Have lived in Saugus all my life, still can't understand how you can get a 3-way beef on every corner of the North Shore and nowhere else in the state let alone the country
I feel the same way about a good hot dog and sauerkraut coming from NY/NJ metro area and moving to Maine. They are clueless up here about what sauerkraut even is, and you can't get a good hot dog anywhere.

Infantry Vet here. Grew up on the North Shore. You have no idea how many times i'd dream about a super beef in downtime moments. When things got really bad, I added an imaginary pizza roll too! Kings on North St. in Salem was my first stop every time i got back home. Nothing else in the world compares to a Super Beef 3 way. 👍🏻
I’m from South Carolina. Was visiting a college buddy in Boston and we decided to drive to the north shore because I always wanted to try Nick’s roast beef (he would always talk about it). Ended up being the best sandwich I’ve ever eaten. I dream about that freakin sandwich. Would do anything for another north shore beef!
As a North Shore guy in NC now you can't go wrong with Nick's.. The Carolinas own Pork BBQ tho!
I’m in Charleston and own Bessinger’s BBQ. We always did pit beef and went away from it because everyone thinks Brisket is the deal. I regret it and have been thinking of bringing the pit beef back…..but, hmmmmm, how can I do something different. Then boom this pops up
I grew up down the street from Nick’s and can still get there in 25 minutes. I still dream about the beefs like you haha. Never gets old.

I'm over 60, born & lived in Boston & "No. Shore" .. I never heard of "North Shore Beefs" (wasn't a thing) until RUclips .. Always called them "Roast Beef Sandwich" (like everybody else) .. Ordered em' in Boston, Sommerville (Mike's), So. Shore, all over MA & NH .. Wasn't a "North Shore (only) thing" In my exp, & default (norm) was "Soupa, Sauce & Cheese" (Onion rolls came later) .. I loved Billy's Roast Beef (sorry about the bro, didn't know) .. I'm loving Hap's in Portsmouth, NH ..
I love it when the roast beef is warm too and the cheese is just melting. I get them from Danvers, Salem and Beverly Ma. My dad told me he used to get this as a kid and I realize he’s almost 60 and when he told me that I was awed. I’m on a keto diet so I’ve been making them from home in Raleigh NC with keto wraps instead but man they are such a treat

The North Shore roast beef tradition is such an interesting little local phenomenon. I grew up in Norfolk county and had never seen all these roast beef stops until living in the area as an adult
I started eating @ Riley's Roast Beef in Lawrence,
some of the guys left there and started Harrison's in North Andover.

I made the voyage from Worcester MA. to Zeno's Roast Beef in Ipswich MA. today. It was so worth the 3 hour round trip. It was the best Roast Beef sandwich I've ever had. Really!
My only complaint was that Andy Ferg, Dan Robertson, BP Hammers, and Dan "Beefy Smalls" Gillis were not there telling me to "Go Fuck Myself." This really would have made the trip and experience pure silver and gold for me on top of such a delicious sandwich!
I live in NH, but for a while I drove a truck into the mass every day for work. One day I didn’t bring lunch, and ended up at Nick’s in Beverly. Fucking kickstarted my love for beefs!
Gotta check out Greenland Famous Roast Beef on RT 33 going into Portsmouth, it's quality north shore beef.

When I lived in Beverly I always went to Nick's ( 7th grade- 12th) I tried others but Nuck's was the best but never got a 3 way. I always got a Superbeef sauce & cheese. What amazed me was they just yelled the orders never wrote anything down and never messed up an order. The shortest line I ever saw was probably 60 people, was in & out in under 10 minutes.

I moved from the Northshore to Scotland 17 years ago, and a real roast beef sandwich is an absolute must on every visit back.
When my parents retired to Florida my Dad would always ask me to stop at Kelly's on my way to the airport and get him a Kelly's Roast Beef. I always had a Kelly's RB in my carry on bag for my Dad.
Problem is that the roast beef has not been rare the last three times I went. They are done!
@@drisclaw I have a great Roast Beef place very close to where I live and my Dad has passed away so I have no reason to go to Kellys now. It's to bad that they aren't as good as they use to be.

