I love how Patti had to tell the conductor to pick his pace up TWICE at the start of Blow Gabriel Blow.

Rain pace...plus at the slower tempo she would have to use consonants. :)

I get the feeling this wasn’t just the conductor - a lot of the orchestra sounded a mess. I’m guessing they never even rehearsed at this faster tempo.

Nothing succeeds like excess in America; and, this DIVA's quality voice & expression takes my breath away. That voice could jump start a V-8 engine.

I am in tears. I just watched Patti perform Don't Cry For Me Argentina to a rapt audience at the Capital. An older, more mature Patti sang to that audience. That is HER song. Many have sung it. She owns it. It seemed that she was singing about herself there, not Eva Peron. I wish I could have been there that day.

I wonder if Patti LuPone is still singing - her Argentina is the best I've ever heard sung.

You better believe Patti Lupone is still singing. If she ever stops, then something is wrong. Besides, she did a revival of Company last year and still sings Ladies Who Lunch. Evita was her first big role, her last is in the future.

There is only one Evita in musical theatre to us. And this is her. I don't know who the conductor is but he looks awfully like Henry Mancini.

So I know this is an old comment, but this was on the steps of the Capital Building in DC. You can see it in the background at one point.

Ally Turnbull I don’t know what I was thinking when I first wrote this. I can’t unsee the Capital Building now that it was pointed out. I think I just was so into Patti’s singing and outfit, I wasn’t paying careful attention the background at first run through or must have accidentally missed that point in the video when it flashed by in the view of the video. What a stunning venue to hear such a gorgeous rendition of that song. That audience was so lucky.

i think the conductor is Henry Mancini... google him if you aren't familar.... if that's him, they're probably friends :)

She is very talented. I used to love her until she kicked a patron out of the audience when he wouldn't wear a mask. I thought that very unfortunate to do.
