey Andrew. I used to live in New Zealand. I lived in Belmont and Takapuna over the course of two years. I also visited Christchurch in the South Island and Stewart Island. You should do a reaction to three Alex Van Halen performances.
1) "Mean Street" from Fair Warning.
2) "Outta Love Again" from Van Halen II.
3) "Girl Gone Bad" from 1984
Marco minneman does have a tendency to rush. By that i dont mean rush the tempo but play fills that land fractions before the one or behind it giving you that sensation of rushing.
This is why Marco is one of the best!!
