I’m an old Sprint car mechanic and everyone knows Larson is a freak of nature that only comes along once in a lifetime! He reminds me of a young Mario Andretti!
Well, let's hope he doesn't get snake bit like Mario did. However, I think Larson is shaping his own mold, as it were. I wonder if Indycar will try to lure him away from Nascar. Should be fun to watch.
I remember watching a very young Kyle Larson race in Outlaw Karts in California back in 99 and 00's the Young Man can drive even back then he showed considerable talent, Amazing what success this young man has achieved once he got the right equipment and personnel behind him he has become a force to be reckoned with.
I don't understand anybody that doesn't like Kyle Larson. We are witnessing one of the greatest driving talents of all time and we all will be lucky to have seen him race. How many people can you name that can race in NASCAR, Sprint Cars/Midgets, and now and Indycar and be fast immediately?
@@doubl33Ace People say this all the time but when road racers come to oval series they also suck so idk 🤷🏻. Several F1 champs have tried NASCAR and they all did really bad. Best was Juan Pablo and he could only win at non ovals.
@@trumpet43samurai Its a different discipline, crossovers are pretty difficult in this day and age. Yes, JPM didn't win on any ovals, but he did podium on some of the tougher tracks, like Dover, Richmond, Martinsville, and finished second his first year at the brickyard. JPM only had 7 stockcar starts before running full time in Cup, and he was still pretty competitive and even won at Sonoma his first year. I really can't see any NASCAR driver pulling that off, without years of running jr formula cars full time.
Larson is a Unique talent whichever way he goes, kind of old school like Foyt, Gurney, and Mario Andretti, I'm 72 and been a racing fan since the late 50s at the Grove in Cottage Grove Oregon. There's a lot of excellent divers out there but every once in a while along comes a driver that seems to set the standard noticeably higher. @@ViperZero523 Def not, and he was in an Indy car, not an F1. I prefer nascar style contact racing all the way, was just making a comment about the weight and grip differences he experienced in one day.
Kyle Larson is an incredible talent, but in auto racing, it's not about where you start, it's about where you finish. I will cheer him on regardless, but this is one tough race.
I knew he would be good but he is even better than I could ever imagine. He is not the average Nascar driver coming to Indy, he is a force to be reckoned with by the experienced drivers that have thousands of laps under their belts. With a little luck on his side along with the skill he has shown the new kid in town has a chance of an historic win. You have to agree that would be awesome. I can only imagine what the seasoned drivers must be thinking right about now.
different cars gears and engines are tuned differently to work better at certain rpms its what works best for each car 5th gear doesent necessarily mean faster cuz in 5th you might get higher rpms where as in 6th you might or might not be more efficient but yeah its all very technical and for lot smarter people than us to know
Does he have 7 or more Cup championships? Does he have 11 or more World of Outlaw championships? Does he have a single Indycar championship? No, he is NOT the GOAT. Not yet anyway. Larson is my all time favorite driver, but to make a lie from being emotionally charged, I would never do. Is he the best I've ever seen? Yes. But still not the GOAT. Just stop it.
Has less to do with the wall and more to do with the stagger in the wheels...they are canted in to take the corners at speed, that same angle naturally pushes the car to the left on the straights...
(R) means Rookie. This is his first Indy 500, so even though he's a champion of NASCAR Cup Series he's still a rookie at the Indy 500. In general, though, most rookies don't put the car in Row 2 on the grid.
Let this sink in. An F-16 fighter jet takes off at 140-150 mph and weighs over 20,000 pounds. These guys are reaching 240 mph in a car that weighs 1,700 pounds.
