Love how your not afraid to switch things up weather that be company’s or gear your not just glued to one thing and you give honest feedback back keep it up 👍
I’ll try,I had a big motorcycle accident but I’m trying to get back in shape thanks to you. I’ve had multiple surgeries but I’m trying your challenge to get back in shape. I’m so outta shape but I’m trying your weekly challenge. Hopefully I’ll get moving again thanks for pushing me Dan!!!
If I could make a recommendation. Ditch the prusik knots on the tether and lineman. Get a couple of ascenders. It makes adjusting rope length super easy
All in on saddle hunting for elk here too. I’m in Utah, so it should work great with the early archery season. I used it for whitetails this year in WI and fell in love. Can’t wait to use it for elk in 2025! As others have said, ditch the prusik on your tether and get a Kong Duck. But honestly, for your linesman, you can keep the prusik. It’s lighter than a carabiner and ascender. Also, don’t fall for the temptation to add biners and such to make an adjustable bridge. It’s too heavy. With backcountry elk in mind, I’m not doing things exactly like the whitetail guys would. It’s all about going light to reduce overall pack weight. So you don’t need a heavy ultra adjustable bridge. You’ll probably find a length you like and leave it there anyway. Simple and light with as little metal in the entire setup as possible is the way to go. I also have the Latitude gear strap and bow hanger. And honestly, I love the bow hanger but don’t like the strap. The cinching buckle on the strap is hard to loosen and I will never use all those loops. I only use one with a hook for my pack. Anyway, I could go on…but I’ll spare you 😅. Good luck this year!
I shot one from a climber this year. It’s an old one piece climber where you have to bear hug the tree to climb. A little sketchy but it weighs less than a spotter/tripod setup and straps directly to my pack. I will always have it on trips as an option. If you can get 20-30 ft in a tree like an aspen, you’re golden.
Love it man ! I predominantly hunt whitetail in the mid west and north east but switched last year to latitude method 2 and carbon sticks and it’s such a game changer !
Can't wait to see a in depth review of this system. Lots of videos out there about how to setup your saddle hunting, but knowing how you do videos would love to see one done by you.
Saddle hunting is great for mobility. Being able to move around to different areas easily is great. This season I got into one sticking. It’s even lighter and once you get the “hang” of it, just as quick to get in a tree and much faster getting out.
i really like the back brace latitude makes for saddle hunting. makes it super comfortable. also I would change out the prussic knot on the 8mm lineman's rope and Teather for a CT rollnlock pulley. makes adjusting the length of the linemen's rope and Teather super easy. I added a small loop of Amsteel to the release side of the pulley to make the release easier with 1 hand.
I’ve been saddle hunting for whitetail for a few years. Never tried it for elk. Constantly evolving my setup. I started with hawks too. I now use the hawks for presets only.
I have latitude method 2 saddle the rebel platform and speed sticks. Just bought the back pack this season. I love it all. Best way to whitetail hunt on Long Island NY
I have saddle hunted the last 3 yrs and love it but I have switch to what they call a hybrid system. I use an XOP Rubicon hang-on stand and the XOP the holiday harness to tether to the tree.
Heck yeah dude, I’m wanting that pack. Hope you do a comparison video between the two saddles. I currently have the phantom but want a new one for next year, I’ve been running it since they came out
Look into buzzard roost saddles and Custom gear modifications, especially CGM for the price. Great guys too. I also bought a Mystery Ranch treehouse 38 on sale and love it but then right after that 2 months later the ranger 22 dropped lol but the treehouse is a really awesome pack as well and little bigger
One pointer I picked up when using climbing sticks and a platform is to put your platform at about the same level as the top of your last stick. That will give you the ability to pivot around the tree and give you more shooting options. Latitude also has some pretty cool whitetail content worth checking out. So does Tethrd too now that I say that.
Love itttt lets goo! Been using my saddle for whitetail past 3.5 seasons in little old Rhode Island, smallest state in the US. My best pointer is study some really good channels about safety practices, and always always alwaysss, secure and clip into your tether first before stepping onto your platform, then remove lineman’s belt! Also for added safety especially in the dark if the tree allows it, on my way down i will only use my tether and just stay clipped in and go down like that removing my sticks. But i also have a ropeman 1 which makes it easier , on my tether and linemans. I plan to switch to one sticking when i get some spare coin to justify, and then can repel down after each hunt
@ oh mann….hopefully some day brother. Thats awesome, good for you! Im grinding out whitetail season here now. On mostly all public. All the guys in Mass stay shooting giants like from Iowa without sunday hunting too lol
Can’t wait until you discover a one-stick repel setup soon 😉. Give “Out on a Limb” a call👍. I killed a 168” Whitetail this year on a quick 1 day scout and hang-n-hunt on public land after crossing a 12’ deep creek bottom…you’re gonna love it Dan… light, fast, small, and efficient ❤
Just ordered my first complete saddle system last night. Killed around 44 whitetail from ladder stands, climbers, ground blinds, and hang ons over the last 30 years and thought it was time I tried a saddle. Can’t wait to watch your progression in using a saddle for elk.
I went to latitude sticks this year I have those carbon ones they are extremely light weight and they grip the tree very well. My set came with only 3 sticks but I use a double step aider just on the bottom stick and then single aiders on the other 2 I get plenty high with 3 steps. There nice let me know how you like the saddle.
Been 4 years since i got my saddle and 4 years since i used my awesome lone wolf sit and climb. The OGs know how valuable and awesome that climber was. But the versatility and lightweight of the saddle setup is awesome
Lattitude is a great company. Few things. Girth hitch one side of the linemen rope and use just one carabiner. Its Quieter and and simpler and always attached. Prusik knots suck. Grab some Kong duck ascenders. Light years ahead of the prusik. Finally. Tinker and try different methods of climbing and setting up. Good luck and enjoy it!
Broke the platform on my new Tethrd predator V XL, replacement is being sent. Pretty sure I'm ordering the latitude platform and dumping the Tethrd asap.
Awesome upgrade!! Your old one would still be good for a fixed stand somewhere if you have a private spot Biggest thing for saddle is get a system in place that you can repeat, what's in which pouch in the order you'll need it etc
@ELKSHAPEGEAR Bottom of my left pouch is my platform strap, then my lineman with an aider for my first step on top. Bottom of my right pouch is my bow hanger, gear hanging strap and my tether on top.
Hunted with a saddle when I need to be mobile for the last 5 years or so but recently switched to a mobile tree stand from Lone Wolf Custom Gear. Really digging this method right now even more. Both are great though and it looks like I have room to upgrade and get a more modular setup for efficiency. Excited to see your progression in this!
Just got a grit workhorse kit to start with in 2025. I may test it out here in the late season in Kentucky for whitetail if I can get confident and comfortable in it
Ppl should check out newyork saddle hunter's on their set up no more needing climbing sticks. I really do like that platform for sure got it when it first came out.
I have this same system after trying saddles and platforms from Tethrd and Trophyline. Honestly I don’t know how other companies are competing with Latitude. Not only is there stuff the best design IMO, it’s priced better and made in the USA.
I’ve shot and hunted out of a saddle and love it. I want to switch my deer hunting set up to saddle hunting but it’s stupid expensive. Someone needs to bring a budget system to the market from sticks to saddle.
Look into the grit saddle system that “the hunting public” has on their website.. it’s a partnership with tethrd. I have all latitude but I have to admit it’s not a bad starter setup.
I been juggling getting a saddle for awhile now don’t know anybody that’s use’s 1 that I could try so hard to just jump into it spend the money and not like it.
Told you before been doing it over 30 plus years, currently using Latitude single and double panel saddle. You really need to get a back brace also it’s a game changer for comfort. Good to see you ABT as you always are. 🏹🦌🏔️🏕️🙏
Latitude came in quick when they saw that hawk gear in the other video 😂
💯😂
Love how your not afraid to switch things up weather that be company’s or gear your not just glued to one thing and you give honest feedback back keep it up 👍
Thats what makes Dan and this channel so awesome and keeps me coming back
Ehhhh not really. You wanna actually see a genuine shakeup is if he shoot’s a Hoyt flagship.
Latitude is, hands down, the best saddle hunting company !
😊👊
That is a perfect setup! Saddle hunting is where it’s at!
😊👊

