@Finalzero the first starship troopers budget was actually 105,000,000.... look it up on wikipedia, and the 3rd had a budget of 20,000,000 and the 2nd had a small budget of 7,000,000.
The first movie was better than the book in almost every way. Heinlein actually took the jingoism seriously, the movie used it as a comment on society.
It doesn't look like it's going to quite live up to the first movie's reputation, but it's definitely gonna be leaps and bounds beyond the epic failure that was SST2. I'm predicting this one to be among the top of the straight-to-DVD movies- you know, the ones that could have stood a chance in theaters, but never quite made it- so it should be a good movie for those nights where you want some cheap laughs with a few buddies who like gory movies.
I thought the same thing as you in the first movie we saw only one airstrike, one thing I'm assuming its more cost effective for the federation to use the mobile infantry.
actually ^^, if you read the book the reason they dont do that ( even though they have bombs that could destroy a planet) is becuase the bugs have Thousands of PoW's on all of there planets(at least most of them)

At one given point I said "if the girl says "do you really believe that?" to the SM I'm pulling out a tequila bottle and getting a shot everytime she says it ;). The movie rocked, tho. And I'm glad to see Rico's butt is doing fine.
The first one rocked.. the second one was alright for me only because the gore (hated the actual story) and ya - this ones gonna suck - the graphics look like - well computer game from 2002 and wtf with the lazerbeam? bugs have lazerbeams?? but i like how they using battle suits now in the original book they did - and they ownd the bugs not the bugs slaughtered them
I just watched this excellent movie, and I must say, it was quite good due to the fact that the special effects were dazzling and the actors were very great in my opinion. How about that? stupid ass...

i want to see some fricken vehicles in this one i mean i want some nukes man! the guns the infantry carry are pathetic i mean really w should have a like a nuclear core hollow point or something(one thing i noticed though the guns the infantry carry look like the lambert carbine on battlefield 2142)

when a movie is a succes, and doesnt have a sequel, it's because its good that way... i knew that starship 2 would suck ever since they announced it... i mean, u dont just revive a movie after so many years... this 3rd one is gonna suck even more...

It's a good movie, I'm amazed some people can't watch a movie just because it's not on the cutting edge in terms of production values.

i saw this movie and its really good. ST2 drifted away from the original storyline. this one is really close to the original story.
