    Let’s assume the ‘68 binder has 300 cards, including mostly commons and some stars, no Ryan, no Bench. You can see there aren’t enough pages for a complete set. Plus the 2 Mantles, the 1 Aaron, and let’s say 10 more $50 cards as a way to estimate the other star singles. I’d pay $150 for the ‘68s binder, $100 each Mantle, generously $50 for the Aaron, and $250 for the ten other $50 cards. If I’m Ty, I’m also not paying for the 80’s sets, because I don’t want a binder full of unsellable cards just to sell the key rookies. The complete sets are not easy to sell or ship. Definitely don’t want to pay for the later sets. I don’t know what the Batman cards are worth-let’s say we’ll pay $50. That’s $700. So $600 seems like a decent offer to me. Certainly not a “scam.” Whether you characterize reselling as “fun” or a “grind” or somewhere in between, it’s still time out of a person’s life, and that’s why a seller like this would consider selling in bulk. More power to him if he can take the collection to a local card shop and get more than $600.

    ccb is a reseller, ofcourse he would lowball the lot. i always say these to people asking me how to move their collections - go the singles route not the lot route. if you dont have time to sort and sell your cards, then look for someone who can that you trust and consign the cards to him or to them. it also depends on what cards you have. in this specific instance, these cards are better sold one by one - except the junk wax stuff ofcourse. resellers would often downplay everything.

    Sounds like many here with similar collections just got a serious reality check and caught some personal feelings... You forget that this is a business, and a bunch of that stuff ain't worth the time or the investment for a seller and that's just how it is... This is not a private sale from one collector to another.... It's time consuming to sell everything to begin with, you have to calculate in the high fees on eBay, the grading costs and then there's the traveling expenses on top Ty has to account for as well. Ty, let me defend you against the comments from these so-called experts. It's a fair price. You didnt have to give him an offer, I wouldnt have. I didnt see one graded card in the whole lot. There is also junk wax in here. The only cards in binders worth any value are the 68, 81 and 82 Topps. We dont know if there was a Ryan rookie card and what condition it is in. Im guessing he didnt have one or it would be slabbed like the Mantle. Remember people, this is a down market, and you're not getting covid prices. For all the ignorant trolls out there remember, there is a significant amount of hours needed to sort, assess the condition, list cards for sale and then ship. All those hours cost money. And there's no guarantee the cards will move quickly and could be sitting on ebay for awhile. All of you must have bionic eyes to be able to see the condition of these cards on video.

    Definitely a low ball offer as usual, but what does anyone expect? Of course he's going tobtey to buy for the lowest amount possible. He has said this many times in the past and its just a given in these videos. Of course the collections are worth more and the offers should be higher, but thats just not how TY rolls. He knows that if these collections were pieced out and sold by the seller, that he would get much more, but he also knows that they wouldnt hav3 called him to buy if the seller wanted to go through the whole process needed to sell everything pieced out. So thats where the lowball offers come in. He knows they want to get rid of everything so he tries to take a business advantage. Notice how he always says, "you probably can get more if you pieced it out" knowing dam well they dont want to do that. So he low balls and most have no choice but to accept because hes there and they would rather just be done with it. Luckily there are a few that dont fall for that and those are the deals that dont get done and TY calls those "emotional attachment" sellers. No I dont think thats it TY, I think its just people that dont want to get bent over by you and your crappy low ball offer that you know you will make alot more on once you grade and sell. And before you ask, I think the offer should have been around $1500 to be fair. Most of your offers are honeatly insulting and thats why you get so many people on here telling you so

    • @CHASINGCARDBOARD
      @CHASINGCARDBOARD  15 дней назад

      Most of Tys offers he is considering the work and time to resell. Which is exactly why the sellers don’t want to put that work in. Consider the costs it took for us to get to this location. We have to cover gas, lodging, rentals, food… oh then let’s add in the video production costs to produce this show. Yeah, we’re not paying eBay prices. This is a show that costs thousands per episode and also a business. Sorry you disagree with our process, but we have to be fair to our budgets and our families lively hood.

    Anyone suggesting this was a "scam" offer doesn't know what they're talking about, with all due respect. Even if Ty's assessment was on the low side (and that's a big "if") this is a collection that would take a lonnnng time to sell, assuming he could even sell all of it. From a business stand point, his offer made complete sense. He put absolutely no pressure on the seller to take his offer and actually suggested alternative avenues to move the cards. And for anyone who's watched Chasing Cardboard with any regularity, knows Ty has always been fair any has gone above & beyond on many occasions.

    I am truly astounded at the number of people in the comments criticizing Ty for offering such a low amount. It is not like he has a gun to the seller's head and forcing him to accept his offer! Ty made an honest offer, and the guy refused. End of story. Travel and production costs $$$, and 99% of these cards were junk. There has to be some kind of profit involved to make it worth it, and in this case there was very little upside.

      The problem is, that guy selling obviously didn't know much about it and seemed to be looking for an assessment of his deceased father's collection, which he did not get. Honesty is a virtue. Flipping cards is not. And low-balling people to flip their shit is a scummy lifestyle anyway. That's my opinion. Glad the dude turned down the offer. I would have done the same. Most everybody would have done the same.

  • @zyourzgrandzmaz

    This dude is painful to watch. The way he handles cards and scams (or tries to scam) everyone Hes also extremely uneducated somehow on cards. The 1966 topps batman cards are worth like $900 EACH. And he offered $600 for everything. 1988 fleer which i saw there, can have cards worth $3,000 in it.
    So 1 of the batman cards pays for the $600 and a single fleer card wouldve given $2k profit.
    Absolute scumbag behavior and i wont be back to this channel to watch a spoiled moron scam people.

Call yourself chasing cardboard but you dont buy hockey like you dont have not one video. I would love to see videos like what you do buy for hockey.

    • @bleedingblue7854
      @bleedingblue7854 16 дней назад

      Chasing Cardboard came to to the Toronto Expo and bought some hockey. The reality is, finding hockey card collections in the US is probably like finding a needle in a haystack. And paying 80% for lower end stuff is very generous since the margins are so small.

    • @dustinp5299
      @dustinp5299 16 дней назад

      That's not realistic. Sure, dealers at card shows will sometimes buy higher end, easily sellable singles at 80 percent and make a small profit on a quick flip. But nobody's paying 80 percent for a collection with a bunch of lower end cards + lots of work to be done.
