I test drove the Santa Fe when it first came out, and I was blown away by the interior quality, quiet smooth ride and the overall vehicle performance. The only concern is the long term reliability of the powertrain.
See carconfections. Their new Santa fe needed a transmission after 27 miles. Now they have issues with their 2nd transmission....
The rover fe is definitely a budget friendly semi-premium option ,Hyundai is winning because they’re not afraid to take styling risks unlike other car manufacturers cool review 💯
We agree!
😂"styling risks"😂
You mean they make really ugly vehicles. Just spit it out..
@@Mike-lt6sj lol ok ok you got me but some how they’re still winning and I’m a vw fan man go figure 😆
@@Mike-lt6sjI like Toyotas but that Highlander is about as butt ugly 😂
Hyundai-Kia is winning, definitely. Hyundai-Kia surpassed Toyota sales in Canada!
I have a Kia sportage new model and I’m very happy my 2nd Kia to all the doubters out there
Good 4 you
Kia sales in Canada, went up 26% in 2023! Kia is going to take over Canada!
We have owned 6 Kia’s and all have been excellent!! That’s why we keep buying them I have owned Toyota the Kias are just as reliable in fact in my case the Kia’s have given less issues than the Toyota Camry I owned
We’ve owned our 2024 Santa Fe Limited since February and we have absolutely zero complaints. It’s a great vehicle with a cool design.
Wow, you’ve owned it so long. I’ve owned my 2020 Acura MDX for 4 years and no complaints.
I've seen the santa fe in person. It's much better. Definitely looks special (for better or for worse). On the other hand, as usual the Toyota looks kinda plain. I like how Hyundai/Kia is not afraid to take risks.
The toyota is the equivalent of a boomer trying to use a new smartphone and keep up with evolving tech and style.
Damn thats deep
And what are you grasshopper?
santa fe hybrid will have better fuel economy in real world than highlander just like the sonata hybrid vs camry, prius prime vs niro phev, etc. toyota epa numbers are always too optimistic
same for hyundai at garrage
Ive owned lots 0f Toyota vehicles and a Sorento SX for years too .. To be honest i had less issues with my Kia than my Tacoma amd 4Runner.. It had a 6 cylinder and 29 mpg hwy .. Hyundai/ Kia have come along way .. The Hilander looks garbage with the outdated bloated Toyota design ..Thank Gawd they are moving away from this heinous look.. SF , all the way !
Even if I could afford to pay more for a Toyota I certainly never would. It doesn’t make any sense to buy less of a vehicle in hopes that it may last longer. That’s like marrying someone who bores you to death and your hoping you stay bored as long as possible.
🥶🥶🥶
I have awd calligraphy 2024 santa fe non hybrid and giving me 30mpg. Love it
I would lease the Hyundai personally until I’m sure these aren’t bad long term, but what they were able to do for the price is insane. Interested to see what they do with the next palisade, because this Santa Fe is really impressive
As a content owner of a reliable 2015 v6 santa fe with 151 000 km i can tell you I wouldnt touch any 2.5t/8speed dct combo car from hyundai or kia with 20 ft pole.
151000km is nothing. Talk to us when you’re at 300k
@Hernsama I am not going to drive it for another 8 years mate.
150 k is a good indication of reliability. Especially that I tow 2500 lb boat with it. I do maintenance that exceeds recommended standards so I don't see why I shouldn't get another 100 k without engine/transmission repairs.
@@Hernsama But he is right, hyundai turbo engine are absolute garbage reliability and durability wise.It has been proven so many times.
The Hyundai-Kia powertrain comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty. There is nothing to worry about. Best the competition do is 5-year 60,000-mile. That is pathetic and insulting. They
CANNOT guarantee that their powetrain can last more than 5 year or 60,000 miles! They are admitting that their powertrain is junk! 😂😂
@@HernsamaBut your junk only comes with 60,000-mile warranty 😂
Amazing Review Sam! Loved the way you used your equipment boxes to show the space in trunk, that definitely puts a picture to the Cargo Space numbers 7:13 . I was very surprised that almost 60k toyota car still uses prop rods under the hood, these little things really adds to over all customer experience. Toyota should stop cutting costs and add more value added convenience features for customers in my opinion not to mention the outdated tech.
