Leaving the black tank valve open while flushing is wrong, you won’t get rid of the solids or toilet paper. Proper flush is valve closed while filling tank through the black tank flush. Fill black tank 1/2 to 3/4 full then turn flush water off. Now open black tank valve be amazed at what will flush out. You should repeat this until your tanks run clean. Now fill your black tank with 3 to five gallons of water before you disconnect the black tank flush, add your treatment and your done
Hey Juan, put the treatment in with a gallon or two of water into the tank when it is empty. I usually empty my tank and then put in two gallons of water and the treatment.
Just bought a used rv. Never owned one before and am a bit clueless. I'm using the rv in the backyard while my new house is being renovated. We have a bathroom in the home where I will go number 2. However, I would like to use my rv toilet for the middle of the night number 1s. Can I empty my black tank into a bucket and flush the waste down our normal toilet? I don't know where our public sewer is, so I don't have anywhere else to pump my black tank into.

That is correct, also most rvs have a sensor to show how full different tanks are, if yours doesn't then just let the freshwater tank fill till water comes out of a overflow valve which for us in near our front door.
… I agree. I watched a few RV RUclipsrs on toilet paper (but w/sanitation dissolve wastes products). The Scott RV tissue doesn’t break down (dissolves) like it should. Two brands of toilet paper actually breaks down (both from Walmart). Great Value & “Bathroom Tissue” (no brand name). I use GV & no issues (but I NEVER use large wods of toilet paper - try to prevent clogging).

Find your outside clean out. If you can back your rv up to it you can use it to dump your tanks
So being hooked up and just leaving the black tank open is a bad thing ?
Not recommended. Consider the gases/ smells back flowing and also potentially insects/flies.
