  • This is a 1995 Flxible Metro 35102-4D with a DD50G engine & Allison V731 transmission. These and all 40fters ( # 4000-4007 ) were all retired by 2007. Most, if not all, units are still in active service for Elk Grove Transit ( Elk Grove, CA ). Audio Recording by me. Photo by Chaffee Yiu

    The L10G units ( 1800 - 1809 ) sounded like the 2500/2600s.

Sorry for the late comment, but honestly i don't know the exact reason why these retired at only 10 years old, but at the same it could be one of those two you just said. BTW some of these are now running for Sampson Trailways which is located in South Atlanta right around the corner from the Hamilton BLVD Bus Facility

@MetroLinerXLZ - true true..not only that but at the auction, they went for a lot of money due to the scrap value.

Those reached 500,000 miles in less than 12 years, or budget cuts?

I remember these at E-Tran. Sucks they got rid of them in 2010, but I was in SF by 2009. That damn transmission slip at 2:38 caught my attention! :D

TheCRTman I got to drive these at E Tran. They sounded awesome but they were slow as molasses. Monterey Salinas Transit had some of the same ones too. Not sure when they retired theirs.

Wow I never knew you drove for E-Tran! I think MST's were done by 2008.

@@markdm4805 yall had 1 from RTA #95-555 that was LTA-10G Cummins 260hp powered with the ZF 5Hp592 Transmissions that was very fast. It had the roof mounted Hvac system being the only one out of all the Flxible Metro E CNGs

That wouldn't work out. While the powertrain would've been fine (withOUT repowerment), getting parts to maintain the bus itself (as in skirt panels, parts for the undercarraige, electrical, etc.) were becoming a nightmare for operators.