Thanks a ton!
Hi Sam, thank you for the comparison review. Santa Fe is a clear winner here for me too.
Thanks for watching!
Excellent presentation as always Sam. Love your videos, very detailed, very objective and points the features the consumers needs. The photography is excellent, top notch videography. Please do more comparisons. Love to see this Santa Fee against VW Atlas or other models. Please less drag race, normal street driving, handling potholes and snow or passing a tractor trailer on the HWY 400 or 401 is what matters to the consumers. Thanks for all your hard work
If Hyundai takes more effort long term reliability like Toyota it be game changer for Hyundai.
Most people keep their cars for 3-4 years which means you are under warranty. So it really doesn’t matter. I still see so many Hyundais on the road.
Hyundai-Kia is reliable.
They matched Toyota's Canada sales.
Surpassed Stellantis and American Honda in USA sales.
Are world's 3rd largest automaker.
Hyundai-Kia will be #1. Nobody can stop Hyundai-Kia!
Yes, Toyota is more reliable than Land Rover.
Land Rover's warranty is 4-year 50,000-mile. Toyota's warranty is 5-year 60,000-mile.
But Toyota is not much more reliable than Jeep, GM, Ford. Because their warranty is also 5-year 60,000-mile. In contrast, Hyundai-Kia comes with legendary 10-year 100,000-mile warranty! Twice the warranty, twice the reliability!
@@SamCarLegion average length of ownership in US is 12.5yr in a 2023 S&P Global Mobility study. IDK where you got your 3-4yr information from.
@@Ziakel actually 64% of US car owners keep their cars between 3-5 years
would be perfect if they didn’t place the tail lights so low
Mmmm good thinking
Can you race the Santa Fe 2024 vs Sorento 2024 😊
outperforms HL in just being fancy, i would not get the SF if i were told to get one of them as my last car till i lived, unless i was paid by hyundai!!
Santa Fe looks much better
SF has a mechanical AWD
Santa Fe is GORGEOUS ! But I bet it depreciates a LOT more than the Highlander...
Every car depreciates
according to Canada 🇨🇦 situations and gas prices my first choice will b fuel efficiency leave everything side 😒
Fuel efficiency very much depends on the driver. I have gotten 6lt per 100km on a V8
@@SamCarLegion sure thing. On 401 in rush hour? What a joker.
I wish companies would do durability engine or vehicle comparison tests to see how long they last and what issues they have.
They all would fail at some point on somey
Is it more reliable 🤔
One is marriage material and the other is exciting for the moment. Sadly a lot of people will get fooled by a catchy exterior.
Love Rover Fe!
Santa Fe or Mazda cx70?? This is a great comparison. Utility vs fun 🤔
CX70
Like the overall look of the Sante Fe. The copper color might looked dated after a few years.
If I were looking for a 3-row, I would consider this only if I were going for the hybrid offering. Hyundai Should stop putting DCT in their vehicles.
Hyundai-Kia know what customers want. That's why Hyundai-Kia doubled USA sales in only 20 years to surpass Stellantis and American Honda. Test drive it, if in doubt.
@@JohnLee-tb3nh Have you personally worked on Hyundai wet DCT? If so, you'd know that vehicle like this doesn't need wet DCT in term of reliability and serviceability.
I've owned both. A 2013 SF and 2017 Highlander. Toyota is hard to beat for long term reliability and resale value, especially in hybrid trim. In Ontario, get a quote from your insurance agent. The Highlander is a high theft vehicle and rates have gone way up. I'd go SF if you want a fun date, I'd go Highlander if your picking someone to marry.
That’s another issue too - high risk of theft and high insurance
@@SamCarLegion Not to mention Highlander wait times in Ontario are a limiting factor.
