When was that? If you are referring to 2021, THAT was the exception. F1 has always been about 1 team/driver dominating because they simply did the best job. The tight championship battles are the rarity.

I think Ferrari can hope to race with Checo this year, But noone is going to get in front of Max unless he has a DNF.
F1 is just not competitive. Fia keep changing rules and never get it right
indycar does much better then formula 1,they designeda car so that drivers come closer to compete but it made worse..

Yes, they have to stop changing the rules to get some stability in the teams.
I'm pleasantly surprised that Red Bull, starting this season with an entirely new concept, are competitive from the first race.
As their concept is new they should be able to introduce a lot of upgrades this year.
Especially when you realize Mercedes tried this concept last year and failed - they got it wrong and it looks like RB/Newey got it right.
Because the floor is basically the same from last year.
its not only the sidepod, but the floor. Since the 2022 regulation changes, Newey and rebbull have nailed the floor design which gives them the edge on other teams
Why is there not more criticism on Toto for the lack of performance of his team? Looks as if Merc can't out spend other teams they don't perform.
The moment Lauda died that team was on a downward trajectory.
I think that is a logical observation. Red Bull are probably so ahead on development now they are working on the 2027 car, as they’re already likely to be confident with the design of the “new regs” 2026 version…
The car on the mix, it’s up to the drivers to deliver, that is why you pay more than 40 million for the guy, right?
Toto overhauled the team composition, as Lewis pointed out how problematic it is.
Much of their experienced members then jump ship and join another teams.
While Lewis and Toto replaced them with a more "diverse" and "inclusive" cast.
Lewis then realized how mediocre the team had become, backstabbed Toto, then jumped ship himself to join a team he often criticized for the lack of diversity
with the intent of dragging the rest of the white engineers left in Mercedes.

Mercedes will have to start designing for the 2026 season with the technical changes.
This is a sport and can be very unpredictable at times but I have watched F1 for over 30 years and now I am finding it more difficult to watch as the first race of the season.
If you want to watch real racing? Try Indycar, MotoGP or World Superbikes as this will help fill in the gaps!
By over spending in 21 and accepting the fine RB gained a big advantage thats hard to match.

Why are you making excuses for Mercedes needing more time to work out their “new package”? RB also has a brand new package and it’s even faster than last year! To rub salt in the wound, it even has zero sidepods 😂

If we can get Horner to send Wolff a few of his Text messages he might brighten his ideas up a bit. Alpine have more chance of beating Red Bull.
From what i saw its season over after 3 laps. Redbull were unfortunately faultless and looked like they had so much more to give. I think its time ballast made an entrance
Would love to see Horner go to Mercedes (Toto has said he wants to be on the balcony not the dancefloor) and take them back to the top. Without Horner RB will struggle and it would certainly close the gap.

If George was told to manage tires early in the race why didn't he pit for hard tires?
Managing tire and car temperature while on hard tires is the worst call. Hard tires need a higher pace to keep them in the right operating window.
Red bull did a great job........the rest of the field improvement is understatement.

If we all being realistic, deep down everyone new redbull was going to dominate.
The fight was actually between Ferrari and Mercedes for 2nd place. I think most people new that.
The Mercedes had lots of issues this race but it all can be sorted over time. Obviously it's not going to beat the redbull, but during the course of the season , I can see them giving Ferrari a run for their money.
If you think about it, it's Mercedes 1st year with this concept, to be honest, the car is fast for the first time out.
Mercedes is 2 years behind every other team at the moment, so I personally think it's a job well done.
I see growth in the car over the season for sure.
As for Redbull, well we all know it's their win again. We knew this before the season started, I just think people had hope.

As soon as I heard His Shyness had handed in his notice, I knew he had tested the 2024 Car,
Every single car on the track using a Mercedes Power Plant reported Engine problems and had to reduce output, Lando Norris
blew up his Merc Engine before the Qually runs, so don't expect too much from him this season with only 3 Dud engines left
before heavy penalties kick in.
So the engineers at Mercedes can fix the most complicated engine going but they seem to be lost when it comes to putting in a seat.

I'm positive he made yet another unforced error and cost himself a place. the media boys at sky love him , I don't think Mercedes owners will see him as a team leader for next year they will surely be looking to bring in a better racer. If you understood even a little about F1 you would understand that Lewis is not expected to do well this season. The onus is on George. If the car performs well then we will see, but there is no way Lewis will get equal treatment this season and he knows it.

@@user-ux3jk8cd6znope. All drivers have been in bad teams and built them up. Lewis has always moved to a good team, won and when things weren't going well, he moved to another team. He is hugely talented but he's never helped resurrect a teams fortunes.
Michael was a 2 time champ and moved to Ferrari and created history. Max worked and now is reaping benefits. Alonso also did very well at Ferrari and now with AM. Lewis on the other hand has never moved to a struggling team and made them race winners. Big difference between him and other champions.
