Back when Thor and Juggernaut were tough and not something to prop up Hulk. I miss the old comics Thor actually seemed magical instead of a brute with a hammer, Juggernaut was actually unstoppable, Hulk wasn't a genocidal maniac, Spiderman wasn't constantly depressed, those were the days.
So do I , marvel needs to bin all these daft upgrades , hulk doesn’t need amps he already has the potential to have unlimited strength and Thor just needs to be Thor no rune king or the like , he’s the god of thunder the fun for me was always the raw elemental aspect of his power why would he need energy blasts when he could summon lightning, wind , bounce mjolnir of your head or just punch your lights out

I love these fights between Thor and Juggernaut. They’re always so entertaining. I also love how their suits in this fight get more battle damaged as the fight goes on.
Almost as entertaining as the Hulk juggernaut fights. As the former doesn't have a magic weapon of the caliber of Mjolnir. Just an old dukearoo between two heavy hitters.

Thor doesn't actually speak Old English, and few of us would understand it if he did. What he speaks is Modern English from the Elizabethan Era, which is about 400 years old. Shakespeare, not Beowulf.

Marvel needs to review these old issues from 70’s through to the nineties to remind themselves about thors strength and ability to fist fight with the best of them
Thor used to have great punch ups with the likes of Hercules , crusher creel, the wrecker , kurse. Didn’t always come out on top but could always be relied up on to unleash a decent left hook when needed
I got this issue! It was from the 90's run on Thor. It's just the art style looks like it's from the 70's. This was actually a rematch between Thor and Juggernaut. When they fought the first time, Thor was ill and not 100% (Thanks to Loki). It took The New Warriors to try and stop Juggs. I think Thor banished Juggernaut to that alien planet. However fans was not happy about that first fight so Marvel gave us a proper rematch!
Geez... I've been saying this for the last few years now. The incoming writers & editors at Marvel ( and DC ) need to read all material from the 70s to the 90s.
I love when Thor uses Mjolnir almost telepathically. It really shows how powerful of a weapon it is. It’s not just a blunt object, it can be commanded to do virtually anything independently of its wielder. Imagine Doctor Doom is on the other side of of the planet building a giant laser and all of a sudden Mjolnir comes flying in from the other side of the planet and smashes it and flies back.
Ole school marvel battles were the best. The power lines drawn in the sand seem more resolute and the pecking order in power was clear. It was hulk and Thor and then everybody else. And I love the art of Sal Busema. Him and John were awesome comicbook artist.

This is EASILY one of THOR's greatest bouts; he showed tactical intelligence in creatively employing the marvelously mystic mallet Mjolnir, which resulted in Juggernaut's defeat. I still maintain that the Juggernaut should be able to wipe the floor with the Hulk, though it will never happen due to the Hulk's popularity.
Exactly. They'll never let Juggernaut be able to decisively beat the Hulk, because the Hulk is considered one of the good guys. Even though by definition the Juggernaut's strength is supposed to be limitless.
@@FernandoComicsOfficial DO you remember the issue of Thor that had Hercules bragging to a kid about how he kicked Thor's butt, but when the Avenger's butler saw that the kid was upset, that his hero Thor lost, Hercules turned the story into Thor winning the fight, so that the kid wasn't upset that his hero lost. It was around the same time as this issue I believe. I thought that was a really cool issue.

Not really. When Thor threw his hammer and had to fight without it and Juggernaut lost his force field they were fighting just skill and strength vs skill and strength and Thor was one punch from taking Juggernaut down.

I have no issues with any character losing as long as it’s written well like this! It shouldn’t be a stomp when the characters are close in strength. These types of battles should include feats of strength as well as creative thinking to get the upper hand!

Well, to the end, Thor still has to bfr Juggernaut to finish the fight. The next time these two clash, Juggernaut choke the life out of Thor until the other exemplars arrived and save his life (during the 8th day storyline)

Thor used bfr in this fight due to the hammer gimping his potency. This was when he couldn't be separated from the hammer for more than 60 seconds at a time. Thor chose a tactically sound maneuver to accomplish liberating the planet. With Juggs force field disabled, Thor thoroughly trounced and was about to finish Juggs.

@@FernandoComicsOfficial all it did is prove thor could do nothing to "put down" the juggernaut ....it is a bandaid ....i mean just hold onto the hammer and it will return back to thor in 60 sec or less and continue the fight .....thor did nothing but give himself a rest before round 2... now let me say thor is a better smarter fighter and should be since he is thousands of years older, and in a long run he should be able to outright put juggernaut down , but "this fight" isnt the one sided fight people try to make it out to be , it is so even that thor had to take a break

A KO is not the only criteria for winning. And he couldn't hold onto the hammer because he lost it during the impact....of when he was shot off the planet.

Did you not read the comic? Juggs was about to go down and just as Thor threw what would be the final punch Juggs force field came back up saving him. Clear win for Thor.
Don’t get me wrong, Thor should beat Juggs the majority of the time. But modern Marvel has vastly de-powered the dude. Juggs should be kicking more @ss than they portray him now.
