He's essentially saying that after losing the love of his life, the "sun" has dropped away and his world has faded to black. It has "tattooed" everything because his pain is permanent. and of course the epic line at the climax of the song "I know youll be a star in somebody elses sky, but why cant it be mine". Prob the most brutally honest song about heartbreak. Incredible lyricism and performance from Eddie.
yeah man. this song definitely was like a wave, started out with like a slow drizzle of rain, that i was not worried about but atay in the rain long enough u will get soaked, that next verse was soooooooo deep and hit very hard
Great song and that line "i know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky but why can't it be mine" is one of my favourites ever. Check out Even Flow, Alive, Jeremy (uncensored video), Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town, Rats, Indifference, Rearview Mirror, State of love and trust, Breath...they have a whole lot of great tunes :)
Oh, and to check them out live properly during the time this Unplugged was recorded, something like Porch live at PinkPop ;) Although the Unplugged version of Porch is awesome too!
Same as me I’m going to put the lyrics on my wall and design something it’s my favourite lyrics that mean so much at the time and now age 44 even more so now !!! This song is one of my favourites since I was 17
Pearl Jam is one of the greatest bands in our human history. They're fucking phenomenal live, it's a transcendent experience - I HIGHLY recommend getting yourself to a concert of theirs if you ever get the opportunity, it'll literally change your life! These guys *save* lives, you'll hear that said over and over again if you go down the PJ rabbit hole (they've saved mine more times than I can count.) I'd like to recommend checking out one of their most underrated songs (in my opinion), called Indifference. Just go with the album version initially, for the crisp sound. The lyrics in that song are fucking mind blowing!!! Cheers, from Australia xx
Remember something , Eddie V is telling a story , hes not only telling you , he is feeling every emotion and bringing us into his world of hurt and pain that he went through, also this guy is in a class of his own. You give me one or two other singers that do what he does ? As good as he does? Not too many . Most sing it , but they do not feel it.

Thanks for the sub! i have a pink floyd( which is already on teh channel dropping soon and stairway to heave. both already recorded and coming. and u can check out the pink floyd and others already on the channel. if u like i can link you
Now that you've heard the acoustic version of PJ, you need to check out what they really are capable of......Porch - Live at Pinkpop. This is a must watch. Glad you stuck around and gave them a shot..... best rock band to come out of the 90's!
A brilliant song and one of the many this band has produced over 30 years. They have saved my life a couple of times. Don't discount them. Plus, they can rock with the best of the them. Try "State of Love and Trust" from this same show.
Yo man. Cheers to you for hitting the Pearl Jam rabbit hole. Unplugged was big back in the 90s... bands would perform acoustically. Check out Alive Jeremy and Even Flow
The natural flow of the song and the build up to the climax and the natural way his emotion and intensity increases throughout the song is something you simply won’t see in any other performance. Period.
I was kinda laughing inside when you said " I ain't feeling this" knowing that he was just starting to warm up on an intimate performance with less than 300 people there,
Me too I have been watching a lot of his reaction so I kind of feel like I can guess what he's going to like and I was so surprised that he didn't like it...wait for it! Lmao
"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why? Why can't it be mine?" Has to be one of the saddest verses in the history of sad verses
Well it took you a minute, but you got there. Having listened to it all & know where it's going, I recommend you re-listen to the lyrics at the beginning. He's just coming to terms with the loss & facing an empty canvas. This is his heartbreak in artform that he created. Yes everyone wants you to watch "Jeremy" and yes, it's an iconic song from the album, but back in my day, "Alive" and "Evenflow" were the most played hits. My fave songs on the album (Ten) never had videos made, but I do recommend more Pearl Jam listening from their early albums
Pink Floyd’s “Several Species of Small Furry Critters Gathered Together In A Cave and Grooving With A Pict” is the longest song title ever...just sayin’. Peace ✌️
I like that you read the lyrics and got it. It's all about a painful relationship, and Eddie Vedder sells the torture. Brilliant performance by the entire band.
Thanks for the review. One of the great break up songs of all time from one of the greatest rock bands of all time, sung by one of the strongest vocalists of all time. Masterpiece.
He definitely left his soul behind after that song. It honestly takes a lot to impress me. This is arguably and more than likely the greatest live performance. Greatest concert belongs to Pink Floyd the Pulse version. Just throwing that out there, lol.
cara, essa música faz vc viajar, só quem ja amou e perdeu seu amor, entende, mas isso é um momento, e a voz dele, como é maravilhosa, achei q aqui fosse ver um conteúde legal!! A qualidade vocal desse cara é surpreendente, ele brinca com o talento vocal, e a música, e todos parecem conectados, tudo mto lindo.
Really nice to see you pay attention to the lyrics in this reaction. "Black" holds a special place in my heart. I've watched so many reaction videos where the reactors don't even flinch during the breakdown. That lyric is so powerful.Very well done my dude.
Glad you held in there man, you would've missed an epic performance. MTV Unplugged was literally "unplugged" performances.... It's all straight up the guys and their instruments ONLY. Should check out "Jeremy" UNCENSORED official music video or "Evenflow" official video next to get better acquainted with PJ. WARNING: If you do "Jeremy" you should BRACE yourself for the ending and know that 1) it is based in part by a TRUE story/event with a little bit of a personal experience in life mixed in.....2) However SHOCKING, the ending IS what actually happened in Richardson, Texas in 1991.... Eddie read a small article the paper when it happened and was moved to write this song. If you do "Evenflow", it is also based on real life "events/Issues" and was inspired by a homeless veteran Eddie once met/knew..... but the video is great and shows the Crazy/fun side of Eddie and the guys... Keep 'em coming... Peace
It was supposed to be: "I know she gave me all that she wore..." "My bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds..." Instead he uses the lines from the 2nd bridge and chorus twice which was a shame. This otherwise would have been a perfect (even more so) performance.
Man I’m not gonna lie, I gave you a thumbs down when you said you weren’t feeling this and then you TOTALLY REDEEMED YOURSELF! You kept that open mind and started feeling what he was laying down. Loved seeing you appreciate this gem of a performance. You were right in the pocket. Great job man. Turned my thumbs down to a huge thumbs up!
I recommend listen to the whole song all the way through don’t mega analyse everything lyrics... just enjoy the song first all way through...get the flow first time, like we did back then ! But I know ur reaction channel so you prob have to. The way you interpreted it was absolutely spot on and heartbreaking too thank you 💔😊✌🏼lots of love from England
Why people acted like them understood the singing words of Eddie Vedder?he's famous for being a mumbled singer.i listened to him since I was 12.30years ago.i love the rhythm but can't make out majority of the lyrics without looking it up.
WHY would you do this for your FIRST time listening to Pearl Jam??? This is from a “fans only” show. FFS. Check out the song “Evenflow” or “Alive” or something.
They steered you wrong my man. This ain’t a “first timers” song. Check out the song “Evenflow”, that will give you a better idea of who Pearl Jam is. This performance was from a small “acoustic only” set.
Jeezy pete, your stops and commentary are the worst things I have seen on the internet since the Nathan's hot dog guy did a video showing how to boil them.
So happy that you gave a chance 😅
He: I'm not feeling it.
Eddie: hold my beer. 😉😂
lmmfaoooo... thats exactly how it happened to. im glad it did,
@@RedTopReactions 😆 I was just waiting for him to hit that note. I knew he get ya right then.🔥💛

