To be fair, I do think A’ja has such a strong case taking into account the amount of points, rebounds + 3 blocks and 2 steals that she does every night, but she is at least top 3 in mvp candidates. She will be the best player of the wnba next year or 2 years from now.

    • @bryans6861

Stat wise, there is no doubt that A'ja Wilson deserved to be unanimous MVP. The MVP doesn't take into account the skyrocketing popularity of the league because of Clark and it shouldn't. The right MVP was named and the right ROY was named and both were unanimous. A'ja broke the league record for points scored on the year with 1,000 and also had the most rebounds on the year. Can't take nothing away from her. Clark will be a force for years to come.

You know what tells me the most about CC's character? The way her teammates are genuinely pumped at her successes. The women who are closest to her and work with her everyday clearly love and respect her. Look how Kelsey helps her up at 8:42 and the way Boston and Wilson love cooking it up with her. She's clearly respected and cared about on that team, so no matter what anyone says about her, it's clear she has a good attitude.

  • @clifforddfowler
    @clifforddfowler Месяц назад +13

The best arguement for CC actually being the MVP of the WNBA 2024, is the very thing they all know, but are not talking about. Caitlin didnt just raise the level of play for every one of her teammates, she raised the level of play for every single player in the WNBA, and its obvious. She raised their defensive play, in the way they all had to gameplan for her, and then up thier level of play to actually double and triple team her to guard her. She raised their level of play on offense, as they were forced to try to go point for point with Caitlin, Mitchell, Boston, and Hull, when they worked together as a team. And what other player were other teams compelled to tightly guard from the half court line besides Caitlin Clark? Nobody besides Caitlin Clark raised the level of play in the WNBA this year in such a noticable way. The MVP is an award that recognizes the most valuable player in the league for their overall value to their team of course, but also their contributions to the league as a whole, and Ill argue to the day I die, and history will bear me out, that nobody brought more value to the league or was more important to the WNBA in 2024 than Caitlin Clark, and anybody that argues that point is being disengenuous or outright lying to whoevers listening. The league has treated Caitlin Clark like she was their enemy all year. They've lied about her accomplishments in the NCAA, they've tried to deny her impact on the womens game overall. They've allowed their players to play dirty basketball against her all year, as she faced a more physical game than any other in the league, with no reprimands to offending players, and no monetary penalties to anyone besides calling a flagrant foul every once in a while. They've failed to call fouls or penalties against offenders so many times it looks suspiciously sanctioned by the commissioner, and every step of the way Caitlins picked herself up, dusted herself off, and proved to everyone in the league that shes a lot tougher then they thought she was, and she never said anything about it in interviews, she'd only talk up her teammates in public, as well as players around the league she played against, because she isnt only a player in the league, but shes also a huge fan of many of the leagues players, many of who have done nothing but lied, tried to throw shade on, and hated on Caitlin from day one. If any other player came into the league, and in their first year did as much as Caitlin Clark has this year, they would have hailed her as the next coming, placed her on the Olympic team, made her the unanimous ROY as well as unanimous MVP, and made her the new face of the WNBA.
But not Caitlin Clark. The league had it in for her this year, and the last viscious act against her was robbing her of the MVP, because she most certainly was, and it wasnt even close.

The WNBA has made a very big mistake. It has disrespected Caitlin Clark from the start of the season. No one has faced more tenacious and ferocious defensive pressure than Caitlin Clark. The WNBA is an absolute joke. Caitlin Clark broke 62 records this season. A’ja Wilson had it easy. A’ja Wilson is in a starting lineup with four Olympians. A’ja has rarely ever seen a double team. If Clark had taken 230 more shots she would’ve score well over one-thousand points as a rookie! A’ja was a big fish in a little pond. But now she’s in an ocean, and Caitlin is a whale. Clark gets the free throw line about 4 times a game and there are at least 12 other players that get more free throw attempts than Clark? Clark is the most guarded player in the league and she only averages 4 trips to the free throw line! I read where a player scored 19 points from the free throw line? She has to be slammed to the ground before these reps call foul! No wonder nobody watched the WNBA , the refs think they are calling a MMA fighting ring. These women are talented enough to play real basketball, not a free for all fight! Caitlin Clark is exciting to watch ! She is interesting respectful and fun and she goes out of her way for her fans . She is the perfect sportstar and she has broke more records than anybody in history .
She has bonded with her team and elevated them from last place to the play offs . She had made the WNBA a successful woman's sport.
It really sucks that the players and teams and the league itself can not show her any thanks or respect or even grant her a fair safe place to play basketball .
She's been threatened and attacked from behind , even when play was stopped , her eye was poked and no foul called . She was denied a place on the Olympics , in 3 point shoot outs and was denied MVP consideration by her biggest critics ... the WNBA itself and everyone in it !
The WNBA DOES NOT DESERVE CAITLIN CLARK !

CC being such a great player is probably part of the hate she’s getting, she’s a better player than most of the other players. The only way they can get back at her is playing dirty. She’s more mature and handles herself with such grace, more so than all her haters. Instead of whining and complaining about all the dirty hits, she does not say one word against any of them, if anything she says it’s basketball.

#2... there are way, way, way too many 'records' for stuff in sports
For those arguing CC should be MVP, look up the stats of CC vs Wilson, and it is really obvious who dominates in the league. Personally, I really like the stat called PER (Personal Efficiency Rating) which measures the performance of a player on average per minute when they are on the floor.
Wilson is at another world of 34.9 and CC is only at 18.8. That is insane, but true. That measures the value of a person on the floor as much as anything as far as stats go

How many all star votes did she get as rookie ?, How many seats did her team fill as a rookie ? Did her team average well over a million tv viewers her rookie year. Did she ever lead league in total points scored + assists, did she fly charter her rookie season, did she haver have triple doubles as rookie....I could go on.

And, because they worked hard to break previous records, you would think they would be so excited for you and what you are doing for the WNBA. I think the haters are ridiculous people that dont know how to think or appreciate what is happening for them. People are calling them quite a few names, but STUPID comes to my mind. They would rather ruin their reputations than support you. I hope you play long enough to see a change in the attitude of these players, or that they destroy themselves. Same for the refs!

I feel sorry for the next year's rookies to be honest. They will be compared to Caitlin Clark, or at least the best next-year rookie is going to be, and she can almost only fall short in that comparison.
But then, at least 3 more teams are being formed (one for 2026, I don't know when the other 2 are starting) which opens more spots for rookies and veterans alike - so I would think that that is a tiny price to pay. 🙂