Saddle hunted for the last few years did the same thing IE; observation sit from a saddle over water and ended up successful its game changing
Switched to saddle hunting recently. I love it. Deer season started Sept 18. I haven’t set up in the same tree twice all year.
If I could make a recommendation. Ditch the prusik knots on the tether and lineman. Get a couple of ascenders. It makes adjusting rope length super easy

I was thinking about changing to amsteel bridge. Would you recommend or do you use amsteel as well??
Dynamic Dan!!!! Love the switch up
👊

Nice!
Same sticks I got. You can't beat them for the quality and price. Also, they are cool to DIY.
Pro tip, when you set up your tether do a girth hitch on the loop end and it’ll stay more secure on the tree and not slide down

Im interested in that exact setup. Maybe different color backpack.

Nice!
I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the Ranger 22 bag. I have been thinking about picking one up. You will love saddle hunting
Thanks for the encouragement! Saddle hunting is the best!

I'll look into those duck ascenders!
@@ELKSHAPEGEAR Hang Free has a great deal on the Kong duck ascenders
As others have said, ditch the prusiks and get a couple lineman’s. Simple but BIG time game changer.

I've been running the Tethrd saddle for hunting whitetails for a few years now. I agree it would be dope to harvest a bull out of one!
😊

Cool! I will have to check out the lone wolf as well!
@ I think you’ll like it a lot due to the cohesiveness and modularity of the accessories with one another. Love to see a video in the future!
Just got a grit workhorse kit to start with in 2025. I may test it out here in the late season in Kentucky for whitetail if I can get confident and comfortable in it
Good Luck!
Dan get into one sticking! You’ll thank me later.
I use it when it’s the best option. I just one stick it with my Kifaru 22 Mag
Nice!
Looks like you’re gearing up for eastern white tail hunting say Tennessee
Ppl should check out newyork saddle hunter's on their set up no more needing climbing sticks. I really do like that platform for sure got it when it first came out.
Nice! I will look into this climbing without sticks!
"HDS COMIN THROUGH"
I love saddle hunting but I would get rid of those prusik knots and go with an ascender of some type like a Ropeman 1 or Kong Duck.
I will look into those!!! Thanks for the tip!
Latitude all day
💯
Ditch the prusik knots and get a rope man…game changer
Thanks for the tip! we will be looking into that!

Lmao just said on the other video you need to get these sticks after seeing you rock those hawks 😂
You were right 💯👊
Just received the platform/sticks and 22 pack! I'll go run some elk with you 🤘
👊
I’ve shot and hunted out of a saddle and love it. I want to switch my deer hunting set up to saddle hunting but it’s stupid expensive. Someone needs to bring a budget system to the market from sticks to saddle.