@@Ryan-cf6lc yep
As we know, life ends at marriage 😂
I go for Long Term Reliability than good looks..no debate and promotional sales talk..period‼️
Long term reliability and resale value make Toyota the winner.
Tech wise I can agree the rover fe is better but long term durability when the hell has Hyundai ever made reliable cars 😂😂😂
I know many owners of Hyundai with over 200k miles without issues.
i think New Kia Sorento looks better even Telluride looks better than Palisade 🎉 but definitely Hyundai more luxurious
I think a better comparison would have been with the Toyota Grand Highlander as it would have been apples to apples.
nooo lol
would never catch me in a hyundai or kia product. Toyota and honda all the way.
Your lost , keep buying overpriced boring products
I believe Highlander sits quite high on driver side than Santa Fe ?
Yes
In the U.S. the Highlander is a better choice because it holds value more, reliable and more robust over a longer period
The Santa Fe is a superior vehicle in a lot of ways. Of course, the reliability comes into play. However, if you lease like I do, then that's not a factor. Any vehicle going to last 3 years. The styling is very cool for the Santa Fe, a winner for me.
Good point there. Leasing is the best
I read a Lot of transmisión issue in the new Santa fe. Beware!
You heard one RUclipsr cry for it so chill
Big difference in price big difference in reliability that’s it we know which one is reliable
The new gen Highlander has had 5 recalls right now:
Air bags: Sensor: Occupant
Structure: Body: Bumpers
Electronic stability control (esc): Control module: Software
Air bags
Fuel system, gasoline: Delivery
@@SamCarLegion and the santafe transmission that’s it done
So the Hyundai dealer provides the vehicle so your choice is already bias
Thats pretty stupid to say. What do you say to youtuber/journalists that get pampered on first drive by the OEM? What about all the other RUclipsrs that get cars from dealers? You have trust issues.
Design wise Hyundai design better than Japanese design
The Santa Fe is clearly the best option. You can get even a new transmission every year or so considering how fast it breaks😂
Highlander is due for refresh. Also Highlander is way more reliable and will hold its value
Eh not anymore
You pay like 6k more before tax and get less, so the value is already not there.
Have you checked out the 2025 Highlander? I think it’s probably the worst redesign in history. I actually think the current Highlander is rather attractive for a Toyota product. The new one looks like something from 15 years ago. Sales are going to drop hard once that hits the market.
wait for the recalls on the highlander
I think you will still get wet from the rain no matter how wide is the coverage.
Not so much when it’s so wide
Almost looks like they took Ford Flex design and made it better
The v6 will out last any turbo❤❤
Thats not V6 and isn’t available anymore
Lol you’re so behind the times. Toyota is going turbocharged and hybrid. Say goodbye to NA V6.
The highlander don’t have V6 anymore 😂😂😂
wonderful Hyundai, I buy highlander
RUclips reviewer bought a Santa Fe and had to return it twice for transmission problems
I bought Lexus and it was in the shop six times within two months
Car Confections 🍩 😉
paid by hyundai
Transmission that comes with 2.5l is dog shit. the only model to consider is the 1.6l hybrid.
Cmon...hood prop on the Highlander??? wtf
:(
Dude not everyone wants a big tail gate.......... I have a Kluger/Highlander.......... it's perfect, if I had that other car the boot wouldn't open with my garage door shut like my Kluger can. Silly........
That’s your problem, not the SUV.
The Toyota quality is the world class.
Really?
nah
You still living under the rock
hyundai santa fe compete with honda passport ford edge Kia Sorento
toyota highlander compete with honda pilot kia tellride and Sorento
Hyndai remind me Ford flex
Same
If you are leasing or planning to trade it in a few years get the Kia. If you want to keep it for 15+ years then get the highlander.
Most people keep their cars for 3-4 years
@@SamCarLegion not anymore
SamCarLegion... The people who keep cars for less than 4 years are mostly those who lease instead of buy. Most of them pretend to be rich being seen in premium cars.