My wife is from here. We always get seafood and of course roast beefs when we visit. Wish I could find them like this locally too. I like my Chicago style Italian beefs, but these are a real treat. Have to do my best trying to make them myself. Cheers.
Rusty Can in Newbury/Byfield is doin' a wicked killah smoked ribeye 3-way. Worth the trip. I'm going to hold a blind taste test at my house, a battle between Modern Butcher (Newburyport/Danvers) and Rusty Can....it's gonna be epic. Cheers.

I remember crossing the Longfellow Bridge from Cambridge years ago, to get to Buzzy's right there in Leverett Circle. How North Shore was that, on a scale from 1 to GFY?
We drove from Somerville to Revere every week to eat at Kellys. My top roast beef place will always be Mikes Roast Beef in Everett. The Super 3Way with seasoned fries and cheddar dipping sauce is the best! Shout out to Bedford House of Beef.

Nicks for life! I grew up on North Shore family ended up moving to New Haven CT. When we go back up to home after a two and a half-hour drive my brother and myself stop at nicks first drop 💯 plus get a few supers with sauce a few 3 ways and a shit ton of rings then drive to South Hamilton stuff our faces then show love to family

If it's not rare you're eating pot roast.
Crock pots on low are usually around 160° for Muh Food Safety reasons, which would be Well Done, for beef.
I'm guessing that rare to medium rare is the sweet spot, as usual, for beef.
Never heard of North Shore Roast beef, yet this is how l’ve done roast beef since a kid!

I moved to the north shore about 10 years ago. A friend turned me on to Bill and Bobs. I ate there like 10x in 2 weeks. Even he was impressed. As a Danvers guy I now go to The Modern Butcher. It blows away every north shore place. If you're ever in Danvers they have amazing sandwiches. Plus the meat is butchered right in the place. Doesn't get any fresher.
Oh wow, so there IS something worthwhile in Boston: the roast beef.

Growing up in Lynn we went to John's Roast Beef, Lynn House of Beef and Super 7. Sometimes Mino's but that was the last choice.
West Lynn here, we were John’s (I grew up with that family), Bill & Bob’s Boston Street and Beef-n-Reef.

I grew up in north shore mass but I’ve lived in Hawai’i last 10 years of my life finally visited my dad in Florida couple months back he’s driving me to some place for lunch does not say where…..we roll up it’s “Kelly’s “ in Florida I laughed it was pretty good! I flew up to Boston later that week …see my mom…..got so many double beefs with extra sauce i was in heaven! I make my own 3ways in Hawai’i I have a lot of my friends that love the beef!
i moved from southern CT that has great pizza and italian cuisine, to the north shore(Amesbury) for 2 years..where they have garbage everything ...except the roast beef...it was glorious...Nikos in Salisbury was my go to!
I really wish Kelly's would step out their game again. I respect that they started it, but I'd love if they could hang with the new kings of beef, but the few times I've been there recently the beefs been over cooked and wayyyyy too thick. Bummer really.
I agree, even the lobster rolls they serve are not as good, with the grilled rolls being cold instead of warm.

Everyone has a preference on Roast Beef Sandwiches. From Beverly I can say with out a doubt, Nick's is the best I've ever tasted.

I am with at Enzo’s 7-Eleven same age. It was always Kelly’s. They also had great clam strips and clams. I worked with law-enforcement every so often we would get clearance for someone to run to Kelly’s for the station for some reason I want to say they were open all hours because I worked overnight I am not a roast beef person, but Kelly’s will always stay in my mind. It was just part of growing up on the North Shore never heard of North Shore beef. They may have Kelly’s back but in my mind, it was always Kelly’s.
I live in New Hampshire. My Aunt and uncle call me a good Nephew for visiting a few times a year. They’re great people but it’s mostly for Kelly’s.
I always get the sauce on the side , I don’t like it smothered and always get the super because you get the onion roll ! ❤️

Grew up in Melrose so Billy's was our go to. Though late night would be Buzzy's in Boston or Bill & Bob's next to Kappy's on Rt 1 on the way home from drinking.

Supreme Roast Beef in Manchester, NH had the best roast beef sandwiches back in the late 80's. The place burned down, the owner got in trouble. He opened a new place with pizza and roast beef... and it just wasn't the same. For some reason, he couldn't replicate the sandwiches.
