I can't help but wonder what some of the great Swing Band artists of the 1940's would have thought of this arrangement. It's not swing, not quite blues, not quite boogie-woogie, but there's a compelling beat to it that's hard to ignore. The way each instrument is featured throughout the nearly eight-minute-long song rivals even that of Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing." This is a great driving song.
The Blues Brothers was so much more than a movie. It was a showcase for some of the absolute best talent in the blues/funk/R&B world at the time. Not even mentioning the guest appearances in the movie, this band itself is a masterclass. Willie Hall on drums, Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Steve Cropper on guitars, Duck Dunn on bass, Lou Marini on saxophone, Tom Malone on trombone, Alan Rubin on trumpet, and George "Murphy" Dunne on keyboards. Beasts, all of them!

John Belushi was a good enough Blues singer to have done it professionally. He had a perfect voice for it, and the material they chose to cover was just brilliant and showed a deep knowledge of Blues and R&B. Elwood Blues (Dan Akroyd) hosted a Radio Show radio 📻 titled The House of Blues. I love the way Blues Music pioneered Rock and Roll. Carl Perkins had a Blues Style Sound to his Rock and Roll/Country style sound which he is credited for coming up with the Rockabilly Sound. ZZ Top is a good group that likes to mix Blues in their Classic Rock Sound. Their hit La Grange is a very good example.

I hate Illinois nazis
That was Upper Wacker Drive just east of Columbus. It still "dead ends" like that.
@@deborahschuler8826 After all this time? xD
@@im3phirebird81 Yep.
Bill I miss you over here and I can't sleep.

Aretha Franklin's singing "Think" to Matt "Guitar" Murphy is the definition of "Showstopper."
Your use of "Quotation marks" is grammatically correct, but also "Kind of obnoxious".
@@Lexilove2016 It's "fun" to be "sarcastic"
a lot of people don't realize that the Blues Brothers were a real band! Paul Shaffer, David Letterman's band leader was in the Blues Brothers Band before the David Letterman show started. They put out two live albums and the soundtrack album. Awesome recordings....I have all three!!
I like how Duck allowed the other musicians in the band to shine and have their moments when he could dominate with his bass.
Learned how to play proper blues bass from this track. Duck Dunn was a master. 🤤
That was Donald 'Duck' Dunn sir...LOL
Check out Booker T and the MG's "Green Onions" Dunn on bass, Cropper on guitar when they were young
@@aloysha38 wow thank you i only knew about steve
One of my favorite versions of this immortal Robert Johnson penned song. All time favorite version of this tune, was done by the late, great Magic Sam... Props to John Belushi, for giving the thumbs up, to Magic Sam, during the filming of the "Blues Brothers" movie. Classy guy.
I love Magic Sam's version too.
This version is the best, it's recorded live, but where? when? does anyone know? I can't find the recital where they played this one.
My brother and I went to a Holloween party as the Blues Brothers in 1986. We won first place , got a hundred bucks and drank free all night. Those were fun day's.
Blues Brothers was ridiculous and amazing and the perfect movie
Was a great movie, with great music.
... Honestly, though, I'm a sucker for any musicals.
i like ur name
The teleporting nazis at the end cracked me up
Ketchup Erection Your name is funny. Still, if I were you, I would go to a doctor specialised in men problems 😳
My favourite musical, and I don't like many musicals.
My husband and I moved out of northern Illinois almost 31 years ago, but we sure miss the City from this time...
Without ANY Doubt one of the best movies ever made...
Jake & Elwood Blues Ladies & Gentlemen.... The BLUES BROTHERS.
I always play this on the jukebox when available....great song, get your moneys worth, and the look on the persons face who is waiting for their song to come on next is priceless.
I always play the lapdance is always better when the stripper is crying, but that's for other reasons...
@@robskyle gay club strippers do that often....
Why the look?
I'm doing this I recently moved back to Chicago but when I leave I'll definitely play this on the jukebox