@@robertduklus6555 all you have to do is talk to sales guy will tell you how majority of people will trade in their cars after 3-4 years
Here is a good source, Key findings:
Americans own their longest-kept cars for an average of about 8 years.
In our sample, 64% have only owned their current cars for 5 years or less.
80% of Americans considered the cost before buying a new car.
Vous devriez travailler pour hyundai
You should work for Toyota
Good luck getting any toyota at MSRP , and the hyundai has transmission problems already. Both nice cars but I'll have to pick the highlander in this current comparison , that is until the santa fe does some transmission fixes, and the tail lights should be a tad higher. Just my opinion.
Land Rover Santa fe
Love it lol
My immediate thought is longevity, the hood part is a good example - it's such a small sample but to me, it probably plays out throughout the entire lifetime of both vehicles, that Toyota will probably last many years longer than that Hyundai (and with much less repairs and maintenance). Using the hood part as an example, I'll bet those hood struts start pooping out after 3 or 4 years and the hood latch probably has a recall in 2 yrs hehe.
Good analysis there
Wow can you tell how the stock market will do in 2-3 years?
Santa fe all the way toyota it's boring and old
The Santa Fe already has trans issues 😂 look it up … Highlander is a big boring blob of a suv
At this point, Hyundai has no shame…
Why??
누가봐도 싼타페 승!!!!
Just buy the Toyota to have peace of mind when it comes to reliability. Hyundai's are prettier but a mechanical headache.
Have you seen the issues with the new Tacoma? 4 Runner with known rusting problems? The recalls? They’re all moving to turbo charged engines. Wheels falling of their EVs? When will you realize Toyotas are no longer that reliable.
Just say you don’t know how to take care of car , I haven’t see a car that had no problems. I had a Camry that had many problems. Panoramic roof stop working, also they had replaced my fuel tank . You think Toyota don’t have their own problems
Toyota ❤❤❤❤❤
Highlander will be more mechanically reliable and easier to service. The Car Care Nut Reviews channel are more technical than this channel. I doubt the presenter have the ability to do comparison at that level.
No way. No reason I should spend my money on Korean vehicles. I always go for Japanese vehicles..currently enjoying my 2023 mitsubishi outlander sel,,, will add up nissan pathfinder 2024 / 25 platinum very soon.
The Santa Fe looks really bad with this square block style. Weird cheap car.
All who say "reliability" Hyundai has the best warranty in the buisness so if anything messes up its a Insta replace 🤣 try again
Until they read something in the fine print so they can disclaim repairs or claim they cannot duplicate the problem. I know their game
@@markwilliams6378Hmmm Toyota did the same to me. And Toyota finance face class action lawsuit for deceptive practices.
New Santa Fe has had numerous Transmission problems. Typical for junk Hyundai and Kia.
So does the Highlander 6 recalls
toyota is ugly and outdated
definitely
looks like from 2010
That's not the new Highlander.
Terrible review, you obviously like the Santa Fe, you can’t be biased to just the Hyundai ..
Horrible review
In that case the sant fe is just a better vehicle. Toyota has just the "reliability" to their side. You pay more for less.
Only thing Toyota have over others are reliability records, when it comes to tech and value for your money, Toyota is behind
That Kia is hideous
that's not a kia kid.
Hyundai is unreliable POS with a crappy engine that doesn't last past 100K km...
Nobody care, go buy your boring Toyota 😂😂😂
It's unbelievable how ugly this new Santa Fe actually is. With so much technology around to build a good design and they opted for a boxy 80's-90's design. Also, this is far from the old Santa Fe personality and it's absurd to think about the lack of personality that Hyundai is facing after so many years producing cars and still copying other brands identity like in this case copying Land Rover's interior design. It looks like a Land Rover Chinese copy from years ago when Chinese automakers were still finding their identity.
Who hurt you? 😂😂😂
Santa fe!!
