That catcher just learned a valuable lesson.
Right I bet the next guy who tries this gets closelined immediately 😂
Umpire called strike. How do you get fooled into thinking it was ball four? Dur
@@garydelong7750You clearly hear "BAAAALLLL" The hand motion may be what's confusing though.
Absolutely and he will never do that again. He will put the tag on everybody even the Umpire if he moves
@@dawnbaker8023 You hear "BALK!" You see the runner retreat to third and look at the field ump, then start clapping. The batter makes no move towards first. No one is coming from 2nd to third.
I did steal third several times and home once on actual ball fours by trotting to the next base without a runner behind me and while the catcher still had the ball. The other coach would say, "You gotta go back." My coach would say, "You can't do that." I'd just say, "Stolen base." And the ump would say, "Catcher had the ball when he moved toward the bag. Stolen base." I first heard the term "permitted base" or "uncontested base" or something for when the defense lets you have the base without attempting a play. That's probably how it got scored if they did that back in the 70s (like runners at the corners and the guy on first took second without a throw).

I was the only 1 who was going to say this. I'm tired of quiet umps. On any strike or out call you need to shout it so the players know the call.
All these experts on here blaming the catcher and none of them understand the basics of umpire etiquette. If you’re a catcher, you can’t turn around and watch the ump every time a pitch is thrown. That’s why the ump is supposed to loudly call a strike if the batter doesn’t swing. The runner simply took advantage of a shitty ump.
The Ump clearly called ball, basses were loaded, the defense was tricked into thinking it was ball 4.
@@philgugat9719Ump made a strike signal. Someone else yelled “Ball”.

Even if the catcher was confused, all he had to do was tag the runner. Hats off to the runner for thinking outside the box.
Didn't the runner think he was being walked in? He didn't act like he was trying to steal home while the catcher was standing at home plate with the ball in his mit.
Poor catcher. I bet he cringes every time he hears a shouted "ball."
Lmao the iconic “did I just fuck up?” Looking at everyone for confirmation 😂

This game is in time everyone until the Catcher gets told and understands just what the fuck happened and how? LMAO

It’s the umpire’s fault. If the batter doesn’t swing and it’s a strike, the ump should verbally announce it (for this very reason).
The fact the catcher had the ball the whole time just makes this that much better 🤣

Just like ZZBrandon.
Also, after the game the umpire's car was reported stolen, and his wife has filed a missing person's report.
That happened in one of my high school games. Bases loaded, 3-2 count, 1 out. Pitch delivered. Batter sprints toward 1B but I ring him up. Guy from 3B trots in to score. Catcher asks, didn't you call the batter out? Me: Yep. Catcher: What about the runner from third? Me: He just stole home.

Nawww.
The catcher later had his dad and his coaches from pee wee to present running laps.

He won't ever let a person walk past him again in life without out tagging them. 😂😂😂
That’s why your coaches always tell you to keep your head in the game.
Especially the catcher.
Especially when the plate umpire calls strike two and the base umpire calls a balk.
Ya; and this is the result of that😂 When you make people scared of making accidental mistakes, they start making exponentially more of them since you’re making them overthink everything and making them paranoid that they’re doing something wrong even when they aren’t. It’s just like Iguodala said about the Miami Heat; the team beats into their players heads that they “work too hard in practice to ever miss an open shot in a game”, so the players overthink open shots and lead the entire league in open misses
I GUARANTEE that this kid was scared to look stupid in front of his coach by tagging a player during a walk. He was paranoid of his coach getting mad at him for being the only player on the field who didn’t know it was 4 balls. If he didn’t have a coach that makes him scared of mistakes, he would’ve just thought “wait, that wasn’t 4 yet was it?” and tagged just in case without any fear of feeling stupid if he was wrong and it really was a walk
It used to be so funny at that age where kids start to actually care about sports but then you have the ones that are still just goofing off with it and the coach will just yell out there what are you doing?
@@audreymorris8563I love baseball too but you wrong for that. Basketball is a high iq game. That’s what separates the greats is thinking the game and not sprinting around the court.

News flash.... A balk was called by the field ump 😁
You don’t play your cards, you play your opponent

They weren't faking a ball 4 since no runner advanced from 2nd.. the dude yelled "BALK" from the dugout which is an automatic advancement (if it was actually a balk)
If true umps can put him back at 3rd, you can't yell things like balk or "I got it!" From the dugout.
I don't think the dugout said anything. I think the first base coach might have said something like "take your base" or something like that. And the runner just played it cool, like he was doing what he was supposed to be doing, as told by his coach. Smart play. Risky, but if you play it cool like it's no big deal. Wicked smart play.
Yeah and why didn't the batter start running toward 1st base...
That was not the UMP's voice yelling and something was edited out of the audio for youtube short's sake...

Great play.
How do you know someone was on second?
Yooooo! I don’t know whether to be proud or disappointed!😂😂😂

No one was tricked. It was a balk. He didn’t steal. He was advanced.
That's what I was thinking. The base umpire had to have called a balk. It was called strike 2 and the batter never left home plate. If they were trying to pull a fast one he would have been in on it and went to first.
It's was two strikes the team had the catcher thinking it was a ball
That's the way I see it!!
I'm confused...
@@MrCryptler69 On a balk all the runners are awarded a base. He balked and the runner on 3rd was awarded home. You can hear the base umpire yelling balk plain as day. The pitch doesn't count.
As a little league couch. We were playing a good team that the catcher never had a pass ball. I had our kid start to steal second base on the catcher return throw to the pitcher, the pitcher caught the ball and over threw second into the outfield and our kid stoll bases all the way home and broke the tie game in bottom of ninth inning . We went on to playoff final and won the championship.

It’s understandable. Myself being American I don’t understand the metric system.
When the pitcher doesn’t throw the over plate it’s a bad pitch and is called a ball. After 4 balls the runners walk a base. They tricked the team into thinking it was ball 4 and they were walking the runners..
@@josephavalos4807and you messed up the explanation. Someone yelled balk. Which is illegal movement by the pitcher. So the team on defense relaxes just enough for the runner on 3rd to score. Meanwhile there’s no ball so it is basically a shitty but legal strategy

Remember kids study your rule book 🍻
You have a gift for storytelling.
As a catcher when I played, I was taught to tag everyone no matter what the situation lol. But, to take a little blame off of this catcher, that ump needs to not be a damn mute on the call.
Now that I'm older, I volunteer at all my nephews and nieces to do the paper score keeping, and these umps now can be very annoying. No vocals at all. Then get frustrated if I ask from the box down to them "hey blue, what was that last pitch?"... Didn't you see what I did with my arm? It means strike! So I told them idc about your hand gestures, you need to be vocal on strikes and outs at least. If you want to be quiet on balls fine, but the batter & hitter can't hear your stupid hand gesture but can hear you say STRIKE!!
Needless to say the ump got his poor feelings hurts and had to say something to me after the game 🤦🏻