This guy nailed it. Perfect explanation.
That part always kills me. Definitely something most everyone can relate to no matter what nationality, color or creed. We've all been there.
"What is unplugged?"
Now i feel old as fuck
I never thought about it that way until your analogy with the star and black sky and I’ve been listening since 92!
thats the thing about music. can be varied depending on who is listening and when

Yay finally! I knew your reaction would do this song justice. A+ man.
Great thoughts & analysis!
My favorite line is “and all i taught her was everything”. So true, a man has to teach his woman.

@@RedTopReactions yeah that would be great! Pink Floyd happens to be my favorite band, thanks!
Great reaction! I'm glad you stuck it out, and took the time to really understand the song. 🖤🤘
It's called building up, he's building up to a creshendo. Vedder is an AWESOME singer, full of emotion.
You got a new sub. Welcome to my Harry Mack extended family.
Yesss! More Pearl Jam please.
MTV had a show for all these bands called "Unplugged" where they didn't use any electronic devices or equipment.
Now that you've heard the acoustic version of PJ, you need to check out what they really are capable of......Porch - Live at Pinkpop. This is a must watch. Glad you stuck around and gave them a shot..... best rock band to come out of the 90's!

Oh heck yeah brudah! Now, go back and listen again, knowing the end makes the beginning more intesnse.
This is one of my all time favorite song💓

One of the best songs ever written.
Yeah.. I am the star in other people's sky... they cry over me... booyah
Pearl jam- Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town. Longest song title ever.

I loved your reaction \m/
He was heartbroken thats what this song is about
I've been listening to this song since the day it came out and it still destroys me
A classic!
"Unplugged" was a show on MTV where rock bands played acoustic sets- fun fact: LL Cool J did a hip hop one that's dope.
The next one from Pearl Jam I recommend you Jeremy, the most deepest and darkest song of them, watch the Official video 👌
The unedited version preferably. A lot of people get the wrong idea with the mtv version
He definitely left his soul behind after that song. It honestly takes a lot to impress me. This is arguably and more than likely the greatest live performance. Greatest concert belongs to Pink Floyd the Pulse version. Just throwing that out there, lol.
I was scared there for a minute I was like how is it possible he doesn't like the song. Thank you for continuing to the second verse. Lol
Pearl Jam and Nirvana killed it when on Unplugged

The tattoo reference means it’s permanent. The loss and the pain are permanent, like a tattoo. You’re pretty much on it for the most part.
That is what you call laying it all on the line!

Do the Evolution is a great upbeat track. Lots of fun with PJ

Vedder = GOAT
Eddie understands...
My suggestion is shut up for 5 to 10 secs. Cheers bro
That second verse....
He didn't want to do it, hes really hurt and pushing thru 😢 hes as good today, ck out hunger strike

Can you please react to the song evenflow live MTV in 91....from pearl jam or the song alive...
F()CKING AMAZING REQUEST AS WELL AS PERFORMANCE!! Props to you👆🏽👆🏽👆🏽

Unplugged means acoustic. Like their instruments aren't plugged in.
WHY would you do this for your FIRST time listening to Pearl Jam??? This is from a “fans only” show. FFS. Check out the song “Evenflow” or “Alive” or something.
it was requested on my live

@@ElDuderino716 lol okay. gotcha.
Man break down the lyrics from the band Alice In Chains song Down in a hole mtv unplugged the lyrics are fantastic
Why... Why why do reactors not watch this with lyrics on hand. SMH. Some do, but most do not.
Please give songs a chance
LOL I DID...
If only you had the lyrics to.
Gotta see you do Nothing Compares 2 U - Chris Cornell (Prince Cover)
Just wait till you hear Chris sing.
Stop translating lyrics. It's grunge. He can sing it in Sanskrit and it still is beautiful. It doesn't matter!!!
spoke too soon huh? lol
Jeezy pete, your stops and commentary are the worst things I have seen on the internet since the Nathan's hot dog guy did a video showing how to boil them.
Review = Horrible
Thanks
Terrible review. Try harder next time.
watch harder and watch all the eay thru because clearly you did not or you wouldn't have this assesment.
