- I don't normally post full shows (or twice in one day), but someone just asked if I'd upload this for them and I was going to share it as unlisted, but I figured I might as well share it with everyone since I'm already here. I know Patti's clip is up on YT, but this is a collection of clips from his salutes to Broadway. They aired in 1980 (May 21 and 22) and Liza's part was in 1982. The clips feature Patti (interview + singing Don't Cry For Me Argentina), Ethel Merman (interview + singing You're Just In Love with Merv), Christine Ebersole, Stockard Channing, Pat Carroll, Liza Minnelli, Jossie DeGuzman and Alberta Hunter.
Watching 5 min of this, Im floored by how much I miss Merv! takes me back to being a preteen in the 80s
Ethel was just mesmerizing! She was a star through and through. With a big magnetic personality. The first lady of Broadway and the musical comedy stage! The queen!

Nice joke, but you're wrong. She was named Susan Stockard. Her parents were Lester and Mary Alice Stockard. When she joined a theater company out of college, she combined her maiden name with her married name and took the stage name Stockard Channing.
